Would you join The Church Of Cannabis?

newtboy says...

Can NOW use religion as an excuse to hate other people?!
From everything I've seen, that's what religion is about.

Somehow I don't think the 'christians' are going to support non-Christians using that law in any way, and certainly not if it's used to discriminate against Christians...which I hope will be the way it's most often used until it's removed from the books.

It's like they didn't even consider that some business might be owned by non-Christians. How will they feel when their favorite restaurant won't serve their family unless they all praise Allah before being seated? As I read the law, that's perfectly OK now, right? Most religions strictly forbid allowing people with other religions/beliefs from consorting with the 'faithful' at all.

I think you mispelled my usersname there.

@newtboy @GenjiKilpatrick.

FTFY

Or did you miss the part where Newt called me a smarmy dick?

I approached this new thread in a calm, polite manner.

Then, when asked not to drag our personal debate into this new thread..

Newtboy proceeded to insult me & cherry-pick a strawman argument.

Two wrongs? Eye-for-an-eye? That's perfectly acceptable now?

This is why the videosift community is a joke.

@newtboy Why even bother trying to have a conversation with someone who has repeatedly made it clear that he -starts- from the position that if your opinion differs from his, you're nothing but scum? And then follows up with insult after insult, and not a single case of discussion.

Please don't feed the troll.

You're More Beautiful Then You Think

Her ass? It looked like two weather balloons being inflated under 10 sq. yards of canvas cloth. In the dark light of the club, she looked just shy of being neutrally buoyant , as she literally swept the other dancers off their feet with her wide swinging load.

You're More Beautiful Then You Think

chingalera says...

Oh man, what if your own description looks better than the person describing you? I asked myself a series of questions about my own features and began describing attributes of comely aspects rather than faults-Self-Esteem intact, check!

I seriously dig the unusual aspects of a person's face rather than the mundane or golden mean perfection of one-Funky noses and succulent, over-sized lips, and maybe some freckles and forehead wrinkles....crooked smiles are always good

Someone describe the perfect buttocks now...

Someone doesn't want Big Brother watching over him anymore..

Asmo says...

1. Lower taxation, these things cost money (initial outlay and ongoing costs) to keep an eye on a populace that, by and large, aren't doing anything wrong. Most of us don't want em, don't need em and don't want to pay for them.

2. Changing rules aka slippery slope. The people who agree to big brother on the first day might become victims of it later down the track. Once you establish a state where the citizens are constantly under surveillance and have accepted that onus, you can implement worse measures. Look at post 911 USA... Land of the free? As long as you don't mind the government setting up camp in your rectum 24/7.

3. There is no such thing as "safe". CCTV doesn't deter crime, it just catches the idiots too stupid to take it in to account (ie. people who cut down poles sans facial coverings for example...). Much like any other precaution, criminals find ways around CCTV. That is not an argument for more surveillance, it's an argument about the futility of it in the first place.

4. Sometimes the rules should be broken. How many things were illegal 100 years ago that are perfectly legal now? Worse, think of the things that were legal 100 years ago that are outlawed now (*hint: most of them are self harm crimes such as drug use etc) How often have nanny states tried to decree what you can and can't do only to find that people do not want to live under that rule? The camera is the start, if they can see what you are doing constantly, they can stop you. Why do you think organisations like Anonymous exist? To quote a memorable cutscene from Sid Meir's Alpha Centauri, "We must dissent...".

I can't visit Videosift from my home computer (Geek Talk Post)

legacy0100 says...

Hmm, this is odd. I posted this thread yesterday, came home, and accessed Videosift this morning right exactly this moment with my laptop at home.

And voila, now I'm on Videosift.

I'm guessing something was up with the Videosift servers then?

I dunno. All I know is that it's working perfectly fine now all of sudden. Weird!!!

Two brothers do director's commentary on old family videos

Lendl says...

Ya, the tone is perfect. Which now makes me wonder why all dvd commentary sounds the same...like strip club djs all sound the same. Something to contemplate while I drink my next beer. Happy NY everyone!

How To Dance At An Outdoor Drum & Bass Rave

jmd says...

It all makes perfect sense now..THIS must be what my mother warned me about when I was little. When she said don't go near beat up old station wagons with a bunch of old men deep in to a forest, I thought she was afraid I might get molested or kidnapped. Not at all. She was just afraid I might run into THIS!

Bill O'Reilly offers Karl Rove a place to hide

JiggaJonson says...

You know, I have been patrolling the neighborhood where O'Reilly supposedly lives for weeks now with six cartons of eggs in my passenger seat and have not seen him come out for the newspaper.

But this all makes perfect sense now. He lives in the "O'Reilly Cave" section of the tunnels under Fox's studios.

Dont worry, I'll flush him out of hiding and egg him one of these days. And the eggs, well, the longer it takes me the more rancid they will be when they finally strike their target.

'Perfect Woman' robot: They plan on marketing to single men

spoco2 says...

Oh come on... stop believing this crud, she is faker than a fake thing inside a fake other thing that is also quite fake.

It is a woman pretending to be a robot.

Why?
* Look at/in her mouth when she talks, that's a real mouth working right there
* Her movements are what a bad actress would think a robot would move like but not how humanoid robots actually move (like, robots have no reason to have stupidly slow blinks anymore, they can do that perfectly quickly now)
* The 'inventor' is doing his bit really badly as well, he's no inventor of a robot.
* Also, isn't it interesting that they don't actually SHOW anything of the 'expo' they are obviously supposed to be in due to the sound they've added...
* And yeah, they really have a robot that cooks dinner and converses... yeeeeeah.
* Oh, and they show themselves on a google map on their contact page, but that address don't exist on no google map page.

But don't worry pprt, I'm sure they're not trying to actually get any money out of this other than a marketing gimick thing, they won't be actually trying to raise money for robot purchases/builds. In fact it may purely be a social experiment to see how many people they can dupe, or some kind of art project. I don't mind these kinds of things, they're quite fun, what I DO mind is how many people just accept them as true, no critical eye whatsoever... it's maddening.

Let me put it in here that I think we'll find it's by a marketing company called 'Rocket Science'

I think it's pretty damn good, dag and lucky, especially now that you have it changing every 5 minutes. Perfect. Wouldn't change a thing.

Well...maybe you could change the font to Times New Roman, 16 pt., bold, italicized, underlined, in fuchsia, with rainbow sparkles, flashing at 23 Hz, and also translated into the following languages:
Hmong
Urdu
Swahili
Catalan
Western Apache
Then it will be perfect. For now.
