Nike’s Flagship Store Closes Due INSANE Crime

newtboy says...

Nike had sold discounted and out-of-season items at the Northeast neighborhood factory store since 1984.
Not a flagship Nike store, but a flagship “community factory store”….a low profit discount out of season outlet store.

Last year the store quietly shuttered its doors due to internal and external theft and safety issues. With expensive and small/lightweight stock and absolutely no anti theft security in place and police too busy joking about running over citizens to even try to arrest shoplifters, it’s hardly surprising they became targets for petty theft by employees and customers.

Nike did not provide a specific reason for the permanent closure and said it is considering future locations in the area, not that they were abandoning it because of high crime. Sounds like they just need a more secure building. Nice try.

"Nike’s commitment to supporting and uplifting Portland’s North and Northeast community is unwavering. We are reimagining Nike’s retail space, permanently closing our current location at 2650 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and considering future locations as part of this community’s long term revitalization plan,"

Lol…WOKE is dying as a slur. 😂

It’s not helping DeSantis screaming about woke everything every fourth word, and it’s hurting Florida terribly.
Not only has Disney cancelled well over a BILLION dollars of investments in Florida and decided not to create thousands of good paying jobs there (and beaten DeSantis in courts like a step child), tourism is falling, travel safety warnings growing daily, and at least 14 major conventions have cancelled citing a hostile political climate (like the Tom Joiner foundation (sports betting and online gambling), specialty toy retail association, research in vision and ophthalmology, and the national sales network conference…not liberal conferences, business conferences with tens of thousands of well off attendees now getting hotels and expensive meals in another state).

Florida, already over $24 BILLION IN DEBT (officially predicted to be over $30 billion by 2027) is losing three of its cash flow streams thanks to the undefined “war on woke” that has destroyed DeSantis’s campaign dreams. Not even most Republicans care about that stupid culture war “woke” nonsense, and those who do couldn’t tell you what it is if their lives depended on it. 😂

PS- now both kid Rock and Manly Greene have been caught selling or drinking the beer they both started a conservative boycott of, proving again your leaders (both cultural and political) don’t do or believe what they say….ever.

PPS- OCT 23 GEORGIA TRIAL DATE REQUEST!! And set!
I guess Cheesebro’s attempt to separate his trial by demanding a speedy trial isn’t working as expected. 😂

Let's talk about Hannity not believing it for a second....

luxintenebris says...

yup. what if the standards of journalism return to the level before FN is often a quandary; would it be a boon or a bust?

i'd like it. 'tho many shepherds would lose their sheep.*

might take any news the same way a body would gather from people in their own lives. some folks are credible, some not, & some are a bear to get anything out of 'em. try that w/retail news sources.

personally, the FACT Hannity said this only underlines FN is a second-hand rag seller. poor quality product w/sales staff pushing the hard sale.

patrons get what they buy.

hope Murdoch & cronies get hammered for billions. they need to give back all those ill-gotten gains.

*the 'net has many CREDIBLE sources. some browsers have translation features built in, so impartial reports can be obtained if'n American media reviles yah so.

Ok where is this quote? Or is this just I hope its true hearsay?

As far as FOX MSNBC CNN etc being a 24 hour NEWs outlet you way off.
23 hrs of slanted commentary and 30 min of news. ...

If you haven't figured this out yet then you just a gullible sheep.

Try to leave Home Depot without checking out...

spawnflagger jokingly says...

Those wheel-locking carts have been used elsewhere too, but I doubt they'll have such locks on the flatbed or lumber carts. I bet you could just ask them to put a $459 toilet on a cart for you, and then ask a different person to help load it into your van/truck.
Or, if you really wanted to steal something (small), just put it in an orange 5 gallon bucket.

I'm not condoning theft. I've also wondered why it's totally OK to have bouncers at bars/clubs, but not at retailers?

How to Not Fall Off A Ladder

luxintenebris jokingly says...

right on about kids & ladders. use bike locks to secure ladders to support braces to keep them from traveling.

also, discovered a phenomenon working retail. use a ladder to work merchandise, on upper selves, /lights/etc, and customers are drawn to it like "moths to the flame". end up going up & down while other workers in the area are within 10 yds. grrrrr!

learned to get fellow workers at the base to deal w/the "where're your..." moths, so could finish the high work. (that or do it after closing)

learned safety early as not a fan of heights. secure it so could focus on the climb. "...okay...doing good...one more step...no the ladder isn't shaking that's your pulse..."

