Sharon Stone Thinks China Earthquake Might Have Been 'Karma'

JTZ says...

Instant Karma indeed.

I disagree with what? and who?
If you are talking about why I down voted the video, it's because junk like like that doesn't deserve to be sifted. It's nothing but rich celebrities with a dead cockroach for brains thinking that by jumping on any social/global issue bandwagons makes them some how superior... without knowing the full details. Now there are exceptions to that. But here we just have a typical case of bandwagon moron. Just listening to her talk makes me cringe. "being mean to 'the Dalai Lama', that's not nice, he is my friend!"? I mean come the fuck on! How the fuck is that "KARMA"! If you are going to speak out about an important issue, do it with some substance! How about saying that CCP and the Chinese goverment shouldn't impose social and religious restrictions on the citizens of China so on, one can go on and on about it. We don't live in a perfect world.

And back to Karma? How is it that saying chinese not being nice have brought this on themselves? Are you kidding me? What did those ppl that lived in the mountains most of their lives working in the fields, working in small factories have no saying in what ever thats going on in Tibet or anyother areas where imjustice has happened deserved it? Not to mention that the area where the earthquake happened actually have a very large Tibetan population and the worst areas of the quake near the epicenter in the mountains have buddhist temples there. KAR-FUCKING-MA?

At the end of the video that animation short is terrible as well, worthless. This whole boycott this boycott that about the Olympics is rather stupid. What do the people that boycotted the event or the trochrelay can accomplish? Sure the events will profit the "evil chinese goverment" at the same time it is prvoiding opportunities for average Chinese with jobs, commerce etc. That the world has become a smaller place, they are able to see how far a long they have come, creating incentives for them to change whats around them and reaching out. And at the very least providing some entertainment to those who are less fortunate. Boycotting is like saying we know theres a problem and we are no pleased so we are not going to be part of it there! and then does nothing.

As for the comment, I don't know where to start. It is even worse than the video. I personally hate anyone and anything that pushs an agenda by using events such as this earth quake as a power base. I better stop here before I start my long rant and offends more ppl...

by the way, comment voting sucks-wish we could get rid of it-hey JTZ, what of it man, you disagree or what????

Why Do ALL Europeans Hate America?

9058 says...

No Danny im not branding all Europeans as racist, that was my point, to make such a generalized statement that all Americans are ignorant fools is like me believing this video as all Europeans as just as ignorant as we "supposedly" are. Dont lump me in to a nationality. If so then i guess i should hate every Chinese person i ever see because of Tibet. I should spit in the face of every north Korean because of their "Dear Leader". I should judge all people based on what their country does, which sorry folks doesnt make any damn sense. Yes a lot of Americans are stupid (though i can say that about a lot of populations). As long as you dont say "all" are and start hating on me when in reality i dont have any part of this bullshit. And Ryjkyj you just killed all my hope that this was all blown out of proportion and that humanity in general is so easily manipulated into always focusing on the negative people. Oh well i could go sit in the corner and cry but then I would miss the new American Gladiators lol

Nothing wrong with murder and blood, but a dead guy's penis is obscene?

Great post, but I could've gone without the dead Asian ding-a-lings.

Yeah, didn't actually say nothing was wrong with murder and blood, but, now that you mention it, I think I do have a preference to see dead people with clothes on. That's all. Don't get your blankman tights in a bunch over my nonsensical blathering please.

Made me think of Col. Kurtz "We train young men to drop fire on people. But their commanders won't allow them to write "fuck" on their airplanes because it's obscene!"

Bush Security Advisor Steve Hadley Confuses Tibet with Nepal

GreatBird says...

Why doesn't Stephanopoulos even noticed that Hadley said Nepal instead of Tibet? There is some great journalism there. I got the sense that neither of they guys really no what they are talking about, or care for that matter.

Protestors Scale the Cables of the Golden Gate Bridge

10419 says...

those protestors are of little help; if anything, they are making the situation worse. how you might ask? This protesting is more likely to cause the governmnet of China to beef up security and give them reason to act more brutal than they normally do in fear of looking bad during the olympics.

