Kid Loses Fight With Mom.

Throbbin says...

My mother once threw my little brothers N64 out the 2nd story window for the same reason. He was thoroughly addicted to it. He wasn't doing his homework, wasn't doing his chores, wasn't taking care of his puppy, wasn't otherwise respecting and listening to my parents.

So, she threw it out the window one day. And let me tell you, it worked. He came to understand she is the ultimate authority in the house, rational or not. It's not what I would have done, but she did it and it sent the right message.

That's why I have an original NES and N64 sitting right next to my Xbox 360. I can always kick it old school.

If anyone is having any difficulty trying to figure out how to open it, click on tools, then at the bottom, you'll see FireNES. If you want to see the controls, click on tools>Add Ons> then FireNES options.

How Plasma TVs are made.

This is quite interesting, but to those of you looking for a TV, I highly suggest you look at something other than plasma.

In the video, they say that plasma tvs display 1 million colors. This is nothing. 32 bit color (the highest available, which has been standard for years on computer monitors and should be on HDTVS, and is different from say 64 bit processing ala the N64) is 24 million colors.

Get an HDTV.

1997 was definitely the pinnacle year in portraying what video games could become. Like someone said, GLQuake was a breakthrough in 3D graphics card support (obviously meaning that before it - the 3d engines were rendered in SOFTWARE mode), Quake II came out, Fallout was one of the most intelligent, dark and humorous games ever released - even to this day AND - the original Grand Theft Auto came out - so obviously 1997 should be 1.

There were so many great games from 1997 - here's an incomplete list of games from 1997 via Wikipedia:

* February 10 - Mario Kart 64 (N64)
* February 28 - Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (N64)
* March 20 - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS) (Sega Saturn)
* April 30 - Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter (PC)
* May 31 - MDK: (PC) (PS)
* June 26 - Dungeon Keeper (PC)
* July 1 - Star Fox 64 (N64)
* July 30 - Carmageddon (PC)
* August 25 - GoldenEye 007 (N64)
* August 31 - HeXen II (PC)
* September 7 - Final Fantasy VII (PS), (PC)
* September 19 - Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee (PS), (PC)
* September 30 - Fallout (PC)
* September 30 - Total Annihilation (PC)
* October - Grand Theft Auto (PC)
* October 9 - Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II (PC)

Hey man. Just wanted to fill you in on Conker's Bad Fur Day.

That's a real boss. Really, that part of the game was mainly done just for the sake of having a gigantic boss made out of shit that sang. And, well, the whole throwing toilet paper into its mouth to kill it thing as well.

The game came out way back when on the N64. The video here is from that version. It's also on the Xbox and is called CBFD: Reloaded or something like that.

It started out on the N64 as a project in development called Conker and the (insert random lame kid stuff here). The game wasn't doing too well though. People didn't like it.

Then they came out of nowhere with Conker's Bad Fur Day. The squirrel that was squeaky clean that everyone had read about all of a sudden developed a taste for blood, profanity, and alcohol.

Since you own the game already, of course, you should download the ROM for an N64/Xbox(?) emulator. It's too hard to actually pay any money for, but it's worth checking out for history's sake.

Both versions pushed the hardware to the max. I highly recommend using an emulator.

The economics are interesting. At the moment I guess all those N64 cartridges are depreciating inventory- but at some point, with the nostalgia factor does it start to appreciate again- like a mint Chevy Nova?

Atari 2600 cartridges have gone up in value, no?

Ladies and gentlemen, meet the PlayStation 3 Kid
