What does her actions have to do with school shootings? She wasn't attempting to show how easy she could bring a gun into the school. Unless this mother never lets her daughter leave the house, she goes to more dangerous places than school.

If she's concerned about the security at the school, she should have brought her concerns to the school board or bring it up at a PTA meeting and asked that they conduct a security audit, instead of taking it upon herself to do it.

We're living in the safest time in history, but thanks to the 24/7 media fearmongering, people are overly paranoid. Schools are more like prison these days than schools, and schools are trying to extend their control over students beyond the classroom, and it's conditioning them to believe that it's normal to be controlled/watched everywhere and have no freedom.

Statistically, her daughter is more likely to be raped, murdered or abused by a family member or friend, not some stranger sneaking into school to go to math class and eat a free lunch.

And no, I wasn't implying the mother is an attention whore. I merely pointed out that school is the least dangerous place her daughter goes. But, she did record her actions... for attention.

The teacher was clear, he was kicked out for continuing to argue after being allowed to state his opinion...a right he did not have but a privilege he was granted. That is disruptive, as is requiring individual attention a second time to discuss the same thing.

He was kicked out for repeating his opinion, disrupting class and the teacher.

The issue is being disruptive in class, thinking his uninformed opinion should shout down an informed one from the teacher, an opinion held by the school board and codified in the rules of conduct.

Regardless of what the douchebag kid thinks on this matter, he has no right to disrupt the class by debating policy.
The kid is free to think, but not to disrupt class. He may express his thoughts....at home or in open public forums, not class.

If you defy school policy, expect to reap the rewards of being removed from school and all that comes with that. Duh. Challenge, sure, appropriately, in appropriate venues and times, like a school board or PTA meeting, not during class. If you wish to challenge it inappropriately and disruptively, don't think standing on the right to speak gives you immunity from other rules or repercussions. That's not how it works. It's not an absolute right....I'll prove it, go argue gender in a federal court that's in session, see how long you remain standing and unincarcerated. Better yet, go argue something not insanely pro Trump at a Trump rally, see how many teeth you have in the morning...If you see morning.

Being able to articulate what the scientific method is, and unambiguously, unfailingly supporting it across the board should be a litmus test for politicians.
Today, I expect >1/2 don't even know what a litmus test is.

If you can't pass a 7th grade biology class, can't tell an ion from a prion, or can't tell the difference between verified scientific fact and religious dogma, that should disqualify you from any form of leadership, from the pta to the presidency. Ruling from dogmatic ignorance is always a recipe for disaster.

They are certainly free to make that mistake, but she will not win another election bigger than the pta leader, imo. The non zealots are done with her, even some zealots are.

The problem is, the justice democrats aren't in positions of authority in the party and aren't the majority. I would love them to take over, but I don't see a pathway to that future. What that means is, thanks to the DNC and Clinton, we may be on a fairly permanent right wing path because the dems largely aren't blind followers of any figurehead.

Every single movie by PTA wow i'm just weirded out -- it's like there's a broken metronome of pacing that feels almost on beat and always escalating like Willy Wonka in that damn tunnel creeping me out about the rowers rowing.

@lucky760 Yeah, I remember you raving about Gone Girl on sift talk. I liked it a lot too -- if this were a top 20, it would have been there for sure, but sadly it didn't quite make the cut. There were a ton of movies that just narrowly missed out -- Ida, Snowpiercer, Fury, Oculus, INHERENT VICE (seriously, it breaks my heart that a new PTA movie isn't on my top 10, but I just couldn't squeeze it in).

Something wrong in Hollywood? No, it's just business as usual: summer blockbusters make all the money (and therefore get all the green lights) and artistic films like PTA's get shuffled around in development for years. No new tale to tell in Hollywoodland.
