After Hours: Why Sauron is Secretly the Good Guy in LOTR
Glorfindel is a dude. Just because his (small) role was taken by Arwen in the movies because there would have been only one female role in the movies who does anything besides stitching and waiting for the male hero to marry her, does not make it OK to saddle a poor girl with a man's name.
Oh. I just remebered that this is the USA and all the girls named Robin, Ashley, Evelyn, Jaime, Lindsay, etc.
See Spot Run, Run Spot Run
Is there any reason they couldn't scale one up, wrap it in pink fur, add a mannequin's head and a saddle to one? Japan would officially fund that.
If 'Rudolph' Took Place Today
Did you even watch the original Rudolph? Santa didn't use the word freaks, but he did say the nose would keep him off the sleigh team. Later when Rudolph was doing amazing in the games, his nose fell off, and Santa was a jerk again.
That said, the whole point of this video is that today we could never have the 'classic' show. Just like we will never see a remake of Blazing Saddles, because people are too ready to jump on the internet criticism bandwagon.
It's kind of interesting in that it seems like the creator A) doesn't think it should be a big deal if Santa says "Can't have any freaks on the sleigh team" and B) Imagines Santa would say, let alone think, that in the first place.
Can we replace the "news" tag with "fail"?
Girl glued to mechanical bull
Where did the saddle horn go?!?
Horse Mounting Fail.
Drunk and spatially challenged, with uncoordinated movements-If you can't pull your fat-ass up onto an average-sized horse, you shouldn't be riding, eh? Fall from the saddle and meet the ground with that blub you may have bones that need mending....
Jeez, I can only assume the guy is mentally challenged, drunk, or both.
Let's talk about *Promote (Sift Talk Post)
Well, excuse me, but I am offended that my criticism of the promote system is being written off as purely self-interest. I stopped promoting because I didn't want to mess with other Sifters' promotes -- how is that being selfish about my own presentation?
I understand that lucky and dag have a duty to the site as a whole. Which is why I asked the question -- how many complaints were generated about the old system? That was a real question. Those of us on the site a lot can get stuck in our own bubble. If there have been complaints about how the site was working, then we all need to know about them. Something put a burr under dag and lucky's saddle about the way promotes used to work -- but I just don't see it and they aren't helping me to understand.
And -- for whatever was prompting this overhaul of the promote system, lucky's new solution is fine. Meets their interest of minimizing the number of promotes on the front page -- lets Sifters promote without worrying about messing with other Sifters promotes -- promoted videos no longer look like ads and they will have full data without having to click through.
I am beginning to wonder if this whole promote controversy is related to mass number of Sifters finally figuring out that they can work cooperatively to get their vids promoted -- to promote your own costs two power points. If you work cooperatively with someone else, you each get a promoted vid for the cost of one power point. And hence the number of promoted vids went up.
I don't see that as a problem in and of itself. I think that makes for a stronger community, where we work together so all can succeed. It encourages conversation between Sifters, which is all to the good of the community.
I really appreciate dag and lucky and all that they put into this site. I appreciate that my opinion is asked. I am not above begging for my point of view. Bottom line, though, it is dag and lucky's deal and I suspect that they are privy to issues and complaints that we know nothing about.
Thanks, our fearless leaders. I appreciate the opportunity to offer my two cents. And I appreciate that you guys clearly are taking EVERYONE'S two cents into account.
My favorite Fantasy Man sketch
I've been meaning to give this a go, but my allegiance to the Mighty Boosh and Julian Barratt has prevented me from taking the plunge.
This is the Mighty Boosh version of when Lennon and McCartney separated, except instead of Lennon writing sanctimonious, self-indulgent wank-pieces, it's Noel wearing gold spandex and a cup on his chin, riding side-saddle on a shiny unicorn in fantasy land.
Django Unchained -- Trailer #2
So... is this a remake of Blazing Saddles or something?
Breaking Bad - Final Scene of Season 5 Episode 8
>> ^kymbos:
Spoiler alert
Am I the only one who is just a tad let down by this season? Breaking Bad is the best TV since Deadwood in my opinion, but previous series have had me constantly on the edge of my seat. This one, I'm just kind of watching play out. I mean, season 4 - come on. That was gripping.
The last two episodes where Walter just becomes the kingpin and makes piles of money just left me a little empty...
I'm impressed that they like to be different. Working for Fring and the eventual high stakes is actually the kind of plot which they could have ended the entire show with the implication that White takes over, completing his ascent (or descent if you like).
If they didn't take chances they would still be stuck in that RV and we might never have had a Fring.
Season [edit] 5 [/edit] was impressive because it was about getting back into the saddle and the writers engineering the plot developments logically from what went before. I've always loved that about the show and the way they still get to focus on these characters and also extract great acting performances. Jonathan Banks was outstanding. And Dean Norris' awkward face when Walter visited his office was priceless.
As for pure gripping tension I think Dead Freight delivered in spades.
I know what you mean by "empty". I suspect this is how Walter feels after all his accomplishments, most of which seem to be about staying below DEA radar. Could they have moved him to a new location and allow him to develop into a Fring-style respected businessman with a dark secret? But then that would be close to repetition.
Hipster Porn - Official Trailer
@shveddy
Yea I ride a cheap singlespeed (freewheel). I'm in Chicago so a fancy setup is not really required.
Too many kids are riding fixie who don't really know what they are doing and they take the brakes off to 'look' cool. I mean they have custom paint jobs, wheelsets, brooks saddles... not cheap.

And that whole time I thought it was supposed to be a parody and I was like, I dun git it? He doesn't have a custom crafted Brooks Saddle?

Well it looks like the Louis CK video will end up back in the contest when all is said and done, which is great.
On the other hand it appears that some old and festering wounds have been re-opened, which was not the point. I do wonder why Lucky had such a burr under his saddle, but I've seen it before. It seems that being officious is in his nature.
Anyhow, cheers.

No upvote until I see bums in those saddles as the thing moves.
