Yes We Can. Obama stories are shared. What a guy.

@ChaosEngine
what the holy FUCK are you babbling about?

when did i EVER state,or make the argument that free speech meant free from consequences?

the only difference in BB's and my stance is that her reference to "see something, say something" was a tad disturbing to me and since she felt this was a community (which i agree with) then as a community we can all hold gorilla,or anyone to account for what they post.BB felt that calling down the "benevolent dictator" was the best path.

i disagreed with her is all.
but it certainly within her right to choose to do so.
i felt that an un-necessary way to address gorillas comment.

but hey,i am not easily offended.other people are.i am in no way agreeing with gorilla's "nigger prince",even for low brow comedy it is offensive.i was defending gorillas right to say it...and our right to go "what the fuck man, that is just wrong and offensive",and people did show their opinion by downvoting, and yes, even BB's tactic of calling the "benevolent dictator" can be considered appropriate (though i felt un-necessary).

dude, yer kinda talking out yer ass here.
but nice lecture, useless and pointless n regards to what i was saying, but still nice.

i am of the philosophy that if we are a community, then we can respond as a community,no need to call daddy to settle disputes.we can wear our big boy pants.

*edit: and oh for the love of JESUS @gorillaman!
way to flush my argument right down the fucking toilet.
i give up..sighs..i tried..i really really tried...

US nuclear arsenal is a gigantic accident waiting to happen

shagen454 says...

Jeez, I just watched The Coming War with China (which partially documents US atrocities with nuclear bomb testing on people in Micronesia and subsequent coverup/propaganda) and now I have to see this. On top of that we have an orange gorilla who actually fucking said that he wants an arms race. Good time to be paranoid; everyone keeps saying 2016 was the worst year - well it might not get any better for a good while.

Careless Family Leads to Death of Gorilla - Cincinnati Zoo

newtboy says...

I have found it interesting that, with all the blame being thrown around recently at the mother and the zoo, no one has mentioned the crowd's culpability in this tragedy.

The people in the crowd getting excited, screaming, shouting, pointing, rushing about, etc. only served to get the gorilla overly excited and aggravate the situation. It really seemed to me that the gorilla was trying to help and move the boy away from all the excitement, not hurt him (clear to me because he didn't just smash, if he wanted to hurt the boy, he would have in a nanosecond).
Had people remained calm, things may have ended quite differently...but that would require some self control, something in short supply today....and this is the consequence.

I also can't understand why, since they already had the rifle there in case it went wrong, they didn't at least TRY to tranquilize him and see if it worked, then take the ultimate action if he seemed to be reacting badly.

Careless Family Leads to Death of Gorilla - Cincinnati Zoo

newtboy says...

So sad.
It's really hard to upvote this, even though it is news with a social message.

From what I've seen about this, there's plenty of blame to go around. Apparently there was only one fence between people and the enclosure, apparently with a hole big enough for a 4 year old or short enough for one to climb over....then there was the 4 year old that was unwatched long enough to get through/over that fence. Once he was in the enclosure in the hands of the Gorilla, they had little choice, sadly. If they tranquilized it and it hurt or killed the boy before going out, the zoo would be sued and close and the keepers likely be charged with some kind of manslaughter by negligence.

Cool, your premise at the outset is wrong, so I don't have to read beyond the first sentence where you (seemingly unknowingly) admit that gorillas and bonobos eat meat.
If you want to look at what an animal eats, you look at their digestive tract, not just in their mouth....and your 'list' is just silly and completely lacking in any real science. Humans have canines, which are ONLY for eating meat, so boom goes the dynamite.
You believe obvious shills for veganism, and get your science from internet propaganda sites...why on earth would I put stock in your opinion about science, especially when your 'evidence' is so wrong, not just factually but also in it's conslusions?

You are once again mistaken....
Real verified stats are had to come by, but: "In the coral reef community there are many species of fish which fill this ecological role: roughly 25 percent of the fishes are herbivores or make plants a part of their diet/omnivores (Deloach, 1999)."
That's just fish, far more abundant than land animals by number or biomass, as a group are at least 75% carnivore (not omnivore).

"obligate carnivore" is not honest, scientific, or reasonable. That means 10% CAN'T eat plants, not that only 10% does. Most animals are neither pure vegetarian or carnivore. I know vegans have a history of ignoring omnivores as a category, because it erases their positions/arguments, but that doesn't mean it's not a major category, in fact it's THE major category.

Herbivores have digestive systems designed to break down cellulose. Humans have one stomach, not designed to break down cellulose, so if it's a choice between carnivore or herbivore, biologically we are carnivores, which makes removing the omnivore category just plain silly for vegans.

Understanding The Pedophile's Brain

newtboy says...

10-15 IQ points BELOW AVERAGE?!? That means gorillas and birds may be more intelligent.

If this study is correct, and pedophilia is a brain disorder, that means by law we need to excise all pedophiles from prison and put them in treatment/mental hospitals. Suddenly, prosecuting pedophiles is a violation of the American disabilities act.
Putting people in prison/to death for physical deformities is not what we do in a free society.
I hope these findings are a step towards an effective treatment.

It does seem that we, as a society, are so disturbed by their actions that we create restrictions for them on release from prison that invariably put them back in, restrictions like where they can live, work, walk, who they can talk to, often not allowed to use computers, etc. It seems to me that if we're going to hold their crimes against them for life in that way, we should maybe simply make it a death penalty crime and quit pretending we think we can rehabilitate them when we don't really think that.

Then they can release the meth addicted gorillas to kill the owls.
The poisoned tree snakes we release will make short work of the gorillas, then they die off in winter. It's perfect.
