On civility, name calling and the Sift (Fear Talk Post)

With power comes corruption and of course it corrupts absolutely; including your perception then your judgment.

Banning can never be easy or like this: narcotic cops: "I smell marijuana; going in!".

Stupid actions for such a smart guy. Power is a narcotic.

The "anonymity" of the internet is also a drug, just look at 4chan. My guess is that he has separate accounts that don't have his real name on them, and thought he was logged in to one of those.

TYT - Report: War On Drugs Has Failed

God does exist. Testimony from an ex-atheist:

**sigh**

I think that we should all be able to agree on the following...
- The human mind can become very easily confused.
- Vivid hallucinations are a well documented phenomenon.
- There are many things that can impact a persons perception; narcotics, a lack of oxygen, too much oxygen, lack of sleep, some bad pizza before bed, etc.
- Those that are in a fragile or compromised state of mind are more susceptible to certain "experiences".
- In times of stress the human mind can latch onto an idea and cling to that idea like a life raft.
- People can truly believe in what they experienced regardless of any contrary evidence.
- A person can pass a polygraph if they believe in the truth of their answers.
- Just because someone believes that they experienced something it doesn't make it so.

Why is it that if someone has an "experience" that is in any way associated with religion they are pushed forward by supporters of that religion as being validation of their beliefs but if someone has an "experience" that is associated with Elvis, Aliens, or Bigfoot they are deemed to be lunatics? How different is it really to suggest that you were visited by the omnipotent creator of the universe than it is to suggest that you were visited by an intelligent alien life form from a far off planet?

Alternative Medicine Medic...

Western medicine tends to be really good in one area - trauma.
guess where western medicine learned most of it's trauma skills...? yes indeed, the battlefield.
For other things such as chronic pain, western med generally sucks. Partly because you have a for-profit system that makes far more money treating than through prevention or cure.

I spent years trying to get something done for my cluster headaches. Eventually, a pain clinic helped me the most. Small amounts of long-acting narcotics for the "leftover" headache, but high-flow oxygen (12-14 L/h) kills it dead in it's tracks, assuming I stay on it for about 30 minutes or so. I requested that, not the doctors...

Otherwise, I would be playing merry-go-round with anticonvulsants, narcotics, and antidepressants. I would also be very pissed as cluster migraines hurt like nothing else. Even pulled muscles/tendons, broken bones, appendicitis, etc... got nothing on that pain level. (It can radiate as far as my lower thigh and cause me to keep my eyes closed due to the pain from light--it feels like someone is stabbing a needle through/into your eye, even with an extremely small light, like a power-button LED...)

gamble.
what duckman is saying is true pertaining to your argument because it is not an argument at all.
if we used your premise we should make cell phones or doing your make-up while driving class1 narcotics.
do you see how ludicrous that would be?
lets add nyquil while we are at it.

i am not suggesting that weed does not impair your faculties and may be a cause for vehicular accidents,i am suggesting it is irrelevant to this particular argument.
what you propose is a different argument entirely.

Swarzenegger signs California bill decriminalizing Cannabis

gwiz665 says...

Like @MarineGunrock I don't smoke either, never really have (aside from a few choice parties) and I'm also looking forward to it being legal. Prohibition doesn't work as long as the drug is relatively harmless.

The pros are way bigger than the cons. Just legalize it already.

Consider hard narcotics next, to cut down the narcotics related crime.

Zero Sum Poll: Pro-Choice or Pro-Pot? (User Poll by shuac)

Sagemind says...

I don't understand the poll. What are we voting on?

The vote choices are messed up.
I don't understand why Pro-choice is grouped with No Smoke, and Smoking Narcotics is grouped with making babies.
Just doesn't make sense.

I vote:
Pro-choice, let the woman choose what to do with her own body.
Smoke what you want, just as long as it doesn't affect me or others.

I enjoyed what you had to say about violence being the narcotic of the mentally stunted. Very very true. I live in a semi-dodgy area, not particularly awful but theres enough stunted people around that having to deal with that all the time, gets tiresome, so its nice to see fellow humans not down with the whole inflicting suffering thing

In reply to this comment by enoch:
like my poppa used to always say 'don't let your alligator mouth try to write checks your hummingbird ass can't cash".
while the dude was just being stupid and runnin at the mouth it was the girls with the camera that were instigating that dumb ass.first they feign horror at the dude getting pummeled and then basically laughed at him.
why is it there is always some stupid girl crying "kick his ass" and then when it goes south for their supposed "champion" they get indignant?
it is just idiocy.
now the dude is bleeding over everything and trying to regain some semblance of dignity by continuing to talk trash and the girls just laugh at him.
violence is the narcotic of the mentally stunted.

thanks man.
it is sad to watch is it not?
i truly believe that the more saturated our society becomes with media wrought by consumerism.
the less value many people seem to put on human life, freedom and dignity.
respect and honesty are pushed aside for self-indulgence and instant gratification.
mike judge created the movie "idiocracy" as a comedy.it is becoming apparent that it may have been more prophetic than comedy.
