The Minibosses cover of "Metroid." It gave me chills. has been added as a related post - related requested by braschlosan.
What Is Your Favourite Video Game Music? (Videogames Talk Post)
One of my favourites is Kraid's lair, from Metroid. As someone on YT commented: "Listen again to this song. For the ENTIRE track, there are only TWO lines of notes playing. Two. That's 2. And it sucks you in and holds you there."
Pretty sure I could list over a hundred more!
You Forgot To Hit Pause...
This made me really nostalgic. Not just the pixel art, but the music too.
Playing the SNES in a video game haze to a background of melancholic 90's rock, buoyant punk and grunge apathy; smoking too much; drinking cheap beer and vodka (and whatever else we could get our hands on).
Waking up on an old sofa chair bathed in dimly flashing colours and quiet, looping chip music.
Super Metroid; Prince of Persia; A Link to the Past; Secret of Mana; Mortal Kombat and Super Mario Kart.
Spider-Man and Wolverine comics, and Kerrang! on the floor.
And an otherwise, abject poverty.
Seems like another life now.

Soo...Metroid or Transformers?

I didn't have Nintendo when I was young so I wasn't into their games.
It's a guy giving significant video review/coverage of every single famicom released, in chronological order. After 39 episodes averaging an hour in length he's just gotten through December 1988.
It's on Youtube now but the first couple dozen episodes are only on archive.org.

Great series, this. Ant, you seem pretty into this shit. You watch Chrontendo?
Nope, where is that? I just like watching video and computer game documentaries even if I am not into those game series.
Cool! http://chrontendo.blogspot.com ... Hey, you should submit the videos to VS.

All Your History: Metroid Part 1: Power Ups
Countless hours playing the original Metroid as a kid. I'm glad they mentioned the sense of isolation -- you really felt it. This game was creepy as hell. And when you first encounter the Metroids? Fucking terrifying!
But I think the best thing about the entire game is one piece of music -- Kraid's lair.
I quote: "Listen again to this song. For the ENTIRE track, there are only TWO lines of notes playing. Two. That's 2. And it sucks you in and holds you there."
It's right up there with Diablo's Tristram, for me.

Here, play this game because it exists: http://quiz.ravenblack.net/blood.pl?biter=Nithindul

Become a vampire and together we will rule the grid -- the evil grid!

As far as the very last comment he makes in the video go there's a site called metroid2002 that is devoted to people spending way too much time playing Super Metroid who try to find ways to collect 100% of the items in said game as fast as they can. Someone out there has been late to work because they thought to themselves "If I can just figure out how to get all the items faster, I will have made a difference in the world." Really? In that you made a post on a gaming site? No, in that you exist, you interacted with your existence, and THAT is what life is.
This is a great summary of what WoW was like in vanilla compared to what it's like now, and people will play it simply because it exists. Like they do. That's the only reason people need to play ANY game.
You cannot play a game that doesn't exist. So if the game exists, why does it matter what people play it for? They play it because to them it's part of their life!

Zero Punctuation: Metroid Other M
Wish I had seen this review before I bought it. Absolute worst Metroid in the series and shouldn't even have the title. He barely touched on the control scheme (missiles, melee, etc) and how utterly bad it is.
