Nice Morning
Nah, it was my bad. In these unfortunate times of "fake news" being a knee jerk reaction to everything and dog whistles galore, you have to be clear, especially when making jokes.
I never thought about it before, but it looks like the alt-right is also ruining comedy. Fuck them.
Re the downvote: Meh. Internet currency means less than zero to me. No worries.
Update: I added an extreme sarcasm tag, for clarity.
Not really either. I assumed that, like many, you used it to avoid having to answer for your comment, but you meant it.
I'm certain that was exactly what many right wingers thought when watching this.
If you really didn't mean it, you should know the sarcasm button doesn't always indicate you don't mean it, just that you thought you're being funny.
When you used the right wing "cuck", I thought you likely meant it but wanted an "out" if you got called out about it, that's how many hard core right wingers use it.
If that's wrong, I'm sorry, but you might want to be more clear when you're making similar comments or you run the risk of being misunderstood. In my defense, I've been pretty sick all weekend and I'm not thinking clearly. Sorry for the downvote if it wasn't warranted.
Buffalo Police Push 75 Year Old To The Concrete
WTF?!?
The entire crowd control unit quit...but are all still employed as police?!?
So cops can now just refuse their assignments with no consequences?
Every single one who quit this assignment needs to be fired, and their past arrests need to be thoroughly investigated, since they ALL quit solely because their blatant lies weren't believed. This leads to the logical conclusion that they all routinely lie in their incident reports, hiding their violent assaults, claiming their victims "tripped and fell" while never speaking up against the officers who pushed them forcefully causing the trip and fall. Without this video the victim would be charged with obstruction if not assault on a police officer.
If the only evidence is a cop's word, there's less than zero evidence. They lie far more often than not.
Not a single 1/2 decent cop in the gang, they all tried to hide this, every single one of them. Toss them all for dereliction of duty and failure to report criminal violence. These are EXACTLY the kind of cops that need to go. Unfortunately, that's going to leave some departments completely empty.
The two police officers were arrested.

Why Celebrity Apprentice Sucks Away Your Willpower
OK, this clip was quite interesting once I actually got around to watching it. I skipped it several times because although I like Penn Jillette, I hate reality TV and have less than zero interest in "Celebrity Apprentice" or whatever else.
So, I was tempted to just reply with a snarky "it certainly does suck" (referring to Celebrity Apprentice / Reality TV in general) without even watching the clip. Glad I didn't do that, so here's a sheepish upvote to compensate for my near faux pas.
Katherine Heigl Hates Balls!
>> ^spoco2:
The video... is ok.
I just have a huge problem with Katherine Heigl and her hypocritical bullshit comments about the tv shows and films she works on that make her millions of dollars.
There's such a thing as professionalism, and she doesn't have it.
So... yeah, I will not endorse this video.
(Yes, I am well aware that me not upvoting this video here has a net impact of less than zero percent on... well, anything.)
Oh wow! I was so ready to pick holes in those articles... but no, she's a bellend! Damnit, i've always really liked her since Knocked Up, grrr

Is God Good?
I meant star point. You receive a star point for each vid that gets 10 upvotes. Check your member profile to see how many you have. You have at least one b/c this vid sifted. Capice? 25 star points (I think) gets you a bronze star.
I can't speak for anyone else but I am blissfully free of suspicion about god which is why quoting the bible has less than zero effect. It's like quoting a Star Wars novel if you want to convince people that Greedo really did shoot first. It's all fiction. Just like the Quran. And the torah. And the Bhagavat Gita. They can't all be right but they can all be wrong.
And for supposedly being divinely-inspired, the bible is a wildly unimpressive book. However, I'm sure putting all those biblical passages down in your reply made a bunch of clicky noises on your keyboard. So there you go.
Trump, "Obama May Be Greatest Scam In American History"
>> ^quantumushroom:
Who is crazier:
Those who suspect a man refusing to release a document that would easily end all speculation MIGHT have something to hide,
or
those who still believe a nation can tax and spend itself into stability and prosperity, with the top producers paying the heaviest federal taxes and the "bottom" 50% paying nothing, but slurping up plenty of entitlements.
Oh yeah. America's economy is in the toilet because half of it is composed of worthless, parasitic bottom feeders 'slurping up entitlements'.
It couldn't be because the biggest corporations are paying less than zero income tax while they outsource jobs overseas, or that Wall Street scammed millions of people out of their retirement funds and homes, or that the Republican party has been puppets of the oil and military industrial complex for decades and has squandered billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of lives to 'make the world a more democratic (read pro-American business) place'.
No, it's definitely the fault of the poor.
The Broken Window Fallacy
>> ^blankfist:
Is it a straw man argument? I don't know. It's a simplistic example, but I believe we experience this quite commonly in our economy. I don't know if it has anything to do with Keynesian economics or not, but it has everything to do with central planning and taxing.
Stick with just "I don't know" next time, you'll look smarter!
Apparently your new favorite phrase is "central planning". I'll grant you, it makes you look less like a crazy teabagger to say that and not "socialist facist Nazist gulag" or whatever word salad you guys think sounds scary, but it's just about as dishonest and inaccurate.
Again, if you're motivated by curiosity, I'd be happy to explain. I don't believe you are, though.
>> ^blankfist:
The government doesn't actually create jobs by working from savings like a normal company or individual; they spend from taxation, and more often than not they have to raise taxes to create those "jobs" - or increase deficit spending if you're the federal government. This collectively makes everyone poorer.
Governments that engage in raising taxes to spend money don't always make everyone "collectively poorer" -- certainly not in the manner of a broken window. When you break someone's window, you're clearly engaging in a unquestionably destructive activity.
If you operate from the fundamental assumption that anything you have to buy for reasons outside of your control has zero (or less than zero) value, sure, it's like a broken window.
But if you operate from that axiom, you're not talking about economics, but political ideology.
Sponsored Posts (Sift Talk Post)
^Okay, I understand that you're trying to make a little green. Still, it will look weird if we see posts, any posts, with more than -3 votes sitting on the front page. Hell, ANY post with less than zero total votes will look weird. And kinda bad, IMHO. We call this place *quality control. UNLESS there's money involved.
I dunno. This could be good; this could be bad; this could be nothing. I'm always hoping for the best because I love this place, so don't put me in the anti-change camp. Still, the proof is in the pudding. A limey expression. I miss alien_concept.
