Aren't all 3D movies actually 4D? I just don't see how you can leave that 4th D out.
Are you really saying that it's a 3D movie with smell-o-vision? The awesome of shale gas in a 3D movie with stench is mind-boggling.

yeah yeah ok... sure
but the oil and natural gas barons who fund this tea bagging nonsense publicly acknowledge science and the fossil origins of fossil fuels.

example: i live in on top of a previously impossible to tap natural gas shale. they just discovered how to tap the shit out of that gas. the shale is a huge deal here and has brought a lot development and growth to my adorable little cowtown in the last 3 years or so. so much so in fact, that the natural gas companies funded massive renovations to our science museum. so a room in the museum is now dedicated to the science of natural gas. one of the attractions is a 10 minute long 4D movie about how natural gas got underneath fort worth, and how these genius's are getting it out. the movie takes you back in time all the way to the big bang and fast forwards to different periods, clearly acknowledging that the earth is far far far far older than 6,000 years and that god didn't necessarily have anything to do with it.

soooo, i understand that shaping and funding a movement that denies climate change is good for them, but a wonderful justification for denying the science is the godly origins of the earth... but at the same time they're spending thousands to educate an entire city on the ancientness and godlessness of fossil fuels.....

so nothing about this fits. i've never met a teabagger (and i'm probably more inclined to meet more teabaggers than most of the sift because of my geography) that 1. didn't deny the scientific origins of the universe 2. didn't deny climate change and when hard pressed with facts, didn't resort to "jesus is coming back" and 3. didn't looooooove the shit out of some fossil fuels ...... are they really really just too stupid to notice that the circle doesn't close? this makes me sad.

or is it just a cultural thing?? like, texas has been an oil rich state for over a century now. oil is just kind of embedded in our culture and is just accepted as something positive and a point of pride. and the discussion doesn't go much further than that. i grew up in a city who's football mascot was a fucking oil rig. when i think of symbols that mean texas to me, i see an oil rig. oil=texas. texas=home. home=good. done. thought circle complete. i hope that's it. and it's not just outrageous stupidity and a short few years of brain washing alone. i'm sad.

Because Jesus is coming again soon to rapture them away so they don't care what they do to the earth, besides god gave them dominion over the Earth to rape and pillage it as they please. They don't believe in anthropological global warming anyhow since they don't believe in science, though some of them believe in peak oil which is why they think we need to drill "our own oil" by international companies selling it on the international market... Also he put the oil in the earth already made along with fossils, and accelerated light so that a galaxy 12 billion light years away can be seen now even though the universe is only 6,500 years old, and all that other prof that he had nothing to do with the creation of the universe. It is that whole god chose the foolish things to confound the wise... and he hid things from the wise and learned and revealed them to children... and all the other excuses they have for explaining such things.

It might be just the local tea baggers here.
To be fair they haven't used the Jesus is coming soon as an excuse to do as they will, but it is something the locals seem to believe. After the election of Obama they actually thought that perhaps that will make Jesus come back sooner...I didn't realize god was so weak that his planned time for sending his son back could be altered by the actions of man, then again they seem to think god is to weak to do his job of convicting people of sins and punishing them for them, so they have to do that work for him... Anyhow, Jesus coming back soon seems to be a common thought, so I extended that to them as an excuse for using fossil fuels.
Very few of the tea baggers I know will acknowledge that global warming has anything to do with human activity. Those that do seem to think it is a very small nearly unmeasurable part of it, with cow farts having far more effect.
None of the tea baggers I know acknowledge the scientific origins of the universe, they may not be young Earth creationist, but they all are of the "design speaks of a designer" mentality. Of the old Earth creationist locally, some go with the gap theory, but most go with a day to god is as a thousand years or more to us. I personally don't know anyone who is a geocentrist.
None of the tea baggers here, home to people have a "MASTERS DEGREE IN COMMUNICATION" run for Stark County Treasurer would seem to believe that the movement is funded by any big companies, and that it is purely a grass roots movement.
Nothing I've seen of the tea baggers on the sift or news makes sense though. I just can't work out their thought process without resorting to religious dogma, and the firm belief that the far right Republican's are the only true Christians and the only ones who should be elected.
I was never a tea bagger, but I used to drink deep of the same sort of kool-aid and glad I am out of that movement now. So it may be indeed a cultural issue... We may just have more idiots incapable of independent thought here. I have been a sad panda for them for some time.

When will you get that every time you use cutesy insults like calling American citizens "teabaggers" and categorize anyone who doesn't agree with you as "racist"...

They call themselves teabaggers, you moron. Or at least they did until they were told what tea-bagging is, ha!

Please find one post where I call someone a racist. Or maybe you are referring to my accusation of race baiting. You see, it's pretty obvious when you emphasize Obama's middle name that you are race baiting, since nobody ever referred to Bush Jr as George Walker Bush, nor did they constantly refer to William Jefferson Clinton, but for some reason people like you just love to the current president's full name. Gee, I wonder why that is? You are so transparent that you might as well not even be there.

As far as the rest of your post, America is the least socialized country in the Western world. Nobody wants to go down the same path as Soviet Russia, and we are currently so far from going down that path that your statements are laughable on their face.

Stick to the anti-corporatism messages, because that's what is important today. All this socialism rhetoric is just a smokescreen to get people to vote for the corporate agendas in the guise of conservatism. You claim to be in the know, but you are just helping shift our tax money from schools and hospitals to the military-industrial-oil conglomerates.

Highlights from Rand Paul's Victory Speech

He's got some good stuff, except for the whole global warming bit. The TEA party lost me a long time ago with their stupid fucking Tea bag hats.

Are there any classical Liberals left. I'm fairly certain that my views are not being properly represented; given that I'm Atheist.

