Amazing Music Visualization
I want a screen saver of that!
Wet wet time-display screensaver: Dropclock
Well, 140 MB is less than 1% of the memory I have in one pocket right now, and less than .2% of what I would have on my person if I put on my jacket. Memory is cheap. I remember how upset some of the geeks were about anyone having splash pages or loading backgrounds on web pages because of the wasted bandwidth...
Yeah, this is some animations that look pretty--to some. And yeah, they are in columns. Puting it together and making it work is indeed engineering (though I feel a need to point out that the engineering channel also seriously welcomes instances of bad engineering, which perhaps would make critics more comfortable about the inclusion of this video in that channel).
Personally, I don't like screensavers. Don't trust em. Don't like them stealing my cycles--even though in theory they should never compete with me.
But opinions vary, and I'm grateful for those who try to combine engineering with visual arts in order to please softer sensebilities and wider tastes.

A 140MB screen saver... right... brilliant.
Unfortunately this is nothing more than ~20 prerendered animations that play side-by-side in 4 columns. Every digit looks exactly the same every time it's displayed. I'd be more interested if it was rendered in realtime with some variation.
Engineering? If only there were.

oh screen saver... how I miss thee
3dfx Commercial
Woo! I still remember my Voodoo 1! With the cable to hook it to the other video card because no VGA adaptor. Just pure, raw 3D power. Awesome.
There was a really awesome and trippy screen saver that used it. And Tomb Raider. That's all I can remember at the moment, but man that was a SWEET screensaver.
Oh, maybe magic carpet?

Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific - Macro HD Video (Blog Entry by youdiejoe)
Thanks guys, I love shooting that stuff, it's like watching a real life screen saver.
Not a native, but who is in LA I have lived in LA off and on for 15 years.
Dynamic "painting" by artist San Base
Reminds me of a screen saver. Is the image itself art or just the program that creates it? Pretty nifty anyway you look at it.
Michio Kaku - BBC - TIME Part 2 of 4
Your "hardon?"
Yeah, I first found Michio on the Screen Savers being interviewed by Leo Leporte. I do recall seeing the Big Thinker episodes as well. He's a fascinating man and always opens new avenues for me.
The Screen Savers: Making Ice Cream With Liquid Nitrogen
Ah, back in the pre-G4 days, when "The Screen Savers" was one of the best geek shows on TV.
Anthony installs Windows Vista in 2 minutes
2k was the best stable thing they put out. Vista is hilariously bad. You know the right click on desktop -> change resolution, background, screen saver, etc. Well that is all gone. It's like 9 clicks and a confusing menu.
I'm hoping there is a rebellion and people demand XP and new machines. Sadly, I think M$ has deals to force Dell, HP, etc to preload Vista Home (total crap) on everything.
You need Vista Business to do anything, and even then it is missing the Media Center / DVD stuff..
Dreams in High Fidelity
i absolutely love this, i have electric sheep on my comp, best screen saver ever!
Leet Speak in the News
Pitiful ... Reminds me of the time a local station decided to sound the alert about a virus attack, but how do you show a virus attack?
Their solution was to use a graphic that showed mold growing on the edges of the windows. I was LMAO since it was an After Dark screen saver and my son designed it.
