His Leg!

cloudballoon says...

Wouldn't hurt for him to say: "My PROSTHETIC Leg!" Would be tragically ironic if the guy trying to save him got a heart attack while handling his emotion/adrenaline.

That said though, pretty cool to see that's not stopping him motocrossing!

People needs to see the UK's weekly "The Last Leg" show, those guys are hilarious.

Runaway Snowmobile after a trick jump gone wrong

Sagemind says...

@kymbos @Fletch @pavel_one

Jackson Strong is an extreme Motocross rider, and a dam good one but he is not a rider of sleds.
Within a week after winning gold in LA, he decided he would try his luck at XGames Aspen. He went out and bought himself a snowmobile just for the event, flew to Minnesota and trained for four hours before arriving to compete. His plan was to pull the same trick he did on his motocross, (called the Jack), only this time on the sled to see if he could pull another gold metal win without even putting in the time to properly train.

Watch this report which happened live at the event: http://videosift.com/video/Jackson-Strong-Crashes-on-his-first-run

"Jackson Strong is great at doing tricks in motocross, but his snowmobile skills need work. Strong only had four hours of experience on a sled, but decided to enter the best trick competition at the Winter X Games anyways. What happened next really needs to be seen to be believed.
I really think that Strong should have thought more about doing this. He is lucky someone did not get seriously hurt because of this stunt. Luckily everyone was paying attention and they were able to bail out of the way before the sled could have done a lot of damage."

There is no way he qualified for an X-Games event with only four hours on a snowmobile. Possible he only had four hours on this particular snowmobile, but I think the report you saw had bad info or just wasn't very clearly stating what info they did have.

Motocross rider surprises wandering girls

braindonut says...

I might freeze up, who knows... Never had that happen. But I think the better question is, who the hell thinks it's an ok idea to walk along a motorcycle path when you can hear a motorcycle coming. It's not like those things are quiet...

>> ^BoneRemake:

Hahahahaha, in this case I will laugh, who the hell freezes up when there is a flying motorcycle zooming at your face.

X Games 17: Women can't dunk, but have good fundamentals

This one men's highlight video? Maybe they are just cherry picking. If so, that's a dick move.
>> ^westy:
the mans version of this event was not much better , also if you watch the full and unedited video of this its not at all as bad.
the reason they were falling off allot is because it was a new type of event ( the men fell off allot as well ) and I think the riders were not accustomed to it particularly, the riders in the femail race were primarily versed in a different form of motocross racing I assume because there are far less women doing motor cross and different types of it so there is not as brad a skill set as with the male competitors ,

yah , if you wach the full woman's one its not so bad , granted the men were better than the women but the clip makes it look far worse than it was in reality.

Daddy's Evil Laugh Scares Baby

I'm so sorry to be the agent of this, mint. I had hoped that my vid link to the silly motocross vid would leaven the situation.

Maybe this one will work? I love love LOVE this video. I watch it every year or so. When the egg is passed? French comedy gold!

Please stay. Put me on ignore. After you watch the Emperor vid. I guarantee it will make you smile.

OK, I give up. A while back I told myself I wouldn't read any comments on (my, or any) videos, because they'd just end up upsetting me and I'd have to just leave VS. I am even trying to not to watch any serious videos. There's just too much crap out there, and I don't need to see it when I am just trying to not to get depressed about life again.
I forgot. I read the comments. I am depressed.
VS just isn't for me.

Daddy's Evil Laugh Scares Baby

bareboards2 says...

I'm sorry you lost your papa so early. That is fucked up, too.

I think it is great that it never occurred to you that someone would set out to make their child cry. That speaks well of your parents and your happy childhood.

My feelings weren't hurt by this video -- sorry if I gave that impression. My father was ignorant and unthinking. He would never consciously hurt me -- nor is the guy with stretched lobes consciously hurting his child.

All I am trying to do is make conscious to unreflecting minds that you don't do this to a baby or a small child. It needs to be said. Not everyone needs to be told this. My dad needed to hear it. This guy needs to be told. Neither of them thought/think they are doing anything untoward -- this guy posted the vid on Youtube! Someone up above makes a comment about what a great face the baby makes. It needs to be said, clearly. So I am saying it.

My delivery may be overwrought. The message is simple.

I'm staring at a half empty bottle of wine left over from last night's weekly So You Think You Can Dance tv party. It is looking more tempting all the time...

There's a great vid of women failing rather spectacularly at motocross that is pretty amusing. Have you seen it yet? http://videosift.com/video/X-Games-17-Women-can-t-dunk-but-have-good-fundamentals

>> ^mintbbb:

Is OK.. Like I said, I didn't mean to post this to hurt anybodys feelings. Maybe I am naive to think that nobody would make a baby cry on purpose. One thing that ticks me off here is people saying that the dad must be a mean because he has stretched earlobes. I do not like extreme body modifications like that myself, but having them doesn't make you a bad or mean person.
I know my parents didn't scare me as a kid, and my dad was the most wonderful person ever, and he died when I was 18. I had a happy childhood, my parents were great, and still I ended up being pretty much totally fucked up: I am insecure, I keep my distance, I am grumpy, scared of way too many things, and I get easily obsessed with things like VS, or WOW. And that's just the top of the iceberg! I am lucky to have found my DH NetRunner who puts up with my weirdness and loves me no matter what.
I do not know why I ended up this way. Maybe if I had been scared with a 'muhahaha' as a baby I would have grown up to be less afraid of silly things. Who knows. I think I was being kept too safe as a kid and the real life scared the crap out of me.
Every kid grows up different. I still think this dad didn't mean to make his kid cry. Unfortunaterly he did, but I am sure the kid will be OK. This dad is not going to torture his kid even if he has stretched lobes!
OK, probably time for another drink now.. I was not going to comment on this.. I just want to sift silly, mindless videos that make people happy. Most of the time.

I'm thinking that there is a lot of upper body strength needed for extreme motocross. Maybe more time at the gym and a big dose of steroids needed by the women in order to deal with this course?

This is seriously embarrassing to watch.

Art table milled from a 400kg slab of aluminium

Payback says...

If they had cast the table into that basic design then cleaned it up afterwards with the CNC, it would have taken a fraction of the power and non-aluminum materials.

I'm also not impressed with the design. For what was done, other than the amount of aluminum discarded, it's pretty basic. I was far more impressed by that motocross helmut someone else did.

mind blowing breakdancing. what more do you want?

MilkmanDan says...

I know roughly jack shit about breakdancing, but that was fun to watch.

My only problem with judged Olympic-type events is that a routine that looks fantastic to a new viewer is often outranked by more technically difficult routines that don't looks as amazing to the untrained eye. This is true for figure skating, gymnastics, snowboarding, motocross, and on and on. I don't mean to suggest that judges should rate performances by audience reactions, but it can be incredibly frustrating to listen to the expert commentary:

(analyst) Oh, he was incredibly sloppy in the last quarter of his final revolution there...
(me) Dude, that guy just spun around in the air some number of times that I couldn't even accurately count while suspending himself with his pinky. Sometimes I fall down when I put my pants on one leg a time in the morning.
