Center fielder first position player to ever record a save

cloudballoon says...

That's why it's called The USA's National Pass-out...er... I mean Pastime. I jest, I jest!

But hey, I spent my two-minute in this video looking for rats... and I failed to see any... how can this be?!

Rape charge dropped against USC student after video surfaces

bareboards2 says...

Oops. That information is NOT presented anywhere.

What I was thinking, and didn't say, is that legally there is no case.

Consent at the beginning is not consent at the end. A man can rape his wife. That wasn't possible for most of human history -- it is now.

So although there is plenty of evidence that she gave consent at the beginning -- video proof of consent -- that doesn't mean that he didn't do something later that the university looked at and said -- apparently, since they expelled him -- constituted sexual intercourse without consent.

How they arrived at that conclusion, we don't know. It is missing from what is reported here.

It is absolutely not clear to me that he is "clearly innocent".

Because a man can rape his wife. Right? Do you agree, @Mordhaus?

That lovely video showing that consent is like offering tea lays out the logic pretty clearly. Saying yes to tea at one point is not the same as saying yes to tea when you are passed out.

i am NOT saying that the university did the correct thing. I don't have any knowledge of what they based their decision to expel upon.

And nor does anyone here, as far as I can tell.

Trump Holds Crazy Press Conference to Defend Brett Kavanaugh

newtboy says...

More like Ford said he drunkenly hit and ran, Kavanaugh denied it, and 5 friends said they saw nothing and they think he's a good driver even when "going to sleep in public" drunk (he doesn't pass out, remember) in writing with no cross examination (making their claims completely meaningless under the law).
And let's not forget the other two who claim he hit and ran from them as well, still totally uninvestigated but the FBI is interviewing Ramirez today.

So, because there was no witness examination, there are no witnesses, so it's her word against his (now x3), by Republican design. If her (their) word(s) against his isn't enough to create reasonable doubt about his past actions to you, I declare you unreasonable.
If you're prepared to put another probable sex abuser on the court because they'll vote to protect Trump from his crimes (exactly why he's nominated, and why they won't rescind the nomination under any circumstances) I again declare you unreasonable.
If you think his demeanor and professionalism displayed in the hearings are appropriate for a lifetime member of the highest court in the land, yet inappropriate for a teenager caught drinking, I declare you unreasonable.

Ford saw 1 POV and 6 other saw a completely different POV. All swore under penalty of law.

This is the same as 7 people watch a car go by- 6 see red and 1 sees blue. What color was the car? Who do you side with?

Not sure the knife in the mouth was lethal by itself but it did compound with the other injuries which probably caused him pass out. Mouth to mouth resuscitation is probably not an option.

lv_hunter says...

DEA Whistleblower Exposes Powerful Players In Opioid Crisis

newtboy says...

My story: In 2001 I broke my back. I was started on vicodin and eventually Norco to minimize the Tylenol intake, at one point prescribed up to 8 Norco a day (I never took that many). This continued for 15 years, with my pain getting worse, until my doctor retired. My new doctor would not prescribe opioids at all, and put me on naproxen, which I was certain wouldn't cut it. To my surprise, it did, and soon my pain levels were incredibly lower with no medication (except marijuana) than they had been on up to 4 Norco a day. I still have pain, but averaging 2-3/10 instead of 4-8/10 (where 0 is no pain and 10 is passing out).

I now think I had opioid induced hypersensitivity, and that my meds caused most of my pain. I have to wonder how many others are still in that boat, playing addiction roulette and causing themselves pain.

Bodycam Shows Police Arrest Belligerent 18 Year-Old Woman

newtboy says...

Was the girl who was arrested driving? Due to video quality...unknown. Someone who was passed out was.
The motor was running.

The girl grabbed the bong, evidence, and threw it back in the car....on video....then made furtive moves pretending to both attack and run from the officers. She also, as a minor, refused to give her parents contact info, another reason to arrest and positively identify her to be sure she's not a runaway.

