Dave Mustaine of Megadeth Claims Obama Planned Shootings

shang says...

this guy is as left wing as you can get, but it's interesting his take on James Holmes.

I knew James in school, he was actually pretty cool, smart, and one of the popular kids, strange what time does to people.

course I hate political correctness with a passion and would love to see the political correctness movement mowed down and the citizens rise up and overthrow the liars the cheats in politics and hang them from the street lights as a warning to other corrupt politicians and the corrupt police forces :

So I guess you could say it's the environment. Normally down to earth normal folk that think for themself and not think how others want them to get corrupted by the poison they are raised in and around, then you add to that a mental illness and you have an explosion waiting to happen.

My difference is I want them dead but I know it's wrong and will never do it, James on the other hand didn't have that filter in his head, he wanted to make a statement and the normal filter that says "no thats wrong" didn't click in and the son of a bitch went and did it.

Sad, he was such a great guy in school.

Shootings Don't Inspire Action From Obama, Romney

JiggaJonson says...

The first thing we should do is decide, in the wake of these tragedies, what we should be talking about instead providing a knee jerk reaction.

I would have said the discussion should center around mental-health and the need for it. On that, both men have spoken, Obama through the Affordable Care Act, and Romney through the Massachusetts Health Reform Act.

BUT, in the case of the Colorado shooting, James Holmes' psychiatrist went to local authorities with concerns about this mentally unstable person. Michael Page, responsible for the most recent Wisconsin shooting, was already being watched by authorities.

The question I propose is: Why were these men who should have been monitored closer able to develop and execute elaborate plans to massacre innocent people if the authorities already knew about them?

I'll leave it at that with this final comment: an overstaffed, underworked police force was not a problem in either instance. And funding or defunding local municipalities through the raising or lowering of taxes is something both candidates have spoken on frequently.

StudioADI Starship Troopers Animatronic Effects

criticalthud says...

sweet JEBUS people, just like with everything, there is a human tendency to dive in too deep and too fast initially, then we figure it out, pull back a bit, gain perspective, and find balance.

the same thing is happening with CGI and the film industry.

for movie making that is ahead of the curve, IMHO check out Sherlock Holmes - Game of Shadows and District 9

Searching for Sugar Man - A Rock'n'Roll Mystery

TheGenk says...

Curious that a trailer for a documentary about Sixto Rodriguez pops up when you've been trying to find more music of him.
One of my favourite songs these days is strangely enough a remix of Sugarman; one of these occurrences where you've got a song in your collection for years and you've listened to it a few times and never paid it much attention, then suddenly it hits you and you fall in love with it.

The Truth about Atheism

Fletch says...

>> ^shinyblurry:

That's a point many Christians have wondered about; namely, why do atheists spend so much time on something they say holds no water?

Because the world is full of insane, unreasonable, unintelligible, gullible, maniacal, batshit crazy shinyblurrys who all hear and obey the voices in their Wheaties. Religion, Fascism, Nationalism... all results of the same mentally and reality-deficient group-think. Even the irrational ramblings and regurgitations of low-level, front-line fodder such as yourself should be met with overwhelming and devastating reason and logic, weapons for which you simply have no defense.

I just read that a Catholic priest believes James Holmes was possessed by a demon. Religious nuttery seems to be the only way you lunatics can parse reality. It should be embarrassing to you that it isn't embarrassing to you.

Tony Robinson asks if bankers are human

EDD says...

>> ^renatojj:

Bankers were given powers they shouldn't have and they abused them. They were given money they shouldn't have access to and they squandered it and rewarded themselves. Central banks were established with monopolistic power over the monetary system, and they're destroying the money supply and enabling massive debts with impossibly low interest rates.
When are we going to blame the bastards who gave them these powers in the first place?
Corporations = capitalism/evil
Government = the tool liberals need to accomplish socialism
It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to find the real culprit, but liberals will go as far as blaming corporations and not look an inch further, because that would mean blaming government... no, that's not allowed.

that's a weird new username you got there, qm.

First Amendment rights can be terminated: Cops versus camera

Auger8 says...

Your right it's not Twain it's Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr, but the saying is used to describe freedom of speech being used in a way that is dangerous. These men clearly were not doing anything dangerous. Thus there was no reason for the cop to arrest them. And since the Lt.'s override his decision and released the men, which can be seen at the end of the video, then clearly the officer was in the wrong. And I guess it's not that you "didn't" say there were doing something wrong merely that you defended the cops decision to arrest these men for doing their job. This isn't even about freedom of speech anyway it's about the fact that you Legally Film ANY Public Official on ANY Public Property something a lot of cops have started to take offense to for some reason. And unless men like this stand up to them it will continue.

Bit of a long response, but I REALLY have something to say here. Two performing artists from the 1980's stuck out in my mind because I always figured that the 2nd song they released was W-A-Y better than their first. This song was indeed JHJ's first single, but the next song they released struck a chord with me because it had a humanitarian feel to it....the cynic in me says it didn't do too well 'cos the PC brigade didn't want a clean-cut band singing a song that tipped a hat to prostitutes .... but, ho hum.

"Pure Heart Of Gold" - (Johnny Hates Jazz)

Artist number two was a guy called Rupert Holmes, he was most famously known for the "Pina Colada" song, but his 2nd release (which was ALSO a song about cheating within a relationship) just seemed to get to the heart of the matter that bit more & was a better song in my book.

"Him" - (Rupert Holmes)

If I'd known this post was in Beggar's Canyon, it wouldn't have been there for very long, I can tell you that much.
