747 Crosswind Landing at Hong Kong's "Kai Tak" Airport

oritteropo says...

Landing at Kai Tak airport was pretty cool.. it seemed that quite a bit of the final approach was below the level of the nearby apartments It was only ever the most experienced pilots who were allowed to land there, since there wasn't a lot of margin for error.

I think it's a go-kart track now, but I haven't been back since it was decommissioned as an airport.

Super Mario - The Real World Levels

sirlivealot says...

In the Mario Kart segment you had Mario racing Bowser so having the last boss music from Super Mario World is not a far leap. Using so much from the Super Nintendo age of Mario and not including Yoshi is a travesty..Travesty!

No? For instance, I liked when they used the last boss music from Super Mario World in the Mario Kart segment, and I think it was an appropriate choice. To me it shows that the people who made this video are connoisseurs of all things Mario, and thus they are entitled to take artistic license.

Anyone else get annoyed about the miss matching music in the video? Who uses Yoshi theme music when Mario is not on Yoshi?

Kids Electrocute Dad

autoshop class

making go karts using old lawnmowers

checking sparkplug to see if its firing, my buddy is holding it in his hand, my other buddy yanks the chord to start lawnmower

he makes a "ungh" sound as his arms... both, the one holding the spark plug and the one not, go straight up in the air like a ref signalling a touchdown

i still laugh about it

then there was the time I electrocuted my physics teacher in grade 12 lol

air puck with string of beads down hose so based on frequency you could create data points on a piece of paper as the puck travelled in an arc (table was slightly elevated so there was a slope)... you engage the electricity by stepping on a pedal

he called me over to look at something, stepped fully on the pedal while he was holding the puck in his hand lol

i was oblivious, my buddy figured it out because he was looking at my teacher and had heard the zap, zap, zap, zap... the teacher was getting shocks but held onto the puck, trying to figure out what was going on... until finally he threw the puck... the beads in the tube came apart, funnelled out the tube and had to be rethread

by my buddy, not me lol

You Forgot To Hit Pause...

This made me really nostalgic. Not just the pixel art, but the music too.

Playing the SNES in a video game haze to a background of melancholic 90's rock, buoyant punk and grunge apathy; smoking too much; drinking cheap beer and vodka (and whatever else we could get our hands on).

Waking up on an old sofa chair bathed in dimly flashing colours and quiet, looping chip music.

Super Metroid; Prince of Persia; A Link to the Past; Secret of Mana; Mortal Kombat and Super Mario Kart.

Spider-Man and Wolverine comics, and Kerrang! on the floor.

And an otherwise, abject poverty.

Seems like another life now.

Oh come on... It's not like it was YOUR hard work that went into them. What about the ancient Incan civilization? A lot of work went into that, too, and a whole people are dead. How about the ancient Egyptians, ancient Persia, the Babylonians, Atlantis... You need to re-prioritize the things you cry about.

On that same token, nice to see people still find ways to appreciate them.

I used to walk down a railroad near me once every few weeks. Went on for absolutely miles and miles, i joined it from the village nearby and followed it for 8 miles or so then turned back, didn't reach the end. It weaved through all the busy areas around here and ended up being one of the most serene and enjoyable nature walks i've had, on a deserted railroad overgrown with plants and stuff.

They barricaded it a few months ago, no one's allowed on it anymore.
