John Cleese On Trump's Base

newtboy says...

Trump IS doing a great job....for other Trumps and our enemies, but not America.

Instead of (proudly)fake/(repeatedly convicted and admitted) fraud/fuming/cheating/thieving/lying/ racist/misogynist/ repeatedly bankrupting/whining/textbook narcissist/ idiot/ignorant/incestuous/infantile/ indignant/ school yard bully/sociopathic/ sexual assaulting/ philandering/ pedophilic/ slandering/ bribing/ porn star paying/ trust fund baby Trump?....in a heartbeat, and I thoroughly hate her.

Ha!
I thought it was more like making Trump the Time magazine person of the year, about quantity, not quality. Love or hate her, you must admit her brand is huge.

Hillary Clinton Roasts Donald Trump At The Al Smith Charity

shagen454 says...

I can't stand to say it and you will probably never hear me use this word to describe a situation - but Trump even up to the last debate (meaning there was time to get it together) sounds straight-up unprofessional.

Hillary (God I hate her too), made a good jest saying that he is never prepared. I mean, how does he manage his other companies when he sounds like a stoned 7th grader? I'm guessing the answer is, he simply has other people do it for him. He's the face of money and the mind of nothing. A perfect recipe for a Black Mirror episode.

Trump was painful to watch. Even without the audience booing him. He seems to think it's funny to just say something mean-spirited about Clinton. That may work for Billy Bush, but most people have higher standards.

176 Shocking Things Donald Trump Has Done This Election

eric3579 says...

I think she is WAY more disliked now by the general public then she was before the primaries started. Also so few knew much about Bernie at the get go. I doubt she would fare well against Sanders if they had a redo. Although those super delegates may make it close. Without them she would have probably lost and in a redo without them she would get crushed im guessing. I hate her so much (more than trump as i just laugh at his nonsense) but still am more comfortable with the same trending downward shit we have had forever (Clinton) then something super unpredictable and ugly(Trump). But that's just me and my cushy life and opinion.

newtboy said:

But we had a nonshit sandwich candidate...Sanders. I'm still astonished that so many people voted for a toss up election with a horrifically disliked candidate over a statistical landslide victory with a revolutionary candidate lacking in closeted skeletons or innumerable examples of his dishonesty. I simply don't understand what they were thinking.

Trump Jokes That Gun Owners Can 'Fix' the Clinton Problem

heropsycho says...

There's two big differences between them as far as voters see them. Both are disliked very much.

However, there's a large portion of the people who hate Hillary Clinton do it for completely fabricated reasons. This isn't to say that there aren't some reasons to hate her. But when Trump and the GOP are going around saying stuff like "Hillary Clinton wants to abolish the 2nd Amendment", which absolutely isn't true in the slightest, gosh, I wonder if there's a portion of the electorate who will hate her for a complete falsehood. Who could it be? Hmmmm....

Again, don't get me wrong, there's plenty to not like about her. I've said numerous things about the whole email thing, which I still can't believe she ended up doing something that stupid.

Trump? Well, I'm sorry, but he's said so many things at this point to piss so many groups off, they hate him for things that actually are true. He did target Muslims for discriminatory policies. He has said disparaging remarks about women, implying a news anchor who disagreed with him must be on her period, and women who get sexually harassed should find another job, not the people who were doing the sexual harassment. He's said most Mexican immigrants are rapists, murderers, and drug runners. And Hillary Clinton is mostly hitting on stuff like that, you know, stuff he's ACTUALLY said. In fact, one of her attack ads is just a barrage of clips of Trump saying Trumpy stuff with kids watching it. There's not a shred of evidence Hillary Clinton has ever come out in favor of completely abolishing the 2nd Amendment.

So, you can say half the country hates her, but come election day, when she wins by what appears at this point to be a margin larger than Obama thumped Romney, CLEARLY Americans like Clinton a heck of a lot more than Trump overall.

bobknight33 said:

So popping a cap into a Clinton is a bad thing?

About 1/2 the country think that that would be a good thing.

The other 1/2 think putting a cap in Trump would be a good thing.

Put a cap in both and vote for @newtboy.

Redacted Tonight: NY Primary Wasn't Legit (Clinton VS Sander

newtboy says...

