Fast forward to 1:32. Anyone else immediately think "Fargo"?

Actually, she reminded me more of Kathy Bates in 'Misery'.

"Now you listen here, Mister Man! There so is too a god, and he's gonna kick your butt! God can't not be not real! He CAN'T!!" (shakes head while looking down, visibly disappearing back into her own psychosis)

I was just waiting for her to raise a sledgehammer into the shot.

Slow Motion Genocide (Worldaffairs Talk Post)

Thanks for that explanation, MINK. I think some of the things you were arguing for were good targets, even if your current style is a little... uh... out there.

FWIW, I find using Videosift to spam and sledgehammer-promote someone's views on a sensitive subject to be distasteful, which was what was happening with the OP, and why I upvoted many of the comments that were not just "lol i agree" to that person's position (and I really wish I could downvote the name-calling insults). At least four videos and three sifttalk posts within a couple weeks is to the point of being a broken record. I come to Videosift to be entertained by good videos and a compelling cross-section of information, not to be hit over the head with someone's political agenda without getting an equal chance to discuss it from other angles and perspectives, even if I believe that person's political cause is laudable.

Heck, even this person's final message was centred on promoting their political viewpoint.

Awesome 70s Kung Fu footage

It's not so much that they're breaking the objects is more the fact that the objects are not breaking them in return. These men have conditioned their bodies to the point that thier hands and feet are more like sledgehammers. It's a horrible price to pay, as you lose all the finer motor functions your hand was once capable of, but it is definitely possible to turn your hands and feet into very capable weapons.

This is definitely a demonstration of a "hard" style, emphasizing direct, powerful striking attacks. Kung Fu is more of a fluid "soft" style, though it has so many variations that it's difficult to make any sweeping generalizations and be 100% accurate.

I watched it a couple times and it all looks real enough to me. I've certainly seen more extreme examples of any of the breaks seen here. The important thing to remember with many of the examples is the spacers between the objects. With a kick like the first one, the martial artist only has to break two of those blocks of ice with a basic stomping kick. The force of his kick will easily carry through into the blocks below. It causes a very impressive chain reaction, but in terms of actual effort he may as well had just the first two blocks.

Tempted to downvote, but then I remembered that I had a brother too. This is what most brothers do to each other, people. He didn't his brother with a sledgehammer, BTW. It looked like a toy. The biggest wound was to his pride.

I'm an Audi TT:

"You're not the fastest, nor the most nimble, but you're cute and you have style. You're not intensely competitive, but when you pass by, everyone turns to look."

I answered "no" to every question, except the one that asked if I easily go out of control, and I'm more comfortable with a sledgehammer (ggrrrr!! mmmm, yeah! smash!!)

Yours is a brutal sense of justice. Steal a loaf of bread -- cut off your hand! Damage a concrete fence -- smash your ankle with a sledgehammer!

"The free-market is a veritable Swiss Army knife compared to the sledgehammer of bureaucracy." - Quantumushroom

Even a sledgehammer has a purpose and there are plenty of instances when it is the better tool for a job than a Swiss Army knife. It all depends what you want to do.
