Brother rottenseed, I'm inclined to agree with you. However I propose a one requeue limit per video, while still keeping the personal queue. With one requeue that gives each video up to six full days of exposure, which should hopefully remove bad timing from the equation. Let the requeue invocation be done any time, because if you can only use it once per video then how could it be abused?

I think every video deserves at least a second chance to make it to the front page before it's reassigned to our personal hope chest. Personal queues don't give them much of a second chance, IMHO. Only if they're in the general population of the unsifted queue will they stand a reasonable chance of being sifted before our grandkids go off to college.

As of this moment I don't have any videos in my personal queue, but I know I've been lucky so far. Luck doesn't last forever. As much as I like watching everyone's videos here, I miss a hell of a lot of them because I spend most of my day offline. I do my best to check out as many unsifted videos as possible, but most of them slip under my radar for no other reason than bad timing. With one requeue we all stand a better chance of seeing gems that we missed the first time around.

Will just ONE requeue per video degrade the quality of the sift? I think not. I think it's a better solution than having to go door to door begging for votes, which has noticeably increased in the short time since requeue went out the door. One requeue is much better than having us all turn into telemarketers.

Sorry, I didn't pay attention after he got banned. I will tell more about why I noticed about Microspect. There is another guy who annoyed me recently who was posting Ron Paul videos, one with a comment that said be sure to give money, and another that he promoted on other folks threads. Now, I like Ron Paul. I don't like the idea of videosift turning into dueling promotions. One of the things I value the most about this place is intelligent disagreement without things being pushed on folks or there being an official stance. But then, I object to my employer puting a "United Way" form in my box and badgering me if I don't return it, and I hate telemarketers, and I hate spam. Let me say this again: I hate telemarketers and spam even if they want to sell me what I want to buy.

Anyway, I'm getting off track. This other guy, he was posting microspect videos, and I actually wondered if he was microspect, but the web has a lot of ron paul fans, and it was just wondering. But I remembered the name.

Then, the other guy (name not important) posted that he thought that videosift was unfriendly, and maybe he should just leave. When I saw the new Ron Paul revolution post from a probationary member, I thought it was the original guy, who had perhaps really been disgruntled, deleted his account, and then rejoined. The name seemed so familiar. So I checked, and it was the same Youtube source, but a new videosift poster.

Me, I like consistently applied rules. I've watched you guys ban tons of first-time posters. Why would you not ban this guy? If he gets the point, if he is merely zealous and not fanatical, he can come back, make a new account, and post some of the myriad ron paul videos that created by others. Or, he can just be sneaky, and make a new account with a new name, and no one will even know that he's self-linking. Not that I like that idea, but he sure can.

And I wish there were more ways to make it so the political videos were presented on their own merit, without requests for donation or exhortations to join a revolution.

Grimm - that's what I mean, it's the volume and not the hardware that's annoying.

Karaidl - well, yes, there have been pompous douches who think it makes them look great, but in reality, as you say, it makes them look like a Backstreet Boy or a telemarketer - or going by bluetooth headset users I've seen most, a taxi or bus driver. But why is this a problem? If it makes you feel special to look like a cabbie, then you deserve pity more than anger.

My problem with them is they're the new pompous douchebags for the 21st century. Back in the 90's, there were always those idiots that wanted to show off how important they were by talking on their cell phone all the time, but now that everyone's doing it, they have to step it up. Headsets are a way of saying, "Hey, I might not be talking on my phone right now, but I'm so fucking important that I'll be getting a call any minute and I don't want it away from my ear!"

Also, it makes you look like a Backstreet Boy or a telemarketer. Take your pick.