You're likely correct, that's what they're thinking.
Unfortunately, while the first assumption is probably correct if young voters can't vote for Sanders, she is likely incorrect on the second point. She's not taking into account her own unlikeability rating, which rivals Trump's. People won't come out in large numbers to vote against Trump if they don't think she's a better alternative, and every time her campaign or the DNC does something underhanded she gets a little closer to tying with him for people's hatred and distain.
She also ignores or underestimates how much the Republicans hate her...it's enough to get them to come out and vote for Trump, even though they don't like him at all, just to spite her. Remember, the Republicans are fine being driven by hate and spite, Democrats and Independents at least like to pretend they aren't. That does not bode well for November.

Mordhaus said:

I think she is just arrogantly assuming that either:

A. Most young voters don't usually end up voting (one wonders why with this type of thing demoralizing them)

B. People will hate Trump enough to overcome their hatred of her.

Something's Rotten In Iowa-Sanders Won Coin Toss

newtboy says...

You would think she would do better, but she doesn't.
Republicans hate her with a passion, and independents are not liking what they're seeing from her, or what they've seen in the past, and simply don't trust her.
You're right, Bernie people won't be coming out to vote for Trump, but most of them also won't be coming out to vote for Clinton. Only those so terrified of a Trump presidency that they're willing to vote for the lesser of two evils will be doing that, and no one WANTS to vote that way, meaning many will stay home (or write in Sanders).
Yes. We're totally fucked. The insane have taken control of the asylum. I hope we can wrestle it back, the time is now, and the future is dark and uncertain.

Jinx said:

Wow. I'm no huge fan of Hilary, but I gotta think she'd do better than tie against Trump. Surely most Bernie voters would come out for Hilary if the alternative was Trump? If she can only go 50/50 with Trump then honestly you don't a coin toss to know America is already fucked.

canadian man faces jail for disagreeing with a feminist

enoch says...

@ChaosEngine
so spurr makes a mysoginistic assholery game,(which we agree) and to defend the response he receives.you point out that there was/is immense hatred for sarkesian which could translate to real world violence.

am i correct so far?

so we have sarkesian who has a large population that hate her guts.have posted the most vile threats towards her in the form of death threats and i can only imagine other very imaginative physical threats.basically a band of the most repugnant, online thugs and bullies.(i agree with you this is repulsive and disgusting).

am i still on the right page?

ok ok.lets assume your position is correct and lets also assume that sarkesian feels a real threat from this online harassment.

how does this group of vile and despicable people who hate sarkesian connect with a face-punching game? how does this game (distasteful as it is) translate to real physical harm? are you suggesting that this face-punching game somehow would CAUSE physical harm?

if so,please explain how that could be.

furthermore, you gloss over the jack thompson game (also created by spurr) as somehow being irrelevant.yet thompson does not have a security force to attend to his needs, and thompson was making the very same spurious and unsubstantiated claims that sarkesian was making.thompson was actually taking it a step further by trying to bring legislation proving the video games promoted violence.

same argument.
same reasoning and the same impetus for creating a face-punching game.

so why was it a moral imperative to expose spurr as a mysoginist in regards to sarkesian but not a misandrist in regards to thompson?

to take a stand on one and not the other is morally inconsistent.

but ok...not a big deal in the long run right?spurr didnt pay too much of a price for his poor taste,he was working poor to begin with and of little consequence.

and as i have been lectured over and over the past few days:choices/words have consequences.a position i totally agree with, just wish there was a tad more consistency in its execution.

so ok.spurr got what he deserved for putting this distatsteful,or in your words "mysoginistic assholery" of a game out there in the first place.suck it up buttercup..you got what you deserved.

ok fine.

but again, you either willingly or unwittingly ignore that the only person who is facing charges is greg elliot NOT spurr.

you would think that the man who created the actual game would be the focus of the indictment, but no..that goes to greg elliot.

who,by YOUR own standards, was a victim to a massive online group of hateful bullies who targeted him for disagreeing with the political position of guthrie,a well known toronto feminist.guthrie filed charges against guthrie for harassment.while at the very same time her followers had uncovered elliots private contacts and began a smear campaign against him, accosting and berating his family and friends. costing him job,80k in legal defense and is STILL awaiting a verdict after 3 years.

the mans life is in ruins.

and here is a little caveat that you may find interesting.in canada you do not have to prove actual harassment.you just have to "feel" harassed.

so this guthrie woman, along with her minions are abusing a court system to make a political point and using elliot to set a precedent that should disturb us all.

if you cannot see how easily this can be (and IS being) abused to control opinion and silent dissent.i dont know what to tell ya mate.

how many examples do we need where the accuser did so out of pure malice and/or revenge only to pay zero consequences for that abuse?

i implore you to read the link i provided.karen breaks it down quite succinctly.

