Can a video game be a spiritual experience? maybe...maybe...

SFOGuy says...

I don't know if keeping a voicemail is a play, to me...although I think you were speaking artistically. Lost important people last year---all their voicemails live on in my phone.
Even if I don't play them, it's reassuring. Just not ready to let go finally yet.

Seems like a play on the people who keep voicemail and outgoing messages after people pass. Still cool.

Woman Accuses White Male of Stealing Her Cultural Hairstyle

transmorpher says...

That's where arts like japanese jiu jitsu, aikido, hapkido and so on come in very handy.

When someone grabs you (AKA offers their hand to you lol), you just bend their hand in a way it's not supposed to bend and they'll be letting go very quickly

The best thing there is that you can apply the right amount of force that is necessary, and gradually increasing if required. If it's someone like this you would apply just enough to begin causing pain and allow them make up their mind. If they don't stop then you keep applying force until either they let go or they end up on the floor with a broken wrist/elbow/shoulder.

The other cool thing about that is, it works on people twice as big as you, because your body weight > the amount of strength anyone's joint has.

What does that mean. Why, exactly, can't he physically defend himself?

Of course you can hit a woman in the face....they have faces, don't they?

upfront-noam chomsky on bernie sanders vs hillary clinton

I'm legitimately going to miss this guy. And his role is not one easily replaceable; I cannot think of any other person who is so selfless yet inspired to continue to research the cold hard facts and saying it how it is. The status quo will be happy that he goes, but for millions - this guy remained a real inspiration. Someone who found the calling of anarchism at a very young age and never let go. He is someone who knows the historic truths as well as understanding the fabric of the mind to a somewhat tangible degree above others and without much personal infliction. The guy looks at facts and could care less about your opinion, or his own "opinion" or emotions on topics. He is an incredibly rare and crucial resource.

The Last Audio Cassette Factory

Sagemind says...

I still have a cache of cassette tapes I'm not willing to let go of - including all of the released Skinny Puppy cassettes, Rossini's Barber of Saville, Caramon (Bizet), and a whack of classical (Bethovan, Stravinsky, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Phillip Glass) , the Brown Album from Bootsauce and some Pop Will Eat Itself (PWEI)

Unfortunately, without thinking, I sold both my cassette players at my last garage sale, now I have nothing to play them on....

The Oregon Fail

This video has a lot of votes but no commentary. These guys are probably assholes, but already it is known that a more than likely government agent posed as Bundy on Twitter as a racist fucktwat. Maybe Bundy is a racist asshole but what I see is government induced propaganda introduced in order to help people to let go of the topic of taking the government head on, or maybe I've just watched too much of Making a Murderer. It's the exact same shit. Fuck the FBI. Fuck the police. Fuck the courts. Fuck the brainless citizens/jurors that eat the propaganda like a quarter pounder with cheese and a late day sausage mcmuffin. cuntz. Colbert is a sellout.

tofucken-the vegan response to turducken

enoch says...

i always love the vegan argument, especially when they attempt to trot out the morality tropes.

because when they pull that shit...i GOT em.

i just point to their shirt,or pants,shoes..or even their iphone and remind them the high percentage chance that the human who made those garments/phone was an 8 yr old.forced to work 14 hr shifts with no breaks,7 days a week..all so he could buy a bowl of rice, live in a 500 sq ft space with 25 other people and crap in a hole.(or on the beach..hmmm..lets go swimming).

so lets cut the crap with the moral absolutes.
thats just myopic, single minded pandering to give us the "feel goods"...because in reality we are all assholes in one aspect or another, sometimes knowingly, othertimes not,but still assholes.

which then brings the argument to the distinctive qualities and grade of asshole and thats just fucking boring.

my boy here has it right:

Sloppy Seconds - Watsky

eric3579 says...

Fuck you if you love a car for its paint job
Love you if you love a car for the road trips
Show me the miles and your arms and the pink scar
Where the doctor had to pull out all the bone chips
Cuz you were pressing on the gas just a bit hard
Right in the moment where the road curved a bit sharp
And when you woke up, somebody was unclipping your seat belt
and pulling you from the open window of your flipped car

Cold pizza
Tie-dye shirts
Broken hearts
Give'm here, give'm here
Hand me downs
Give me give me leftovers
Give me give me sloppy seconds
Give em here, give em here

I don't care where you've been
How many miles, I still love you [x2]

Show me someone who says they got no baggage
I'll show you somebody whose got no story
Nothing gory means no glory, but baby please don't bore me
We won't know until we get there
The who, or the what, or the when where
My favorite sweater was a present that I got a couple presidents ago
And I promised that I would rock it till it's thread bare
Bet on it
Every single person got a couple skeletons
So pretty soon, in this room
It'll just be me and you when we clear out all the elephants
Me and you and the elements

We all have our pitfalls
Beer's flat, the cabs have been called
And everybody and their momma can hear the drama
that's happening behind these thin walls

Cold pizza
Tie-dye shirts (tie-dye shirts)
Broken hearts
Give'm here, give'm here
Hand me downs (hand me downs)
Leftovers (leftovers)
Sloppy seconds
Give'm here, give'm here

I don't care where you've been
How many miles, I still love you (2x)

I don't care (cold pizza)
Where you've been (tie-dye shirts)
How many (broken hearts) miles, I still love you
I don't care (hand me downs)
Where you've been (left overs)
How many (sloppy seconds) miles, I still love you

