No, the history doesn't stay. That's why I think commenting will still be a distinct method of communication, and not effected too much.

My interest in the Pirate Party has been growing too. I was following what happened in the recent German elections. I want to get involved and I've been looking into joining my local Australian chapter. Even if they can get some traction for copyright, patent reform and fair use - it would be a great thing.

I remember you had a blog about government disappearing for web-like, open source community stuff (I might be mis-remembering the exact situation). But the PIRATE PARTY seems to be pushing this idea of the best of open source methodology with "API" for dealing with government, and government dealing with itself. Seemed pretty interesting, though, I haven't done any reading to see how different it would really be from a system of "laws" vs "API", perhaps just a paradigm shift in the way we think of governments. I like the shift of thinking of government as a tool instead of us as the pawns of its whimsy.

If you hover your mouse of the when you submitted text, it pops up the actual server date and time - you are in.

It's 5 p.m. right now on the 30th here and the comment says it's been up for 2 days 7 hours (6h 52m to be precise.

I posted it before I realize the contest was going on but then I wanted to make sure that I made the cut and you guys weren't using Aussie time or something :-/ If so no worries but yah I submitted it 11a.m. on the 28th.

Sorry for the late reply. Not really top-secret. More just trying to stay one step ahead of spammers. It's a constant battle going on in the background of VideoSift - and yeah, sometimes there is some collateral damage of innocent bystanders. We log IPs of previous spammers and automatically deactivate new accounts on the same IP. We also have a few "behavioural" trip-wires that can cause an automatic banning. We don't publicise these bannings as we don't want to give succour to the enemy.

So there are known bannings, there are unknown bannings and there are uh... banning bannings and then um ... forget it, Rumsfeld is a tool.

I didn't know this user at all. I just saw the banned symbol next to his/her name in a "Who voted for this video" section. Whenever I see a new banned user I usually go look at their profile to see what caused it. I guess I'm a Videosift rubbernecker.
In this case I see nothing. He/She's got 2 comments, no videos, no profile comments... obviously no down vote spree. What happened? And is there any way there could be a feed of bans/hobblings? (Do we even still have hobbling?) It might be good for checks and balances.

It's strange that I just watched the first two episodes of Portlandia for the first time. Just finished a minute ago before I watched this. The beginning of this video made me laugh more than I laughed in all two 20 minute episodes of Portlandia. Not that this is funny, but the whole sustainable thing (which I agree with) and dreadlocks thing made me laugh at Portlandia's attempt at making fun of Oregon's culture. It was just a coincidence that made it humorous to me, but damn, that show sucks. I want to grow mushrooms!!