OK, I see, you're splitting hairs....driving while under the influence then....although I've smoked for over 30 years and never passed out cold on just weed so I'm not convinced it was just weed.

Was the motor running?

Can you prove beyond reasonable doubt that's what has occurred?
No.

Besides, I think weed is the most likely problem, given the cop repeatedly says "gimme the bong".

Bodycam Shows Police Arrest Belligerent 18 Year-Old Woman

newtboy says...

Yeah...because passing out while drunk driving isn't a crime, right?

Hef said:

I don't see what her crime is for the cop to start the arrest?
If she's initially arrested for running her mouth then why is the cop even on duty if that's all it takes for him to escalate the situation.

All I see in this video is a cop who oversteps his mandate, fails to de-escalate the situation and ends up assaulting a civilian when he should have just let them be.

And the cops wonder why they aren't trusted by the community!

Jim Jefferies on Bill Cosby and Rape Jokes

bareboards2 says...

@Chairman_woo

If you read my original comment, that says it all about how I feel about this particular "rape joke."

It'll get funny when we don't live in a world where women are fingered while passed out and teenage boys take video of the assault instead of stopping it. Like those Swedish bicyclists did.

Maybe these jokes are funnier in Sweden, where sexual assault isn't the norm.

Jim Jefferies on Bill Cosby and Rape Jokes

bareboards2 says...

Yeah. No.

He didn't nail it. He doesn't get it.

And I have heard funny rape jokes. It is possible to tell the truth about rape and be funny.

Maybe once rape isn't something that is filmed by young men standing around a passed out young woman at a party, maybe when that crap is STOPPED WHEN IT IS HAPPENING, instead of being filmed, then these jokes will become funny.

Until then....

Nope.

I'm not going to defend this point of view, so go ahead and tell me how I am wrong.

And then read this, written by Comedy God Oswalt Patton.

New Year's Eve from a bouncer's perspective

enoch says...

hmmm..i don't know.
this seems awfully tame.
where is the guy getting in the bouncers face chest thumping and questioning his sexual orientation?
or pleading his case after you caught him throwing up over the railing onto a toyota celica?
or being busted for passing out on the concrete, curled up into a cute little ball and begging "i just need a few minutes".
or the guy that loses his shit for being asked to leave, runs out into the middle of the parking lot, tears off his shirt and declares "i am from new york you fuck,i will bench you!"

for new years eve this is pretty damn tame.
where is the river of vomit?
the never ending male posturing and attempted fights with alcohol levels that would drop a horse?
where are the threats?
name calling?
constant bargaining?
tears?
and where the hell is the paddywagon parked just to the side for easy transportation to the drunk tank?

i think they edited the real juicy stuff out of this video.i feel cheated!

Lewis Black reads a new ex-Mormon's rant

newtboy says...

Don't know about @ChaosEngine, but I did suffer that kind of daily abuse for 15 + years from an older brother who beat me daily, locked me outside in the winter rains at night, burned me repeatedly, cut me repeatedly, took advantage of my claustrophobia by wrapping me in blankets and sitting on me until I would pass out, killing numerous pets of mine, etc, and I NEVER considered turning to an imaginary friend for help...not once....and my friends and family were completely useless helping me with him, so I'm awaiting your rant with bells on.

Lawdeedaw said:

Just gonna ask, since you commented as a person of knowing on this topic and; therefore, should have firsthand experience on the topic, have you ever suffered abuse Chaos? I don't mean a few licks here and there, or step-daddy hits you with a beer bottle now and then for six months to a year, I mean long term abuse, both mental and physical. Where you fear to wake up in the morning, but dread going to sleep far worse? If yes, I will leave the topic alone as you are someone who has "been there and done that", but if not, prepare for a rant my friend.

And on a side note, I agreed with you that MOST people DON'T need church, so the fact that you focus on "some" people needing it says you were really defensive...
