City of Akron responding to the shooting of Jayland Wlaker

newtboy says...

It’s insane you think this video provides justification for 90 shots, 30 of which missed from point blank range, without ever seeing any weapon at all.
(Edit: I must say, the flash from the window looks like a flashlight, not a gun. Guns don’t shine a beam of light onto the street. Let’s see the video, not a single frame that’s inconclusive.)
Also interesting how when it’s police vs unarmed black man you believe police without question, when it’s police vs armed white supremacist Trumpists the police are deep state liars making up crimes every time.
Remember, police went to the Supreme Court to have the right to lie to you, even in press conferences, and they do. Ask Uvalde.

New Rule: Words Matter | Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO)

cloudballoon says...

That's a gem in this segment of the show.

Of all the things I don't agree with Maher (recently of the Mask Mandate, sooooooooo misinformed and/or self-centered, he's part of the prolonged problem), I must say, his fixation on not cancelling anyone and while urging people not being snowflakes are right stands for me. As much as a "political opposite" some people are to me, I'm actually far more interested in the reasons behind why they take those stands, whether they care to explain themselves or not (because, come on, we KNOW American culture breeds goats and they can only parrot what their political/religious/news/social media overlords tell them without understanding the ulterior motives behind their words & actions). I've long given up expecting one half of the population to be able to articulate thoughts.

His shows are still able (willing?) to invite "both sides" to the table. For that, his shows are worth watching.

Let's talk about making the debate more fair for Trump

dedstick says...

Hmmm, must say I had not considered this as a strategy going forward. Trust the Newt to insightfully predict the "pubs" next move. We shall see.

Sadly, or maybe not sadly, that's going to be the last debate since Trump claims to have Covid now. I bet Pence tests positive before his debate too.

Trump Walks Away After Being Challenged on Virus Testing

JiggaJonson says...

I must say, it's really baffling to me that he's seen as some alpha-male type. He recoils and slinks away at the slightest criticism or he flips out and starts going through his best of racism, name calling, or makin shit up like a rolodex of stupid excuses for why he can't or wont answer a simple question.

I've said before that he's a stupid person's idea of a smart person, a poor person's idea of a rich person, and add to that a cuckold's idea of an alpha male. He's not stoic and steadfast. He's arrogant and boorish.

Biker shocked as speeding Motorcyclists come right at him

eric3579 says...

Below is google translated of the videos description...

I am very happy to be able to write to you and to be still alive at the moment after having avoided a few crazy bikers by a few centimeters! What do you think ? How would you have reacted? I specify that the biker on the ground is fine, he is doing with his broken arm - He caught the back of the black car that we can see just before. It is not the biker on my right on the ground but the biker we can see right after who is correctly in his lane. Must say that my friend was right behind me at the time! We were very lucky! A frontal at this speed ... Nobody lives ...! V Piston

Porch Pirate vs. Glitter Bomb Trap 2.0

JiggaJonson says...

I must say, I think impersonating someone online to do them harm is a crime. I know he said "Hypothetically" about the things he was doing, but the man could prove harm via the mail he gets from his neighbors. He could show call logs and mailers from Scientology. It's not much different than how congress got involved with robocalls, people recognize these things as lowering quality of life because of the stress of having to deal with that type of nonsense.

Not to say the man who stole the package is blameless. He should be prosecuted for stealing a device that probably cost over $1,000. But what the glitter-bomb-maker did in retribution is - as he says, petty. I'd go on to say immature and irresponsible.

FOX's take on border separations

BSR says...

Bob, do you have any friends here?

I usually don't agree with what I assume are your beliefs but, I must say, I admire you sticking to your guns, so to speak.

I don't think you're a troll but rather, someone that is not afraid to stir the pot when the numbers seem to be stacked against you.

If nothing else you seem to be true to yourself.

Ex-Abu Ghraib Prisoner Speaks Out On Abuse

bcglorf says...

I must say I believe, and hope I'm right, that the crowd that sees this and says that looks great is a lot smaller than you believe.

Controversy might be more numerous around the anti-war crowd citing Abu-Ghraib as proof the Iraq war in it's entirety was wrong and evil. There are a lot of people who observe that Saddam did much worse, for much longer, and as standard desirable practice of governance, myself included. I dare say the number of people believing that greatly outnumber the pro-torture crowd.

Still important for America to hold itself more accountable on this. Am I not wrong but most of those involved who even were charged mostly got off with dishonorable discharges?

RFlagg said:

Controversial because Trump and all his supporters, all Fox News viewers, and many if not most GOP members, love this treatment of Muslims. They see nothing wrong with it and think it should come back. They think it is an effective method of stopping terrorism, this is what they are told on Fox all the time. So some think it is great, we need to bring it back and apparently what Jesus would do, while most of us think it is a horrific as it is.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Has A Blunt Message For Nazis

JustSaying says...

First of all, you realize that you posted nearly the same reply twice in a row? Are you copy&pasting replies now?
Second, sincerely, fuck you Bob. You don't get to put words in my mouth. You're a white american and you have to own your shitty, racist past.
It's not about reperations or blame, it's about your unwillingness to own your countries' racist, slave-owning, segregationist past.
The ancestors of white americans invaded, stole, raped, murdered, kidnapped and enslaved brown people to get where they are today. Your ancestors did.
If you refuse to own this, you make yourself an accomplice. You help the perpetrators to get away with it.
I own my countries past. I'll tell you all I know. It may be too little, it may be not good enough but at least I'll try. Go visit Buchenwald. I did it twice and I must say, the first time I was too stupid to understand what it meant. I'm ashamed of that.
I stood in the doorstep of a tiny little room where people would enter, believing they were there to have their height measured. They didn't know there was tiny opening in the wall where they stood. They didn't know that on the other side of the wall there's a man with a pistol waiting to shoot them in the neck. They burned the bodies in a large oven.
I want you to know this. I want everybody to know this.
I'm not at fault. I wasn't around. I'll be an accomplice if I wouldn't tell you about it. I know about a crime and I will tell you all I know about it. That's why I'm not guilty.

You, on the other hand, stand in a puddle of blood (haha, you're a clown called Puddles) and deny anything's wrong.
Maybe you didn't own slaves. Maybe you never lynched a black man. Maybe you're not a cop who shot a black person for no reason. Maybe it's not your fault.
But you help them to get away with this by telling me there's no crime.

That's the difference between us two, you don't mind the blood on your hands while typing your manifestos on the internet. I do. I'll tell you all about it.
