Wild Swimming -- introducing "natural" swimming pools

I was initially impressed at how beautiful a concept this is. Then I remembered that I live in Florida, where this would get infested with turtles, alligators, snakehead fish, and poisonous snakes within several hours of finishing.

A heartbreaking dog rescue: Cora

mintbbb says...

Cora's comeback: www.facebook.com/pages/Coras-Comeback/112768512176396

Cora was a stray wandering a local Walmart parking lot. She was reported to ICARE on Tuesday (11/8) and finally apprehended on Thursday morning (11/10).
She gave many ICARE volunteers a great cardio workout for two days trying to get her (others, including Animal Control attempted to catch Cora for a few days before ICARE got involved) . Finally with the help of Eldad Hagar & Lisamarie, she was safe and on her way to the vet for a check up on Thursday morning. At this time she checked out fine aside from being filthy, flea infested and nearly emaciated.

A week later I took Cora in for a check up because one of her eyes was weepy and she was still sleeping a LOT more than I would expect her to be a week after her ordeal. Well, her eye was fine...she checked out great. Turns out all the sleeping was just a side effect of her PREGNANCY! Yep, Cora was about 1 month away from delivering puppies. She was so underweight and malnourished, the vet was doubtful she would be able to deliver naturally--but advised us to be hopeful and not plan for a definite C-section.

On December 15th, Cora delivered THREE beautiful and healthy puppies naturally and within only 3 hours. She was an absolute pro...it is likely this was her second pregnancy. She has been a phenomenal mommy and everyone is so proud of her. As a matter of fact, she is pretty darn proud of herself too, and it shows!

Cora is an approximately 1 year old Chiweenie. She will be available about 10 weeks from the date she delivered. She'll need time to rear and then wean her pups. After her pups are weaned she will be spayed and then all ready for her furever home ♥

If you live in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA and you'd like to adopt Cora or any of her pups, please email I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue for an adoption application:

(they are taking applications now)

original everquest is not hard-part 1

enoch says...

everquest was a total time sink and while there were aspects that could become tedious depending on which class you chose (looking for group,xp grinding,pp farming),i feel this was counter balanced by how grouping and forming alliances was intrinsically part of the game.
you couldnt do anything worth a crap by yourself.
that kept the douche/dick ratio super low.
i remember a 35 bard who kept training us in HHK when we were lowly lvl 20's.turns out he was training all the lower level zones.i still remember his name "bartlbee".he never made it to lvl 40 because people remembered him and refused to group with him or assist him in any way.

in everquest you NEEDED other people to progress in content,so being a dick just meant you were not going to have access to higher tier gear and zones.(remember farming keys for raids?)

i started playing EQ just after luclin came out and it took me over a year to cap at lvl 70.i played WOW for 6 months and have 3 lvl 85's (hunter, shammie and a ret pally).the only challenge WOW offers for me at high end content is PVP and that game is infested with douchebags and dickweeds.
why?
because you can solo all the way to 85 and dont really need anyone and when its time to go for the epic 85 gear just have good dps and your good.

so yeah.
i miss the sense of accomplishment when you grinded xp for 2 days to ding a level.i miss that sense of apprehension running through a zone that may have mobs that can one shot you, because there was a real sense of anxiety if you died you lost not only time to find a rez,or run back to corpse, but an asston of hard earned xp.
or being able to help a friend who once helped you as the scout for his thurgadin giant war (awesome quest btw).

in everquest you formed alliances and relationships, because you had to if you wanted to get the good gear.everquest took patience.

i still remember a pally i leveled my ranger with.i had found the giant stronghold KAEL and was excited to show him,so he followed me to this city in the side of a mountain (forgot the zone),but i had failed to remember that there was a huuuge cliff and he followed me right over the edge.we both fell to our deaths and he took a screenshot of our dead bodies cuddling (it appeared that way).
to our chagrin there was an entire raid group that saw the whole thing and from that point on,any toon that jumped off a cliff was called 'pullin a shak and ames".

what other game can give you that kind of notoriety?

good times my friends...good times.

Shooter have NOT evolved. They have devolved into a profit maximized mass product for idiots.
And ...