How would I know what the video was about if I didn't watch it. After the first one, that was nothing but a waste of my time, juxtaposing comments and (faked? Likely considering it's made my McIntosh who makes a living faking videos) web page screenshots, I ignored the other 4 assuming you put your best foot first.

So wait, you're saying the anti Sarkeesian "faked" video you linked was made by her 'partner'?!? WTF?!? Now that is odd.

Yes, we know she's a bad example of a 'feminist' trying to change gaming. I'm not a fan, as I've said repeatedly.

You contend she's also vocally anti-sex worker (waiting for the quoted proof)...which begs the question, if she IS a well known anti-sex worker activist, why would said sex workers go to her for support?! That means this entire video is based on a fraud, by the sex workers, pretending they thought she would 'support' a sex worker rape victim when they really were just trying to troll her because they don't like her stance...allegedly.

I'm still waiting for non-faked clear evidence of what you say about her to convince me....if you care. I simply don't, I haven't thought about her since gamer gate was in the daily news. Maybe she is totally anti-sex worker, fraud, liar, trixter, hustler...but you have not provided a whit of evidence to that effect beyond her use of the words "prostituted women", which carries the connotation you bring with you so is not proof of her distain.

I'm mid 40's, white, and lived (among many other places) in the murder capital of the world (East Palo Alto) when it was just that, the murder capital of the world (more murders per capita than anywhere on the planet in the late 80's) so sheltered is not a word I would use to describe myself. Untrusting of people who have an obvious bias, yes, I am certainly that, but I am always willing to examine new information with a critical eye (but not propaganda like the first set of videos you linked, or non sequiturs like the third article you linked) and I'm always willing change my viewpoint if it seems it's wrong in light of new evidence. I'm waiting for that evidence. The 3 articles you linked were 2/3 on topic, but amounted to only commentaries lambasting her for saying two words, that's not evidence of her tone/meaning when saying them, the third was completely off topic, as was the first video (the only one I wasted my time with) and I don't take the word of someone who obviously hates her with a passion as evidence, sorry.

GenjiKilpatrick said:

Did you even watch the videos?

Even if you ignore the beginning with McIntosh stating "I 'politically remix' media to fit my agenda"..

The rest of that video is just screen captures of Sarkeesian's twitter.

Her twitter posts parrot those of McIntosh.

McIntosh & Sarkeesian are a couple. McIntosh the brains, Sarkeesian is the face.

She's not even a "gamer"!!

Sorry you can't wrap you head around my dislike of fraudsters.

I feel bad for you. You probably get caught up in ponzi schemes and duped by "homeless" women with babies on their hips.

I'm sorry, Newtboy, that you're so entrenched in your beliefs that you can't see my perspective.

Btw, how old are you? I'm a 27 black/hispanic male. I wonder about your life experience and what makes you so.. sheltered? gullible? trusting?

Anywho, thanks for contributing to the sift.

the Elizabeth warren speech that has everyone talking

SFOGuy says...

Warren is a smart woman who was HATED by the bankers she tried telling for 10 years that trouble was brewing; then she was right.
They hated her more.

Behind all this is a serious question: how does any institution that takes short term deposits (a bank) handle its long term obligations (loans) when the deposits (your money) has the right to leave at any time?

No one has really solved that one yet, as far as I can tell...Maybe she has a smart answer. Smarter than letting the banks trade meaningless swaps, which is what she opposes in this speech...

Irreversible: Rape scene (disturbing)

Bslimguy says...

I'm a guy and was raped by a female cousin when I was around 9 or 10 she was in high school. I don't hate her for what she did but I wish it would of never happened because it messed me up. I have trust issues with every girl I ever dated, not only that I use to get real bad anxiety attacks to the point I was shaking in fear and sweating badly around females. I no longer get the anxiety attacks since therapy but the trust issue is still there.

This movie shows how evil we are as humans, at least that's what I got from it. I doubt the guy posting the nonsense about blaming women for rape, would feel the same way if it happened to one of his family members.
