Most Advanced Car Cassette Player Ever Made (1988)

albrite30 says...

I had a 17 dollar portable boombox in the back of my 1989 mercury sable, which belted out horrible sound all the time. Luckily my tastes ranged from Tool and Metallica and Sevendust and not much else.

BREAK A SWEAT | NONSTOP | SKRILLEX

I wish he would have dubbed the source music over the top of the boombox audio. Or would that fall within YouTube's definition of improper use?
if 'fair use' doesn't apply here then the music owners would be idiots for pulling down these videos.

Judas Priest - Rocka Rolla - Live 1975

>> ^deathcow:

This is pretty awesome.
I got into Judas Priest when I bought a JVC RC-M90 boombox in 1983 (p.s. I sold it this year for 3x the original cost : ) and the first tape I listened to was from my brother, who gave me "Screaming For Vengeance" on cassette.
I had a 4x4 foot "tapestry" of Screaming For Vengeance on my wall soon after and over the next few years filled out my cassette box with stuff going all the way back to this.
My favorite of all time (back then anyway) was the live version of Green Manalishi from Unleashed in the East. (I learned yesterday it was a cover, and Fleetwood Mac has a funky version of it.)
This old stuff has a character all its own.
I really liked the album "Point of Entry" which nobody else seemed to.
I made a killer Judas Priest logo on my Commodore 64.

Point of Entry is one of my faves. Desert Planes is such a great song. Same with Turning Circles.

Welcome to the Machine - Animated Film

petpeeved says...

Welcome to the Machine was the very first cassette I ever owned. I still vividly remember sitting in my room pressing play on my boombox for the first time and spending the next few hours just staring off into space listening to it over and over.

I often wonder how different my outlook on life would be if that first album experience was something else. It was that pivotal.

Haha, I remember when I was in second grade I had a boombox and probably a Vanilla Ice or Michael Jackson tape on hand. But, I wanted an extension cord so I could have the boombox on the otherside of the room, so I grabbed some wire stuck in one end of the power cord for the boombox and then plugged the cord in the wall. Fireballs. Fucking FIREBALLS. It was awesome. I'll never do it again.

I remember standing in front of an electrical outlet when I was about 3-4 with a fork, thinking man, I'm so tempted to see what would happen if I poke this fork into these little holes.
Ahh, the good old days, before it became politically correct to safe'ify one's house for the chillun's.