"Doom/quake/descent/etc appealed to a few thousand PC owners when they were released, the modern-military-competitive-online-multiplayer-first-person-shooters are purchased by millions of console owners on day one."

Lets eat shit. Billions of flies cant be wrong!

Yep, typical gamer comment "I don't like these games, therefore people who do are idiots."
The change of shooters over the years is the very definition of evolution. The games industry is still young and will continue to evolve.
You continue to blindly cling to the past and forget it wasn't all great, there were tons of shit games then as there are now. Only differences, now the industry is so much larger than it was back then, now with so many more games to choose from. Game development is also nothing like it was back then, with player expectations ridiculously high, it costs a lot more, is a lot more difficult, requires many more people and is a lot more risky.
"Maximize profits"? Try "Just trying to not go under".

Youre talking absolute bullshit. Yes, the industry is much larger now. But you simply dont get that thats the problem. In the past tehre were LOTS and LOTS new stuff. Hell, we even had, GASP!, SPACE SIMS!!!!
Sorry, but I seriously cant take you serious. You sound like a troll.

Listen, kid (I use the word kid because even though you're probably around 30, but you speak like an ignorant, simple minded, angry child) you wanna try to hide the fact you know nothing about the way the video games industry and the gaming market actually works. It's too obvious.

Alright then, kiddo. How does it work? But first let me tell you that I am talking to you like this BECAUSE you are talking like a kid with no clue at all and just wanting to spew out something. You want to talk seriously, prove first that youre not as extremely ignorant as your posts make you look like.

Indies show its still possible to make good games. Too bad those indies get bought by these big publishers if they do something good. Look at the devs that made Call of Juarez for example, what they turned into. The first part was a real good PC game, the second one was even on the PC version infested with autoaiming and the third part is just lol.

Go ahead and tell me how the gaming market works. Or any market for that matter. Are you one of those hardliner capitalists who dont even understand the system, but want it to stay the way it is, kiddo?
Go troll somewhere else, like on your console forums. Geez...

I hate this. This whole mess of an infrastructure we have is infested with corruption.

Do you know WHY the police are doing this? Because they've got a boss, and their boss came to them and said "GET THIS SORTED OUT WHATEVER IT TAKES OR YOU'RE HISTORY!"

The police on the ground get good at finding sneaky ways of getting things sorted, and they do it because they were told to by their boss or be fired or whatever. That guy was told the same by their boss because he's in charge of the area and he needs better crime statistics. Where does it end? What is the source of this self torture of our own devising? Is it a politician who hears us complain about crime so tries to get better crime statistics to quote to the cameras next time?

Have we put ourselves in this situation? So many things work like this. Have we put ourselves in trouble by taking a million bad decisions, or accepting a million injustices, one at a time, each one insignificant, but eventually adding up to something very bad?

Pope Calls For New Global Central Bank

NetRunner says...

>> ^Boise_Lib:

Well, this just confuses me.

It mostly made me chuckle. The Catholic church goes ultra-Keynesian in defense of social justice. Somewhere, there's a fleet of Ron Paul supporters whose heads just exploded.

As for the merits of the idea itself, I don't think we're at the point where a global monetary union would be useful. While the IMF doesn't have the same sort of dedication to social justice one would imagine a Papal Global Bank would have, it's not actually doing too bad a job given its limited resources and authority, and given the kind of ideological mindsets that tend to infest monetary institutions.

I'm also somewhat fascinated at the idea of the Catholic church putting out a statement about a need for expansionary monetary policy to ease poverty in the world. I wouldn't have expected such a scientific idea to come from them.

Hundreds of Bed Bugs in a Cup

calvados says...

>> ^Porksandwich:

They had a television show where the bed bugs were migrating through the wall around the electrical socket into a whole other apartment eating the other person up (who was allergic). They called out an exterminator for them, exterminator couldn't find them in the mattress of the person who called but found traces of them on the pillow cases and stuff heading to the wall. So they asked the adjoining apartment if they could examine their apartment and found their mattress to be heavily infested.
Have no idea if that was possible, true, or even a real show (could have been a fake reality show)...but it gave me the creeps thinking that I could be munched on and never find a real trace of them because they were coming from another bed.

Och aye, apparently they'll very often nest deep in the walls 15 or 20 feet from their meal (you), and just make the commute every night, no problem.
