I knew the machines had been invalidated after cyber ninjas had them because of fears that in their incompetence this could have happened, now it seems cyber ninjas knew it had happened (it looks intentional) but didn't admit it until three weeks ago.

Now consider, cyber ninjas was demanding access to dmv computers, police, sheriff, county, and state computer systems and routers, even health care records...and would have infected every state owned system had they been given access. They want to repeat this in every county Trump lost....destroying the voting ability of any county that went to Biden. Just to replace the routers in one county would cost $6 million....and because there's a severe computer chip shortage, it would take up to multiple years to buy and install them, during which time they couldn't vote.

I think it's time to audit all counties that voted for Trump, because any county that would elect him has something seriously wrong, and because all the actual fraud found has been by his voters. If some malware disenfranchises all those voters in the next election, it will only be in an effort to secure the vote, so no foul, just like the targeted anti voting rights laws you guys are enacting to disenfranchise tens of millions of voters.

Actually been watching him ever since he started building the MMX. He has quite a lot of build skills. Everything wooden or plastic hes cut on this big CNC router table. Every last part is his own personal Fusion360 design. The guy's a frickin genius. Hes got more than a few larger YouTube engineering content creators to help out.

It looks like he's using a router. I think he's roughing it to a uniform thickness. It probably wasn't cut evenly when ran through whatever large saw they cut that wood with. Normally, a very large and very expensive planer would be used.

Yes, I agree my iPhone 7 is a good product. I never saw a cellphone as a necessity but I have to say I wouldn't be able to do my current job without it. My company sent me to a remote site to replace the network router and switch and my iPhone served as the hotspot to connect to VPN so the network engineers could remote in to my laptop and run Putty to configure the new equipment. At the same time I'm talking to them on that phone, emailing them pictures of the equipment with it, checking my personal email, etc without a performance hit on the phone. I would have been listening to Pandora too if I didn't have to talk to them. So I was impressed that this device not much bigger than a playing card could do all that.

He probably blacklisted the MAC address, which basically means that dude's device will never again be able to connect to that router. (Two assumptions there: 1. The business will never change settings or factory reset the router, very likely considering they didn't even change the default login. 2. The guy doesn't know enough to spoof his MAC address, also likely by sheer probability.)

I don't disagree that it is deserved, but on the other hand, he's inflicting a fairly permanent punishment on the dude on the behalf of the business, without consulting them about it. If he's a regular that was just having a bad day, he might pester them about why his wireless isn't working any more and they won't know the answer. Or he might decide to stop going there.

If that's how the cafe wanted to deal with him, I'd be all in favor. But it should be their decision. So I hope the guy informs them about what he did and offers to A) train an employee to do the same (plus changing the router password) and/or B) undo what he did IF they want him to.

Some routers will auto-switch to a 10. subnet (from the typical 192.) when there is either mishap with the router config/collision, or possibly repeat disconnect from the ISP. Some folks set this by design. Google can tell you the intricacies.

I won't *say* I've ever done something like this. However, it's incredible how many local coffee shops/independent establishments just do not change the default config of a router. I'm genuinely dismayed how this utility, appliance and overall service continues to confound people.

Of course this assumes that the cafe has never changed from the default password. It wouldn't work on my combo modem/router supplied by my cable internet provider. Each unit has its own unique default password based on its serial number.

It seems like he has an interesting process, starting with handmade designs then moving on to vector graphics and a router. Also you can download some of the designs with instructions.

Can I do that with my Time Capsule? It'll be the router that both my laptop and Apple TV get internet from. I said I have AirVPN on my laptop - what steps would I take to get it running on the router, so it covers the Apple TV as well? I`d follow many guides such as: [url redacted] but it wont work on time capsule yet.

That router is the Shizzle.

They can start with simple approaches and get progressively more difficult. We don't know if that was the first attempt.

For example, if they're determined enough it's simple enough to get your home ip address and target your router since the firmware's rarely updated. From there they have all unencrypted traffic on your network as well as metadata on your encrypted traffic. They can then target the main PC, particularly if it's not fully patched and not running additional security software, and so on.

It's all about how much effort they want to put into the attack. Try the simple stuff first, and if it's worth it you can get more and more complex.

I hate advertising. I despise it. I think it is evil and wrong and creepy, and am deeply concerned about how much influence it has over modern life, especially in the US. I run adblock software in any browser I use ALL THE TIME, I block advertising servers in my hosts file, and even block at the router level as an additional layer of redundancy. And I feel zero guilt and entirely justified in doing so.

...That being said, Adam's plug at the end of this video is exactly what I think advertising should be. He is (clearly) enthusiastic about The Martian as a creative work / product. He has an audience that are interested in hearing him talk about things that he is enthusiastic about. Fox could have ignored or turned down Adam's (I'm sure) polite inquiries about possibly being able to see one of these props in person, but instead they recognized that they actually stand a lot to gain by letting him check it out.

He is genuinely interested in Fox's property, I'm sure he would happily recommend the movie even if they hadn't been kind enough to let him check out the prop, and now Fox gets free advertising and goodwill spread directly at an audience that is likely very receptive towards their product. Everybody wins.

So kudos to Fox and Adam for this. Maybe it keeps up a bit further away from AD-mageddon. And to chip in -- I agree with Adam; see The Martian and read the book. Both are very good. And I'm not being paid to say that.
