Don't remember Robotech.

I remember being a Vulcan. I wanted to be Spock. I started to stand with my hands behind my back. Tried not smile. Learned to lift one eyebrow.

Kids. It was a great time in spite having to learn things the hard way.

I got into racing. I felt the need to follow a sport so I could be a part of something, I guess. I liked football but didn't care to play it. Baseball was too boring for me to follow for any length of time. I decided I would follow NASCAR . That was the ticket for me. Been to Daytona several times out of convenience of location. Been to Texas Motor Speedway twice, Atlanta, Talladega twice, Las Vegas, Dover and Charlotte. Part of why I have hearing loss. I love to drive/travel. I haven't owned a car since '95 but have always managed to get around somehow.

EDIT: in case you were wondering, no, I don't have a southern accent. Not that there is "anything wrong" with that.

I've always had a thing for Japanese culture. They seemed as close to Vulcans as humans were likely to get (when I was little at least), and I respect that immensely. That, and I wanted to be a race car driver when I grew up....still do.

How about Robotech? I watched it daily when it aired.

Speed Comparison Between GT and F1 Race Cars

When I was a kid, my parents would take me to the jalopy races at the Portland Speedway. The only rule was that you couldn't pass someone without at least tapping them. I've never been able to watch any other kind of racing.

If you go out to the Texas motor speedway during the week when there are no races on you can watch several groups taking courses. They have the parking lot set up for it. I don't know how many times I've cringed watching them dump a bike and have to get it back up and do it again and again.

AEROSMITH-train kept a rollin (LIVE 2004)

The first concert I went to. 1974 at Portland Intrnational Speedway. Bachman-Turner Overdrive was the headliner, But Areosmith was up first and stole the show. They came out and rocked non stop their whole set, I liked them before, and have been a big fan ever since.
On a side note: A band called Journey was the warm-up, They got shouted off the stage with"BTO..BTO" and "AREOSMITH!!!" over and over. I thought they really sucked ass. Turns out they really do . oh sherry..:/

Whas that keith Moon doing the intro?
The first concert I ever went to was BTO and it was in 1974 at the Portland Speedway. The line up was BTO, Areosmith , and Journey. BTO was the the main act, But Areosmith stole the show! Journey sucked ass, as thay always have, and always will.
Thats right...I said it. Dont make me sing some Journey to remind you of how shitty they are.

The Grateful Dead

The Grateful Dead

Classic and rare Dead--great find Farhad!

Uhm, brendotroy, the background about "New Speedway Boogie" is interesting and true except that this song is "Viola Lee Blues". (See the "Festival Express" DVD for a great live version of "Speedway"--one of my favorite GD tunes.)

The Grateful Dead

brendotroy says...

FYI, the song is "New Speedway Boogie", and it was written by the Dead about the Altamont Free Concert and intended as an indictment of both the concert itself (the Grateful Dead were supposed to play the show, but cancelled and left after the violence at the concert increased, specifically after Marty Balin of Jefferson Airplane was knocked unconscious by a Hells Angels "security guard"; Jerry Garcia reportedly spent part of the show hiding under a trailer) and a subsequent article about the concert by rock critic Ralph J. Gleason. The lyrics take on a lot more meaning when you have that in mind: "Please don't dominate the rap Jack (Ralph) / if you got nothing new to say", "Now I don't know but I been told / in the heat of the sun a man died of cold", and "One way or another / this darkness got to give".

Can anyone tell I'm a (formerly even "grater") Grateful Dead fan?
