Exactly, It's comedy, at a comedy festival. It's not supposed to be sexy or slick or burlesque. It's supposed to be cheesy and clompy. Same as the "Puppetry of the Penis" guys are not trying to be the Chippendales. If you add sex, it makes all the couples who have come along for a laugh uncomfortable.

That said. I can't wait to see where she's got the rabbit hidden...

He's inflammatory, but so are a lot of us here.

Honestly, I think he's just a mostly-harmless bug. As long as he's a perpetual probie, he can't down-vote. Maybe he doesn't realize you get that privilege at bronze star level. He seems like the type who would enjoy it if he had it. (I try to downvote vids as sparingly as I can... comments are open game, though - check your facts or else )

That said, I find the time line of events surrounding his account creation fishy, and leads me to suspect that he really is someone's sock puppet account. I've been on internet forums long enough to recognize the patterns of trolls. Some people will go to great lengths to feel like they're being heard. I know that Dag says he doesn't see evidence of puppetry, but I also know that people on dynamic IPs can be difficult to track and pin down.

Either way, whoever he is, his views put him in a minority, both here, and in the real world. The Conservative Base is shrinking, and it's only natural for some members to get vocal about it. Its just the sound a fish flopping around, waiting for the mainstream to come to it, instead of the other way around.

My only contribution to this fine thread is to say that I have investigated- and can find no indication of sock puppetry from said Mr. Puppypacker.

I see non-self-promote more as a content optimizer, more than a power bonus.

Promoting other peoples stuff adds value to the sift in a way that begging and self-promotes do not. Since nobody, except sock puppets, has a vested interest in promoting somebody else's video, it seem that it will generate better promotes.

How about move promote down to silver and self-promote up to gold so that other peoples stuff can be promoted before you can promote your own, but still high enough to defuse sock puppetry?

The last round of siftquisitions had many people upset about the fact that there even were siftquisitions, and it was said that private (which apparently aren't private .. thanks for that) messages to an admin are a better way to go.

In any event, I don't have a problem with the siftquisition process, obviously .. since I've called my own. My main concerns for this new way going forward is that 24 hours is an unfair amount of time for an accused member to respond, and that anonymous voting encourages more sock puppetry on this site. You only have to sift one video to get rid of that probationary tag, really not too hard to do.

I appreciate the fact that you're trusting of the community and that you're trying to empower them. I mean that. I'm just voicing my opinion about things I see may be a problem with this new system. Apologies if I offended anyone.

edit .. if you want to vote to have a member banned from this site than that vote from you should be plain for all to see. That's my opinion. Sorry. Anonymous voting to ban people is just bullshit imo.

edit .. on a serious note, the only way this is going to work is if you extend the voting period to a minimum of 72 hours and also make the identity of the voters and what they voted visible.

I personally don't like this idea, only because I think it will encourage more sock puppetry and more SiftQuisitions in general. Let's create more tools to harmonize the community. We already know how to bring trolls to justice.

I think rottenseed got it right, for once. a man who gets himself locked in a dog cage three times is bound to dabble in sock-puppetry. this "scotty" fellow is so obviously a dupe as he is *gay (it was the three paragraph <gasp> that gave you away</gasp>)

Well it's not extremely difficult to find a good video..and in my proposal I did not state that it has to be necessary to have a sifted first post to be able to participate: a video in the (personal) queue should be good enough..I think this extra (yet easy) step makes community participation a lot more probable..

Since dag is the submitter (at the creator's request [he actually read the posting guidelines instead of just self-linking]), there're officially no shenanigans to redress.
