I see no video being displayed for this......I don't want to mark it inappropriately, so just mentioning and hoping someone else sees the same issue. I see nothing to indicate that an embed exists here.

No video here too in both IE7 and Mozilla's SeaMonkey v2.0.14 web browsers. Nothing in the source code too!

Very odd. I swear it was working this AM! Fixed, now. =)

It's a new feature and we did semi-randomly select the current videos, but with a different reason for each video, but it's mainly as an exploratory thing.
Sorry it's a bother, ant, but at least it's just a matter of scrolling down a few pixels.

160 vertical pixels is a lot.

It's barely bigger than your toolbar collection. What is up with that mess?

Hence, why I don't like the one in web pages. It would be nice to have an option to hide the VS' ones. And yes, I use a lot of addons/extensions (about 16; not plugins).

Get this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/seamonkey/addon/stylish/
Create a style that contains:

div#tile-grid-wrapper { display: none !important; }

I haven't decided whether I'll add it to my declutter sheet yet. Since it's only on the front page, it doesn't bother me a lot, and it may yet turn out to be interesting.

Thanks. I also haven't decided for the same reasons. You mean front pages since there are other pages of the first page.

VideoSift Instant Messaging (IM) (Sift Talk Post)

Is it me or does the IM windows open up after a while being idled? I went to sleep and had many tabs of VS videos opened overnight (after midnight PDT). I came back after overnight in the late morning hours, and saw every VS tabs with IM windows opened. I didn't even open them. What the heck?

Hmm. That sounds really unusual, and it shouldn't be possible given how the IM window is designed to function. Once you close the window on a page, it completely ceases all activity until you click to open it again. Not sure what happened with your browser.

I will keep my eyes opened for it. It was very weird! I tend to leave my web browsers, with many tabs (can be up to 50 , up for many hours especially overnight. FYI, I was still using Mozilla's SeaMonkey v2.0.14 web browsers with AdBlock Plus, disabled referers, FlashBlock (only play videos when I am ready), etc.

Maybe there's need to be an option to disable/hide IM too.

Hi ant,
I tried to submit a video from this site. No Go. The embed code was huge and @siftbot gagged on it.
The pics of the night sky were incredibly beautiful though.

Interesting. I will have to try one. I noticed my Mozilla's SeaMonkey v2.0.14 web browser shows an incomplete embed code. Did yours have that problem?

Firefox 6.0 showed only a portion of the code, but all of it copied (as far as my under experienced eyes could tell). I tried this one.
The SeaMonkey project looks interesting. Would it be of use to an amateur like me?

I will have to wait for my submission queue to free up. I know my test submission worked. As for SM, if you want a suite Mozilla product. Firefox is just a web browser. SM has web browser (same engine), e-mail, newsgroup/usenet reader, IRC client, web page editor, etc.

Problems Uploading Preferences (Sift Talk Post)

NetRunner says...

@mintbbb the main thing I said was "I'm having that problem too, and not just with Videosift."

It's pretty bad with VS though. Through some googling I found this which at least sounds like the issue.

The official Firefox page describing the issue is here, and at least on two of my PC's I've confirmed it's not the malware thing.

Also, if it's a bug in Firefox, it's also not fixed in 6.0. Other browsers (Opera, Chrome, IE) work fine.

Assuming you've got it disabled for privacy concerns, you may have better luck with spoofing.
Something like this: http://www.stardrifter.org/refcontrol/

Yeah, I tried spoofing with PrefBar extension in Mozilla's SeaMonkey v2.0.14:
Send nothing/blank for referrer = blocked
Send a fake non-URL referrer = blocked
Send an invalid/fake URL referrer like http://TrackThis.!!! = not blocked
It is tracking previous web site. Basically, videosift.com and doesn't like it.

So there's your solution: Set it to send a fake referrer. It maintains your privacy without breaking shit.

Still lame for YouTube to be stalking/tracking us.
