Bird hits window (twice)

newtboy says...

Good idea, but my parents would never have allowed that.

The house was a glass showcase, and my mom a perfectionist (which sucked to live under as a child). They paid a maintenance man to wash those windows regularly, a monumental task because some rooms like the living room had 20 ft ceilings with floor to ceiling glass walls! (Better, from the outside that room’s floor was 10+ ft off the ground, so he needed a 30 ft ladder!)
Just to attract more birds I guess, it also had a plant filled atrium in the center of the house with multiple full sized pine trees growing through the roof, so birds were tricked further into thinking nothing was there. My parents apparently didn’t consider the effects on wildlife when they built it, only their 360 degree views of it.

We moved out in around 82, and today it’s largely been rebuilt with a lot of the exterior glass removed.

Mom catches book falling on child using reflection from TV

TheFreak says...

When trying to determine if a video like this is real, I always ask myself, "why is the camera there and recording at that moment?"

A camera constantly recording your living room while your family is there? The only answer that's not creepy as fuck is, fake video.

Indoor Tornado

psycop says...

The creator put some answers in the comments:

How the heck did i make it?

The living room of my father's place had a very strong ceiling fan, which could go in reverse. Instead of blowing air down, it would pull the air up. That would create an updraft strong enough to sustain the vortex. Next, I had a box fan and a blanket set up to redirect the air flow so it rotated around the center of the room. You can see it as the dark blue object in the back right. After the fans were turned on, I laid out an old dark red bed sheet with a small PVC pipe underneath it connected to a fog machine. The bed sheet allowed the fog to gently seep through and get pulled into the vortex, as opposed to being blasted out of the pipe. And then it was all a matter of letting the ceiling fan's updraft and the box fan's rotation mix into a 10 ft tall indoor tornado!!

Bed Bugs Scuttle Out of Headphone Jack

DUDE!

DUDE!

uhhhhh ... DUDE!

Oh man, this reminds me the people I use to sell quantities to. You'd go to these people's houses and half the time they were crank fiends and despite having all that extra go juice, their houses would look like the Paleozoic traveled through time and took a shit in their living room. They always had Pit Bulls, too.

I was so glad when I moved on to dealing coke and didn't have to deal with the kinda people who bought drugs anymore.

Liberal Democrat wants To have Confirmation Brett Kavanaugh

newtboy says...

Yes, an ambush flood of tens of thousands of useless documents on the eve of the confirmation with no time to read them and still no release of tens or hundreds of thousands of consequential documents from his time at the Whitehouse.
What are they hiding?
More garbage isn't better. If you pay me to care for your lawn and I come diarrhea all over your living room, then say I gave you more fertilizer than my last 5 customers combined, will you be happy?

In Saturn's Rings 8K (Narrated by LeVar Burton) 2018 Trailer

kir_mokum says...

even as a file, it would probably chug here and there, depending on the compression and how beefy your machine is. 8K is fucking HUGE and SO unnecessary unless you have an imax theatre in your living room.

You could always download it. Now, the question can you play it smoothly? None of my old computers can, but then I don't even have 4K yet. I just got 1080 HD in late 2014.

Won't You Be My Neighbor - Official Trailer

Esoog says...

I grew up watching Mr. Rogers. I love in the beginning of this trailer how he says he didnt feel like he needed to put on a funny hat. He wasn't a character. He was real, and that is what I liked about it. Don't get me wrong. When trolley, would take you to the imaginary castle, that was pretty awesome too.

It's not that Mr. Roger's Neighborhood are some of my fondest childhood memories, but thinking of the show, relates to so many other childhood memories...the look of the living room where I used to watch...my family being around...watching with friends...

Great....another afternoon of crying at my desk at work.

The Pinball Doctors: The Last Arcade Technicians in NYC

newtboy says...

I sold my black knight a few years back.
The guy who bought it played it non stop for weeks, then it died.
The only repair shop in our area no longer services pinballs at all, so just to have it inspected he's going to have to go all the way to Portland or the Bay Area, 3-400 miles. It's been sitting dead in his living room ever since. It sucks. I hope there's a resurgence and they start working on them up here again.

Aliens Movie - "Get Away from her, you bitch!"

David Mitchell makes a Feng Shui expert squirm

Jinx says...

To be fair, it wasn't just David. Almost everybody got a shot in and those that didn't looked somewhat bewildered by it all.

Oh well, I've not heard of any feng shui experts claiming that rearranging your living room can cure cancer, so I'm going to put in the "mostly harmless bullshit" column. Also there is something to be said for really good interior design, so maybe that's how he started off before he realised he could charge a different type of client more for the same thing if he said some shit about energy flows.

Listening to Rage Against The Machine for the first time

JustSaying says...

Why don't you just concentrate on driving your fucking car instead of being that distracted in traffic?
That kind of video can be recorded in a living room, ya know?

enoch says...

@newtboy
true romance is in my top 10 as well, and i didn't even see in the theaters.the trailers didn't grab me and the marketing was utter shit.

i saw it when i lived in miami at the time, and my roommate and i were having a party and i just happened to have HBO on at the time, and i remember seeing the opening credits:chrisitan slater, val kilmer, christopher walken, dennis hopper

No Playing In the House

eric3579 says...

"He loves to wrestle the dog(100lb Golden retriever) so when I heard thrashing around in the living room, it didn't raise red flags. He told me it was an accident, it wasn't until I saw this video on his ipad that I knew what really happened. An "oh shit mom's gonna kill me" face if I ever saw one." -yt