My pattern with women isn't a flattering image
But I don't want to run away because I said so
I don't want to be the guy to hide all of my flaws
And I'll be giving you the side of me that I don't let show
Everything in fashion
That has ever happened
Always coming crashing down
Better let go
But in a couple years it will be retro
You rock Marc Ecko
My shirts have the gecko
Cuz in the past man, I was hopeless
But now's when my little cousins look the dopest
(whoop whoop)
Fuck the fashion po-po
Have a stale doughnut, I don't need no tips
Fuck a five second rule
That's a plan I never understood
It's September in my kitchen in a Christmas sweater
Sipping cold coffee on the phone with damaged goods

And there is not a single place that I would rather be
I'm fucked up just like you are, and you're fucked up just like me

Cold pizza (cold pizza)
Tie-dye shirts (tie-dye shirts)
Broken hearts
Give'm here, Give'm here
Hand me downs (oh hand me downs)
Give me give me leftovers (leftovers)
Give me give me sloppy seconds
Give'm here give'm here

I don't care where you've been
How many miles, I still love you [x2]

I don't care (cold pizza)
Where you've been (tie-dye shirts)
How many (broken hearts) miles, I still love you
I don't care (hand me downs)
Where you've been (left overs)
How many (sloppy seconds) miles, I still love you

Paris - Doctor Who Anti War speech

enoch says...

@coolhund
dude..chill.
while i totally respect and admire your passion,@dingens is correct in pointing out your ad-hom swipe.you made overly broad assumptions about him with zero evidence to back those assumptions up,at least on this thread there is no evidence.

i think you owe him an apology.

you appear,to me anyways,to be taking any opinions or criticisms as a personal attack upon you and your stance.

i do not really see people disagreeing with you,but rather pointing out the complex dynamics.this does not equate to disagreement, just a desire to refine the parameters of the discussion.

i totally get what you are trying to say and i agree with you,but in your (understandable) frustration you are lashing out at people who do not deserve your ire.

you are correct to point out that the elephant in the room is never questioned, never mind discussed.i.e:america creates the situation, then plays the victim.

which is your basic hegelian dialectic:problem-reaction-solution.

the real discussion is POWER vs POWERLESSNESS,and the abuses of power to the detriment of society, locally and globally.

at least thats how i was reading your commentary.i could have it all wrong but i do admire your passion.

if i could offer some unsolicited advice my friend:do not become so invested in your passions that you forget the plot.the people who have commented here are not your enemies.

they are just commenting, and maybe if you feel they are not understanding what you are laying down..clarify your position by engaging with these people to collectively formulate a better understanding.no need or reason to lash out at them, because maybe they just misunderstood what you were trying to say.

oh god...just realized i am that uncle on the holidays that tries to keep the peace by getting everyone drunk.

ok everybody!
beers on me!
lets go get drunk!

Conor McGregor vs The Mountain

dannym3141 says...

That's why they have weight classes in fighting sports. You can't rule anything out, but quite clearly early on the big guy had hold of him and let go, he was playing.

Knowing Connor, he'd have asked if the guy wanted to spar a little, just for fun; and consider what Connor - an tough, egotistical (yet lovable), pro fighter - finds fun He definitely wanted to carry that on longer than was comfortable for the big fella after he got grabbed early on... let him know who would win a real fight. Cheeky bugger, but definitely the archetypal lovable rogue.

Conor McGregor vs The Mountain

robbersdog49 says...

Can't work out if they're supposed to be fighting each other, dancing, tickling each other? Weird.

There's no intent from either of them. When Björnsson get hold of hi at 15 seconds in he just does nothing and then lets go.

EEVBlog - Hobbyist Arrested For Bringing Homemade Clock

csnel3 says...

Sorry for the confusion Nicolebee, I tried to respond to a comment by newtboy that was a response to you, so I lumped you guys together for my comment.
I didn't send you sources for my "claims" because I thought that in the 24 hours since I made my "claims" , that this story has been pretty much been proved as a hoax. I think you can just read the news and see that this is a false story driven by other motives. Its obvious that in the next few days everyone is going to distance themselves from this story. You should probably get ready to let go yourself. This was a well executed trolling.

NicoleBee said:

I don't understand. I asked you for some information related to your claims. Do you have any or not? It's entirely possible this was what happened.

Buy These Tickets Or I Take Your Car

eric3579 says...

My understanding is in California your car can be towed and impounded by an officer if your vehicle is six months out of registration.

Ive been pulled over with expired tags multiple times. They have used it as an excuse to check me out. I've been let go the couple times its happened to me. One time just had a good conversation about disk golf after he saw my disks in the car. Another time he wanted to search my car, which i refused. Then i was given a drunk test and grilled about why he couldn't search my car. He ended up just letting me go.

AeroMechanical said:

I highly doubt your car can be impounded for driving with an expired registration , even in PA. That is very nearly the least significant traffic violation there is. Of course, the police lie about that sort of thing all the time, which is probably the case here.

Our Greatest Delusion As Humans - Veritasium

ChaosEngine says...

*quality

The single hardest aspect of accepting the reality of the world wasn't a lack of god, it was the realisation of my own impermanence.

When I was younger and things went bad, I would sometimes resign myself to the outcome and think that things would go better "in another life", be that an afterlife, reincarnation, whatever.

Letting go of that was hard, but it forced me to confront the issues in my life and realise that if things were bad, I needed to change them, and if I didn't I would waste the short time I have.
