"Mostly Fair" Media

newtboy says...

Only 3% of BLM rallies had violence perpetrated by some of those marching, the same as had violence perpetrated against them by right wing groups like proud boys and boogaloo boys. All bombings, police assassinations, drive bys, cars driving through crowds, armed gangs hunting BLM, and planned terrorism was by right wing actors often trying to blame BLM. You don't hear that on Fox.

Oh my fucking God, did that idiot just claim ALL media bias is from the left and against the right? Lmfahs! *lies and *debunked

Hilarious to hear Stossel complain about media bias, he's so far right he turned his back on reality decades ago. Another big fail, @bobknight33

Can Alcohol Cause Cancer?

From Media Bias website: " Science Based Medicine debunks one by one, many of Dr. Gregers claims. They also claim that NutritionFacts cherry picks information that will always favor veganism. NutritionFacts.org does provide some valuable information and certainly a diet high in fruits and vegetables is preferred, but Dr. Gregers claims are extreme."

Not a consumer of alcohol myself, but this seems about right...

"There is plenty of scum to go around on both sides."

Ahh the classic false equivalency that Trump supporters often resort to.

First of all, every child should be taught at a young age that just because other children may act like little shits, that doesn't mean they can. The amount of functional adult Trump supporters who use "the Democrats are bad too!" as an excuse for Trump's behavior is just astounding. It's really just a pathetic diversionary tactic used to avoid discussing the issues at hand.

Second, your claim that Democrats are just as cruel is simply not true. Blaming Democrats for the very thing Trump is guilty of is a common smear tactic employed by extremist right wing propaganda.

Take Trump's zero tolerance policy which separated minors from their families for example. Right wing propaganda outlets like OAN love showing pictures of children housed alone in Obama era detention facilities and cry foul at the liberal media at the lack of coverage. The reality is that Obama faced a huge surge of thousand of unaccompanied minors from south america in 2014 who were detained. So yes, thousands of children were detained, but they were NOT separated from the families in the first place.

And while some families were separated during Obama's tenure, Obama's policies tried to limit this as much as possible. It is a far cry from what Trump's zero tolerance policy accomplished. The "liberal" media did not report this under Obama OR Bush simply because it was not an issue. If you believed that there was unfair media coverage for Trump on this issue, then you were lied to and manipulated. Its part of what we discussed earlier how Trump uses lies to discredit the media and further erode our democracy.

The point is that right wing propaganda and Trump himself routinely uses lies and deception to paint himself as the target of a "liberal media bias" that they themselves manufactured. And his gullible supporters like yourself love believing in his victim complex. If you don't believe me, then just refer to non partisan international sources like the BBC and you'll soon discover that Trump is just as shitty from an impartial view as the "biased liberal media" portrays him.

Both sides are not the same, no matter what lies Trump and Fox News et al. tries to tell you. And there are plenty of respectable media sources which are not CNN which also exposes Trump for the lying scum that he is.

This is the issue here.
You despise Trump and so does the liberal dominated media so they gloss over shit the Left do and come down harder on Trump etc.
There is no excuse for the garbage reporting going on.
None.
I suppose you think Kavanaugh was treated fairly too.
The Fusion thing is all just a pack of lies concocted by Alex Jones etc too right?
Blatant showboating about how cruel Trump is when it has been proven time and time again the Democrats held the same views and would never let caravans in...
Funny how things are viewed when you are a religious fanatic as the left is becoming in their
rage against all things Trump and GOP.
Keep looking at things through rose colored glasses my friend.
There is plenty of scum to go around on both sides.

CNN Red Pills itself. The Economy is GREAT.

drradon says...

I'm not a fan of Trump - but these are some of the hard questions that the media should be asking all candidates - not just the ones they don't favor...

The mass media bias favoring the leftist narrative has become so blatant that it is no longer credible on anything...

This Administration Is Running Like A Fine Tuned Machine

bobknight33 says...

The media have been dishonest or best disingenuous to this guy. It not that they age anti Trump They are ANTI Republican.

Them media bias Trump negatively while placing positive bias spin on Democrat ideas..

I would say you as the one blinded on this issue.