These security forces, however, will not be brutal to the rich tourist who will be bringing their dollars and euros with them, but to the people of china who the security forces will suspect most in trying to mess up the olympics. the worst part is that the poor people who live in China arent even told about what is going on in Tibet.

To Constitutional_Patriot

"I think you summed it up best uhohzombies... it's no excuse to imprison, torture and kill the people of Tibet as they've been doing for a long time now. "
------------
Let me answer your question: some riots were imprisoned and killed simple because of their violent behaviours. They burn people ( Han & Muslim Chinese) to death and destroy shops and buildings. The violence is firece and the police couldn't handle. That's why Chinese army was sent. Not a single civilised country would tolorent this level of violence/killing of inocent citizen in a major city. Sending troop to regain peace is almost mandatory. Not doing so would be huge violation of human rights --- more lives will surely be killed by tibetan riots.

Constitutional_Patriot, I guess the fact I put may be surprising to you. Yes if we don't have common basis of fact, any augument is meaningless. I hope you open you eyes and read more about the event. Maybe it's difficult for you to believe in the possibility that CNN and BBC lie to western public. Personally I think these media are not hurting China or even Chinese government. They are hurting pulic knowledge and judgement of their own citizens.

btw: So far no evidence of torture is available or reported. I guess it was originated from your imagination of miserable Tibet.

Tibet WAS,IS,and ALWAYS WILL BE a part of China

To Omelet :
by "The difference is that the majority of people in Tibet would like to be independent from China", you are surely wrong. Most western people don't belive it but the truth is majority of people in tibet would like to have Dalai Lama return to Tibet but they don't care about gaining independence at all. Come to Tibet please, and you know the truth. There are 3 million tibetan in Tibet and less than 0.2 million tibetan are overseas. It is the oversea tibetan( they were slave owners before 1959 and lost their power that year) and some ruling class (monks) in Tibet who want to gain independence. The ordinary tibetan people are mainly concerned with the economic change that Han and Muslim Chinese have brought to Lhasa. Of course I am not saying the human rights in Tibet is good. Not at all. Chinese government have a lot of room to improve in human right, though the current cituation is much much much better than it was when Dalai Lama was in power before 1959 (remember he was the biggest slave owners and more than 90% of Tibetan population was slaves at that time). Tibetan people have every right to fight for more freedom against the goverment (so do the Han Chinese people) but it doesn not mandate the independence. Their ordinary people simply don't want it at all, though you western guys are crying for it. Come and talk to ORDINARY tibetan people in TIBET( not only oversea, not only monks... these guys are previous slave owners!), you will find the truth!!

Tibet WAS,IS,and ALWAYS WILL BE a part of China

steroidg says...

To Farhad2000:

Just for argument sake, the Yuan dynasty that the video maker referenced IS the Mongolian horde, and it is generally considered part of Chinese history. The Han Chinese are very good at assimilate other cultures through out history. Many times, nomads form the north (either invaded China or was invaded) decided that they would like to become Chinese and either invent or request a Chinese family name for their tribe. The Mongol invaded China, but turned out becoming part of the Chinese civilisation (just like the Manchurians of the Qing dynasty which was also mentioned).

I personally think borders are imaginary (though documented not unlike certain book about a certain god that supposed to exit) lines, so why fight about something that doesn't exit? I'm not defending the Chinese government's actions in any sense, but I do think most westerners are mislead by the media regarding many aspects of China, especially how most Chinese feel about the matter, and this video present some fair responses to some of the arguments that Tibet independent activists pushed out. I do however agree that this video uses an overly offensive tone and that's really not helping his argument.

Tibet WAS,IS,and ALWAYS WILL BE a part of China

jwray says...

Past borders of China under ancient imperial regimes are irrelevant.

If the vast majority of residents of Tibet want to secede, they have the right to do so, period. The only possible mitigating factor is if the new government of Tibet allows horrible institutions (for example slavery). That is not likely to be the case. They would have to fuck up badly to get a worse human rights record than the current censorious Chinese oligarchy.