Rand Paul, like Ron Paul and the rest of the politicians are nothing but shills for some corporate entity. I hardly see them as representing a group of people. The Tea party represents Rupert Murdoch and co. It's the new Neo-Conservative party.

Jim Bunning Blocks Unemployment Extension

peggedbea says...

i got the sack from my job in august, so i spent sometime on unemployment.
heres the deal with unemployment:

1. you're supposed to do a set number of job searches each week, my number was 5, my friends number was 3.. so somewhere between 3 and 5.
you're supposed to keep track of these job searches on a log sheet they provide you, but those are easy enough to lie on and i was on it for months and noone ever asked to see them, they could at any moment i understand but still, easy enough to lie about... or to just randomly call businesses in the phone book, ask if they're hiring and write down who you called and when.. that would count as a job search... even though you aren't honestly trying to get a job.

2. you get 26 weeks of regular unemployment at what is supposed to be 80% of your normal wage, up to $400/wk (it might vary state to state depending on cost of living, not sure). $400/wk is less than 80% of my regular wage so i maxed out at $400/wk. not at all what we were accustomed to living on, i was lucky enough to make decent money before the lay off and had a hefty bit of savings, which i had to break into. not everyone makes enough money to have any savings to speak of. but i was very very grateful for that $400/wk and it kept us afloat.

3. IF your 26 weeks runs out AFTER febuary 20th, you're fucked, that its. no extensions (maybe they fixed that and texas hasn't updated its website). the first tier of emergency extensions was set into place by Bush... extending it another 20 weeks, then obama extended into a second tier going yet another 13 weeks untop of that. are you following the numbers? we're up to 59 weeks. but only if you got laid off before about august 1st 2009 and received no severance package. (i was laid off a week later with a severance package, i wouldn't be eligible for ANY extensions)

4. IF your regular unemployment runs out before febuary 20th , you get tier 1 and 2 extensions, THEN after you use those up, that is to say AFTER you have been on unemployment benefits for OVER 59 weeks, you are eligible for emergency unemployment extensions determined by your individual state, paid for by stimulus moneys. those benefits are the ones set to expire on febuary 27th. the people who are going to be affected by this have been receiving unemployment benefits for WELL over a year.

this is where my mixed feelings come in, i know the economy is really bad, i know there are millions unemployed and there are not enough jobs. i was lucky to find a really awesome job that pays very well, the problem is that instead of working 40 hours a week, im only working 10. so really great hourly wage, very few hours. i'm under employed. im very lucky to be qualified for relatively high paying jobs and im lucky enough to be really really cheap, have had a savings account, a 401k and, if i need it (thank god i havent yet) a wealthy family i could ask for help, i'm not sweating too much. millions are in much worse situations.

BUT unemployment has to end at some point, you can't stay on it forever. especially considering how easy it is to just claim benefits and not actually be looking for a job. the people who are affected the febuary 27th deadline have been on unemployment for well over a year. i don't know when the right time to cut off benefits is. a year seems like plenty of time in an economy that is not in recession. but im not sure about right now.

what they need to be focused on (and maybe they've already done this and i just haven't heard about it) is all the people who lost their jobs after august and are eligible for NO extensions what so ever.

what infuriates me about this is congress seems to just be playing games right now. with EVERYTHING. everything is crumbling, peoples families are falling apart and it seems that on every piece of legislation, on every fucking issue, they're just playing and posturing. they're not getting anything done because of pompous wind baggery and showmanship and reelection campaigns. and it fucking pisses me off! and the only people screaming about anything in my part of the country are the fucking tea bagging dipshits who aren't even pissed off about anything REAL and encourage this kind of political bullshittery. AND IT FUCKING PISSES ME OFF!

RAGE!

soooooo *quality this raging fit and dipshittery.

Nope, no sarcasm at all... I hate online play. Although, with friends, on a LAN, that is fun, and as such, I can see that you could eventually get to that point on general online play... I guess.
I don't have the time, patience, or inclination to build up the teams/organize times to play together etc. only to end up playing a fast twitch game where this sort of bullshit taunting goes on.
I enjoy single player games with stories, I enjoy playing through crafted experiences like Bioshock, HL2 and it's sequels, Arkham Asylum etc. Or, just fun puzzle games like World of Goo. Westy, you either have an unrealistically high bar for single player games, or just don't play good ones. Personally... I'd rather AI that's trying to fit into the world, rather than playing a WW2 game and have the enemy tea bag me, or yelling 'die fags'... that breaks me out of the immersion far more than a bit of dodgy AI.
That's where my enjoyment comes from I'm afraid... I just don't find enjoyment in online gaming.
I can SEE the attraction, especially in games like Eve Online etc. where it's like living in a futuristic world... but really, that's a time investment of a few orders of magnitude higher than I can give to anything that's not productive.

I enjoy both multilayer and single player , Its just that the the story telling in single player games is UTTER SHIT . compare the stories and emotoinal impact in games to a good film or book its just depressing. also the fact that the game play in single player games is often so predictable its just annoying. I really enjoy single player games as a peace of art of a mideum thats still in its black and white without sound stage.

Evan coop instantly makes any single player game infinitely better. the technology is not really there to deliver engrossing single player games of a high sophistication , Maby as a games Designer things stick out to me more than they do other people but I can still recognize fantastic single player games but Evan the really good ones the plot is that of a TV BMovi

Here is a list of some single player games that were really good.
Half life 1 , operation flash point , shadow of the colossus. The Penumbra Series , max Payne 1 and 2. portal ,
System Shock 2, myst series.

I always find it Amusing that still Half life 1 is more advanced and natural in the way it tells its story than modern FPS games. Mirrors edge has really nice environments and some well designed levels (in terms of game play) but the story is badly written and the cut scenes are annoying.
