Rage Against The Machine On BBC Radio

Rage Against the Machine RNC - 09.02.08 (Speech + Acapella)

thinker247 says...

Personally, I don't give a shit either way. I can advocate violence without moving from my seat, because I'm not advocating anything for myself. I'm merely suggesting a better alternative for those in this video who are willing to stand up and do something to fight against their "oppressors." I'm offering a solution that doesn't involve standing in front of a group of musicians and chanting along with whatever they say. I love Rage Against the Machine, but when the crowd mimics their every word like a bunch of lemmings, it bothers me. Because they're not really doing anything. I'll bet you that most of those people didn't change a goddamned thing that day. But they all went home and said, "I listened to RATM live and a cappella!"

I could transfer a message to millions of people by shooting a bunch of people in a McDonald's. Within minutes, every 24-hour news station would be focused on Boise, Idaho, and my "message" would be sent to millions around the world. But that wouldn't mean they couldn't change the channel a second later and shrug their shoulders, saying to themselves, "Another one? Wow. Oh well, time for my coffee break!" So it's not transferring a message that is important; it's how the action of that message is activated. But what does it matter if that message is sent to millions of people who turn the channel to Spongebob Squarepants? That's what millions do every day, and that's what our President does, because he loves Spongebob.

So I sit at home and quietly wait for the government to eventually destroy everything for which our predecessors worked so hard. Does it bother me? Yes, to an extent. But I know that in the end I really don't care that much either way. I'm a bit of a pessimist and an apathetic figure, if you must know. But at least I'm honest. I'd really hate myself if I advocated violence and then sat at home, hoping someone else would do it for me. But that's not me. Oh, time for my coffee break.

>> ^MINK:
weird how people write pathetic internet comments about how there should be an armed revolution, while sitting on their asses.
you're just embarassed here by someone actually doing something, actually transferring their message to millions of people... because you personally don't do shit.

hahaha. This part made me laugh:

RATM: We're just 4 musicians. Why the fuck are these cops afraid of us? Are they afraid of us?
Everyone: YEAAAAAH!!!!!
RATM: (Shakes his head)No, no
Everyone: NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
RATM: They're NOT afraid of 4 musicians...They're afraid of YOU!
Everyone: YEAAAAAAH!

Good video. Zack de la Rocha is a class act. After getting them primed like that, he could've sent them rioting through the streets, but instead he tells them to leave peacefully. Class Act.

I got chills @ 8:45. That was some powerful shit right there. Imagine being a cop in a crowd of 3000 chanting "fuck you I won't do what you tell me".

As much as I love RATM, it would have being chaos had they performed on the Capitol Lawn. This government has done a lot to piss off people, and Rage's music is the perfect vehicle for that anger.

saw em in San Fran with RATM....you would have loved it Jeff-when RAGE came on stage they threw handfuls of joints to the first few rows....like the old hippy daze of R&R.....I was parked on top of a port-a-can buzzed on brownies....

Snoop Dogg - Gin and Juice (uncensored)

The Top 20 Coolest Guitar Riffs

savethecirclepit says...

ok, the list is about half right in my opinion. The first thing that struck me was the shameless lack of metal songs. Come on, you have Green Day and Smashing Pumpkins but no Metallica, Motorhead or Slayer? Whats up with that? You could do a top 20 list on those three alone.
Here's a few:
Slayer- Raining Blood
Metallica- Master of Puppets
Van Halen- Unchained(now thats a cool riff)
Black Sabbath- Black Sabbath(the darkest riff ever written and root to all metal. I swear that riff envokes the devil himself. Iron Mans cool but...)
AC/DC- I think Highway to Hell is a beter riff
Motorhead- Ace of Spades(bass riff)
Judas Priest- Electric Eye
Rush-YYZ or Limelight
Ted Nugent- Cat Scratch Fever of Stranglehold
Boston-Piece of Mind
Doobie Brothers- China Groove
Kanasas- Carry On....
I also agree with the Cream and Jethro Tull additions as well as Dire Straits, Deep Purple(though Highway Star is better), GnR, Layla, RATM, Skynard, Stones and Zep(and a dozen other Zep songs) from the original list. But I feel Stairway To Heaven is a tired worn out, overrated, boring song. GASP! There I said it, now let the angry posts begin!

the NSFW isn't because of swearing, just that watching this at work will get you fired. They have RATM detectors.
I suppose this will be taken as more far left agenda shovelling but hey, i love my RATM.

possibly the strangest pre-load image ive seen on a vid for a while
