SpaceX Falcon 1 Flight Attempt 4 is a Success (2008-09-28)

"You mean I'm not permitted to hate on a country whose tyrannical government promotes censorship, trial-free imprisonment, forced abortions, invasion of Tibet and harvesting prisoners' organs?"

So, basically you hate the people that are subjegated to all those things ?

First Chinese E.V.A. by the Taikonauts on Shenzhou 7

burdturgler says...

First off, I never said we were first. And I never said anything about only we can go to space.

Secondly, if you actually watched the entire video and yet somehow feel the need to defend the things those announcers said (which was the reason behind my post in the first place) that says a lot more about you than it does about me. I doubt you even listened to the whole thing.

Beyond that, I don't know what crawl you're talking about. NASA has done some pretty amazing things since the 60's .. too numerous to list here, besides the fact that the first privately funded rocket to reach orbit was just launched yesterday by Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX) which is an American company.

Lastly, I have no idea what you're talking about with the money/war bullshit. I guess you support them invading Tibet too.

I have to give you credit for consistency, QM, your ignorance and apparent racism extend even to the boundaries of space.

It's likely the Chy-knees rockets were built with tech stolen (or given) to them during the criminal Clinton years.

Only liberals hate Bush and waterboarding more than the evil empires.

Where have you been the passed billion years.

We can't even show our fellow man respect.

Holocaust, Palestine, Manzanar, Fema Detention Facilities, police brutality, organ harvesting, Falon Gong, Tibet, Extremists, Xenophobes...I could go on and on... forever and ever. Maybe I should publish a book with a list of "1-infinity: The Bad Things Humans Have Done to Other Humans".

If McCain wins, I'd recommend Tibet. Sure, the oxygen is scarce and soldiers patrol the streets with AKs, but at least it's a high plateau that will be the last place to sink under the new Panaqua Ocean. Plus, yak meat is tasty.

James Powderly tells Rocketboom about his arrest in China

NeuralNoise says...

Sorry if I sounded too harsh.
The difference would be that putting up pictures of bin laden means you are taking sides with the guy that killed x many americans.

Going to China to use a projector where passer-bys can insert their messages (pro-tibet), although a recipe for being arrested, is not the same thing at all.

But I guess your point is: Both China and the US are totalitary regimes, and manifestation of opinions that are anti-establishment will land you in trouble. Point taken.

I guess what I disliked was comparing Tibet and Taliban. (comparing US and China is fine with me)

Part of the problem that never gets addressed is that while Georgia was under Russian control they pulled a similar move to what China is doing in Tibet, they moved their own people in there en masse to displace the locals. South Ossetia was nearly entirely ethnic Georgian before the intentional settlement by Russians. It's not so clear cut as either side wants you to believe.

Olympic Censorship Now Obvious, Obnoxious. (Wtf Talk Post)

Fjnbk says...

I would guess that the Chinese government was not responsible for this, with self-censorship more likely.

The Chinese government is very inept at blocking Internet sites. Huffington Post is blocked, but Daily Kos is not. Sites related to Tibet can be reached with creative maneuvering. It's very hard to remove a video from the Internet entirely.

Your three examples of censorship hardly qualify as censorship, IMO.

"Tibet was an independant empire from the 7th to 11th centuries.

Later it was ruled by the Dalai Lamas, with increasing Chinese influence, but it seems that historians are not clear when China effectively took control."

Tibet was indeed a province that was free, before the Qin Dynasty united china.

It's sickening what crazed "freedom fighters" would do in the most pointless of goals. Tibet does not deserve nearly as much publicity as it is receiving. The people are not being oppressed anywhere as near the way media portrays. Those who support Tibetan independence are also indirectly supporting known international terrorists. Tibet has never been an independent state, and there is little practical reason for it to become one. Their dilution of religion giving them happiness is about as practical as communism. The people there are impoverished, it would be a human rights disaster to cut off Tibet from Chinese government aid. As far as getting arrested for protesting, try a stunt like that here in the US and you'll get arrested in the same fashion. People need a reminder of how biased international media is. News agencies like to sully the reputations of rival nations, only because their own governments support such actions.
