"Epic Win": A role playing game to do list
This is actually a fantastic idea.
My roommate once suggested that it would be neat to run a company with a reward system in place that resulted in each employee getting to level up. At first you start off with just a desk and a computer. As you are recognized for doing good things in your job you will be reward by receiving upgrades your workstation.

"Great Presentation. You have unlocked... the stapler! No more walking to the mailroom for you!"

Short answer: I like it.
It's much like Diablo 2, but simplified in a number of game design ways. You level up much faster than in D2, and to have it feel good you should really use the auction house to get new items - some times something drops that is better than what you can find for reasonable amounts of gold, and that still feels brilliant.
The launch was shit, but it's much more stable now, so I feel alright about it. I've gotten used to always online from starcraft and MMOs, so I don't think that's an issue.
I only just hit level 60 and started inferno, but I really enjoy running around to get the nephalem valor buff (every time you kill a champion, rare or boss you get a half hour buff with +25 % magic find that stacks up to 5 times). Chasing that and getting drops is fun.

At this moment it always felt like Frank Dux had achieved a level up, SIERRA adventure game style.

Top Badge Achievers (Sift Talk Post)
Not sure if they were ever published, but maybe include the thresholds for levelling up? Some (like Duper) I seem to earn every 3-4, whereas I have yet to receive timekeeper or assister despite lots of contributions to those categories.
Cuz knowing is half the battle.

I do it once in a while to see if someone's gone a "level up", but otherwise nah.

Thanks for the advice and suggestions..I've thought about this..and it would be nice to start my own channel. I just haven't really felt too much compulsion to join the video rat race..but perhaps I will take your advice and get my bronze star. I don't think I'll be able to compete with anyone here though for the latest and greatest..i'll probably have to content myself with cat videos.

Regarding the selection of which videos to attempt to sift: I too find that the videos I'm most passionate about (which are usually scenes from my favorite movies) do just as abysmally, upvote-wise, as the ones you seem to feel passionate about. We all have our own passions and one man's treasure and all that...
In order to get your star level up (and more importantly, earn the right to downvote) you may need to do what the rest of us did in our early Videosift days: do the monkey dance. By that, I mean you may need to sift videos you might not otherwise have thought to sift. Cat/dog/animal videos are generally pretty popular and they're virtually a guaranteed sift. Any kind of comedic presentation by Cracked or College Humor and the like are also popular. The Daily Show/Colbert Report are quite siftable too.
More subtly, unusual / comedic titles can be used to pique curiosity or emphasize the comedy. Here's a great example: http://videosift.com/video/Ernie-and-Bert-go-BALLISTIC
In short: play the percentages. Once you get your bronze star, it's all downhill from there.
