Silvercord: Two references

1) The Jethro Tull song, "A Passion Play."

The thing is, I'd rather listen to Tull and Maiden than anything these no-talent ass clowns have ever done. They're nothing but posers. Oh, and Lars needs to STFU about everything.

Well, yea . . . that's why it's funny. Metallica loses to Tull in the Grammy's in 1989. Someone decides to make a video of Metallica doing a cover of a Tull song. Only problem is, Metallica hasn't ever covered a Tull song (and probably never would - a pride thing). So, you get an Iron Maiden cover of a Tull song, dub it into a Metallica concert and make it look like Metallica are honoring Tull.

Now, the real problem is this: Iron Maiden covered the Tull song better than Metallica ever could and it gives the whole illusion away.

So, it was funnier than when I first posted it.

And it was funnier when I didn't have to explain it.

Yeah, maybe I'm missing the humour. You don't really mess with Tull, Maiden, and Metallica all in one breath. Except for Metallica, they suck...

ZOMG! I have to tell you, that makes it even funnier. Someone ought to make a mockumentary: Metallica Plays Tull: An Evening of Tribute to the First Hard Rock Grammy Award Winners!

Just remember the flute really is a heavy, metal instrument.

About the music... Well I was a girl during the 70's, my parents had me late in life and my brother's were 8 and 12 years older than me. So musically, I like a little bit of everything.

After seeing your profile I should have sniffed out some Jethro Tull too.

I grew up with all my parent's LPs from the 70s... Jim Croce, Jethro Tull, Sonny and Cher, Joni Mitchell, Three Dog Night... all good shit... but some of my first memories are of singing John Denver songs... hence, the soft spot in my soul

If you've ever seen Tull in concert you know it was one of those experiences you'll take to the grave. If you haven't, you really missed out on one of the best treats the rock world has ever given us. Listen to Martin Barre shred his Les Paul and to Barriemore Barlow whack the skins. The musicianship of this band was rivaled by few others.