Denver cops refuse mandatory Covid vaccinations

luxintenebris says...

was gonna post this...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5DEGa0_AAo

...but thought it was appropriate in the discussion.

it's a public safety issue. easy to see if one looks at the actual reality of the situation.

Here are a few of the values listed in the Denver Police Department Operations Manual*...

- Integrity: Faithful performance of our duties and always doing the right thing for the right reason
- Accountability: Demonstrating responsibility in all activities
- Respect: Treating others as we would like to be treated
- Customer Service: Exceeding our customers’ expectations

... so if they ask employees in retail to wear masks, factory workers for drug tests, or a hairdresser to pass hygiene training - it's not a stretch to ask a cop to get a vaccine. their own handbook calls for getting vaccinated.

again, public safety.

Shoplifting Running Rampant

Mordhaus says...

https://abc7.com/shoplifting-video-san-francisco-walgreens-theft/10791421/

https://www.cnn.com/2021/06/16/us/san-francisco-shoplifting-walgreens/index.html

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/21/us/san-francisco-shoplifting-epidemic.html

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_California_Proposition_47

Since the passage, retail stores have reported a spike of 50 percent in shoplifting. In many cities, like San Francisco, it is almost ignored by the police because it is a waste of time to try to catch the suspect.

Walgreens and CVS have closed multiple locations in California cities because of the losses.

As much as @bobknight33 spams far right stuff, it is understandable to consider this suspect. But in this case, it is actually a major epidemic.

Let's talk about Trump's accomplishments...

newtboy says...

Oh fuck, Bobby...20 lies to debunk? You suck.

1) and how many lost?...tens of millions
2) citation needed, and even if true, there are many more unemployed too, there are more of us. What you neglect is that there are more trying to work because it’s impossible to live on one average income and even children have to work to pay the family bills
3) citation needed, and lost how many millions? The net has been a loss of manufacturing, most of his gains never materialized
4) for one quarter after declining at the fastest rate in history for two. If I drop you off a 100’ cliff yesterday, then lift you up by 6’ today, I still made your position much worse even though it’s incredibly better than yesterday when you were falling...I don't get kudos for picking you up after stomping you into the dirt.
5) economic growth the quarter before reduced by what was it, >30%? That’s still a loss, dummy. See #4
6) new unemployment claims hit 50year highs for 3 quarters before, and new rules take many unemployed off the list so it looks better for Donny. The unemployment rate is still historically high
7)average household income has decreased. Rich became much richer, poor became poorer. Average Americans saw a loss in income
8 ) already discussed unemployment, you’re misstating or obfuscating the whole picture
9) anyone suspected of being undocumented is removed from the list....not an honest number by far
10) more fake numbers
11) more fake numbers
12) more fake numbers
13) more fake numbers
14) more fake numbers

Here’s the real data, notice only three states weren’t in the worst unemployment position ever last year.... https://www.bls.gov/web/laus/lauhsthl.htm
Also note not a single one is at it’s historic low unemployment, and most saw record high unemployment rates for most of 2020.
I give him credit, at the beginning of 2020, before he screwed it all up with his failures over the Trump pandemic, about 1/3 of states were near record unemployment by the newer standards. I have to wonder how much of those gains were due to changing g the criteria for counting the unemployed.
When you drop your victim in a 100’ hole you don’t get kudos for throwing them a 6’ ladder
15) you mean thrown out of the programs, there’s more need than anytime since the Great Depression. It's incredibly dishonest to make qualifying for assistance far more difficult, then use the lower numbers of people who qualify as proof you improved conditions. Utter bullshit.
16) they’ve pledged that before. Call me when they graduate, until then it’s another empty promise
17) citation? Probably a Trump speech talking point
18) it was Christmas...they ALWAYS surge in Dec, usually by a ton more than this year. Let’s see the yearly number for 2020. I don’t believe for a second it was better than 2019...citation? Oops, looked it up, declined, didn’t go up. I think you’re looking at predictions for December, they were WAY below predictions.