Americans do stand for Trump. Enough to elect him.
Look like I have always said I am a Cruz fanboy.
Trump is not a Republican. If he ran with a D on his jersey he still would have won. HE is pro business and pro military I am OK with that. He is not anti gay. He just came out as being anti abortion ( remains to be seen).

If he he ran with a D on his shirt the media would love him and demonize Cruz. It just the way it is. Media are Liberals. Why fight these truths?

Now does Trump have the right to call then out on falsehoods?
Yep he does.

HE should point out how biased they are and not just fake news..

Wow... See above comment...

Of course you just dismiss that as dishonest media, and proceed to swallow everything this imbecile says. For the love, listen to yourself. What are you insecure by proxy? This loser is holding campaign rallies to feel better about himself, and you and the people there seem to be sharing in it. Maybe if they wish for it hard enough they can suppress their cowardice and ignorance long enough to form a dissonance bubble where they can just hide from reality and never have to leave. They can have Limbaugh and Hannity pumped in from the speakers and they never have to think for themselves ever again.

@bobknight33
ya know bob,at some point you are going to look back at these comments,or someone is inevitably going to bring them to your attention in the future, and you are going to be forced to eat a slice of humble pie.

i am not disagreeing with you in regards to corporate media bias, and that some people consume only those outlets that appeal to their own prejudices and biases.

as this election has made abundantly clear:both those who identify as democrat and republican are guilty of confirmation bias, and had fallen into the trap of their own personal echo chambers.

so many supposed "news" outlets were aught red-handed pandering, obfuscating and sometimes promoting outright propaganda.

the latest outlet to get caught in this fuckery is the washington post, and i suspect there will be many many more.

my point is simply this.
propaganda works, and it is an effective tool to control attitudes and opinions, they do not even have to "win" the argument, they just have to make a person reconsider their position by postulating possibilities, make one go "well,maybe..that could happen"...and they win.

so you are right in regards to fake news that appeals to the more "liberal minded" but do not think for a second that there are also corporate "news" outlets that appeal to the more "conservative minded".

we all, each and every one of us,are susceptible to this tactic.we all can be manipulated by appeals to emotions, our sense of justice and fairness, and of course..our prejudices.

the only way to combat this tactic is by remaining vigilant and do our due diligence.this starts by listening to people we may disagree.by fact checking and discussing with one another to test the veracity of the claims by certain outlets.

speaking only for myself i dumped corporate media years ago.

it is still an imperfect system i use,and i have posted fallacious content (not intentionally) and been called out for it's bullshit.

i didn't like being called out,and felt shame for my laziness and the fact i posted because it adhered to my own preconceptions, but i was the better for it.

so be careful when you make declarations of certitude by using corporate media outlets as a source, because more often than not, that information has been manipulated to appeal to a certain mindset and attitude.

liberals have known for decades the FOX news is a corporate media propaganda machine, but they have also been just as much a victim of the very same tactics by such outlets as MSNBC and CNN.

american conservatives are not the problem, nor are american liberals.

it is the corporate media who is beholden to those who wield power and influence, and seek to manipulate the opinions of the american people in order to retain THEIR power and THEIR influence and therefore diminish the cohesive community of the american people.

ok..i really don;t know where i am going with this..i had a point somewhere.

basically stop using corporate media as your references bob, otherwise you are going to be pantsed in public, and that is an ickly feeling.

Trump Exposes Trump

Oh yawn.

What a tired argument. The level of denial it takes to watch a video entirely in trumps own words and suggest that somehow its media bias that unfairly portrays him this way, its almost impressive bob. Truly, i'm genuinely impressed.

Progressive Dems To Clinton: This Race isn't Over

ChaosEngine says...

Oh FFS. Look, I wish Bernie was the nominee too, but it's not going to happen.

Clinton IS the nominee, whether you like it or not. That's not media bias (although that certainly put her in this position), that's MATH.

Bernie is nearly 200 delegates behind her in pledged delegates, never mind the super delegates.

He would need to absolutely trounce Clinton in California, where the polls are predicting the opposite.

It's sad and your electorate made the wrong choice (on both sides) but it's reality and Bernie supporters need to wake the fuck up and deal with it.

why is the media ignoring the sanders campaign?

Iraq Explained -- ISIS, Syria and War

Truckchase says...