US Retail Sales Unexpectedly Drop in December
US retail trade fell 0.7 percent from a month earlier in December 2020, following a revised 1.4 percent decline in November and compared with market expectations of a flat reading. That was also the third consecutive month of decline in consumption, amid record COVID-19 infections, high unemployment levels and lack of government's support. Receipts declined at electronics & appliance stores (-4.9 percent vs -8.3 percent in November), restaurants and bars (-4.5 percent vs -3.6 percent), food & beverage stores (-1.4 percent vs 1.5 percent), general merchandise stores (-1.2 percent vs -1.3 percent), sporting goods, hobby, musical instrument & books stores (-0.8 percent vs -1.7 percent), and furniture stores (-0.6 percent vs -2.1 percent). In addition, online trade slumped 5.8 percent, accelerating from a 1.6 percent decrease in the previous month.

19) not for people making less than millions a year, our tax cuts were minimal, temporary, and unnoticeable. What’s the debt now? He cut revenue and increased spending....thanks to failing to deal with COVID, it’s likely he doubled the debt. What was the low estimate, >$6trillion in unplanned off the budget socialist handouts to fix his lack of a public pandemic plan. This year the debt is going to outpace gdp....the deficit was up by 35% BEFORE the Trump recession.
$300 billion didn't leave...that number was the total high estimate of businesses that said they were moving off shore because they didn't want to pay taxes or said they would move back...if you believe him...and it was only for one quarter, a one time gain at a cost of >$1.2 trillion per year In lost tax revenue. Great plan. It was a one time thing, and much of that business left anyway within the year. GM plant? Foxconn? Harley Davidson? How much of that claimed $300 Billion was based on promises that never materialized?

20) not most small businesses, only those making what was it, >$500000 a year? That’s not most “small businesses “....and that tax rate is temporary, phased out completely after 10 years, corporate tax rates and rates for billionaires is permanent.

You must ignore or fake all economic data from 2020 to make these claims, and even then they would be dishonest exaggeration based on baseless claims from a constant liar.

Not one point you made is honest...that’s why you can’t provide references or citations, you would be embarrassed to admit it all came straight from Don the con’s lying mouth and not organizations that professionally study these claims.

Capitalism Didn’t Make the iPhone, You iMbecile

newtboy says...

In reality, it wasn't spare time tinkering at all, it was serious academics doing full time paid research funded by the government. ARPANET, while funded by the defense department, was designed by and connected college researchers, the first transmissions were between UCLA and Stanford in 69, not the military. This was the first networking, the infant internet.
The military system in the 60's was a point to point tonal encryption system that ran on proprietary bell telephone systems with dedicated direct phone lines until the FCC forced Bell to give up it's capitalistic monopoly in 68, allowing for advancements in both the public and eventually private sector that led to the infant internet instead of just individual "computers" (and I use the term lightly here) directly communicating. Remember, back then, almost into the 90's, you needed to know the direct phone number of the other computer to connect (think "War Games"), there was no publicly accessible network.
The first retail internet transaction wasn't until 94.

Also imo, it was weird individuals tinkering in their spare time that made home computing anything more than very expensive word processors/calculators. We've had PCs since the 70's in my home, I remember what they could do then....I'm one of those weird individuals.

Long and short, your 5 different capitalistic ways ALL stem from a purely socialist base and a socialist denial of private for profit monopolies, and most if not all of them were developed and implemented using at least some public funding. Without that, we would still be using bell telephone phone modems to direct dial each other. Without public/private cooperation, neither sector could advance like they have together.
Imo, it's not an either/or situation, it's both.

FPV drone pilot is invited to film a power plant demolition

cloudballoon says...

That's why I said "assume", and listed the "parameters" etc... if the hiring commission is for that type of video, then it's a fail. Is that not reasonable?

Conversely, if the commission is to just make a cool video for marketing, then it's a win if you like it Different assumption, different purpose, different perspective. I have no problem with that.

To me, the "corporate" guys seem/might not be that happy about the execution, but the Drone Racers Team sure are ecstatic. I can understand that, of course, it's a rare opportunity for them.

I take professional photos for architects (banks, high-end restaurants, retail & offices, etc). They set out what I need to capture: furniture, electrical outlets, height and space relation... all need to be in-frame, properly and neatly placed; garbage & plants, office supplies hidden, staff out of the picture, etc...i.e. parameters. Photos that I give them are often different from what I would take in the scene from an artistic perspective. Perhaps that warped by perspective on this video.

eric3579 said:

So how do you explain why everyone seemed extremely happy with what he captured? Surely if he had botched what he was suppose to do they would not have been so impressed with the footage. I assume they got exactly what they wanted.

The main reason is the actual victim is the retailer or the delivery company. It's their fault for leaving it on your step instead of demanding you receive it. If they're not going to press charges, there's no crime.