I see what you're saying, but it does more harm than good. For example, the video wraps up by saying "Somehow, we have to break this circle." While it isn't called out explicitly the implication is that "we" represents anyone other than ISIS/ISIL, etc. My contention is that "we" need to stay out of this mess; this whole region is carved up in a way that served the British empire prior to World War 2. Until the people that occupy that region have the ability to carve out their land for themselves the very circle he refers to will keep occurring.

Main point: This video serves to support an undeclared media bias towards more "intervention" and softens the public to additional western military action.

aimpoint said:

I don't think a short attention span is enough justification to say this is a bad example of a video. If people aren't interested in a subject you can't force them to be interested, but at the same time, the video's visualizations showed without telling where someone who wanted to know more where to look. Even in the video they annotated that this is more of a research jumping off point, that it is indeed a compressed version, and even paid a little lip service to other complications if only to get you going on your own.

I spent a good few hours looking at ISIS, trying to figure it out myself a week before this video came out, now that this video is out it did the same in about 4 and a half minutes. Granted, this is without on demand sourcing of sources, but like I said above, its a great primer. For people that want to know and don't, this is a good place to start. For those who don't care why does it matter?

Ron Paul's Maine delegates protest RNC

truth-is-the-nemesis says...

^Fairbs

I do not get my information from Youtube, it's great for entertainment - not so much for accurate Information.

Here are some relevant points I found from a Washington Post article dated April 6, 2012 entitled "Why Ron Paul rallies never translate into votes".

Ron Paul recently held a rally at UCLA, and between 6,000 and 10,000 people attended. The rally itself was a complete success. Yet while Ron Paul has consistently attracted larger, more enthusiastic crowds than his GOP competitors, those events always fail to translate into victories at the ballot box. Ron Paul has never won a presidential primary or caucus.

The media bias argument is nonsense. The media could never hate Ron Paul with the pure passion and ferocity that they despise Rick Santorum. The liberal media loathes social conservatives. They love Republicans who bash other conservatives. This is how John McCain in 2008 and Jon Huntsman in 2012 became the darlings of the liberal media. The media will end up despising whomever the GOP nominee is, and Ron Paul has suffered much less abuse than Newt Gingrich. Every day there are calls for Gingrich, and now even Santorum, to drop out. Dr. Paul does not face those calls.

As for election fraud, the GOP should just agree to give the Virgin Islands and Maine to Ron Paul in exchange for a vow of silence from the movement. The Paul movement uses complaints as their oxygen. All the voter fraud in the world cannot explain Florida, Illinois, and many other big states where Dr. Paul was rejected by more than 90% of the voters.

For those Paul supporters who are still unable to understand these repeated, huge rejections at the polls, the answer can be found right in front of their faces. The Ron Paul movement consists of too many supporters who are completely certifiable. They run up and down the hallways of GOP conventions screaming about revolutions. Decorum is replaced with degradation and debasement.

They shout down speakers they disagree with. They have zero interest in freedom and liberty for anybody except those who agree with them. Decent human beings would just accept this under the rule of "live and let live." The verbal carpet-bombers in the Ron Paul movement consist of some intolerant zealots who will harass, bully, and intimidate anybody just for thinking differently. The same hypocrites who are against undeclared wars engage in undeclared wars against their fellow Americans just for not worshipping Ron Paul. It makes the David Koresh movement look moderate.

Tell a Ron Paul supporter you disagree with his candidate. The responses will be:
1) You just do not understand. You're an idiot.
2) You are an uninformed tool of the political machine.
3) You don't care about the Constitution, freedom or liberty.
4) You are corrupt, bought and paid for, a shill for the status quo or some other powerful, mythical, nefarious entity.

These lines of thought are pure bile. The idea that a person can be decent, well educated, intelligent, have a sophisticated gift of analysis, be a clear thinker, and reject Ron Paul is totally incomprehensible to his supporters.

Society's Contempt For Men And Boys

messenger says...

I noticed the media bias against men about fifteen years ago. It was a time when it was just starting to be inappropriate for any female character to be stupid, and that just left men, so just about every stupid character since then has been a male by default. It's especially clear in commercials where there has to be a smart character and a stupid one, it's always the man who's stupid. I don't think it's anti-male, just what we're left with when audiences respond poorly to negative depictions of female.
