Owners dog leads police to house fire! (Dashcam Video)

Ah, from Neatorama:

A 23-year-old Alaskan was in his workshop when a heater unexpectedly ignited some chemicals, and the building suddenly burst into flames. For help, he turned to his dog Buddy:

“I just told him, ‘We need to get help,’ and then that’s the last time I seen him,” Heinrichs told the News-Tribune. “I didn’t train him or nothing. He just took off and went and did what he did. … He was just being a good dog.”

It’s a good thing Buddy sprung into action because trooper Terrence Shanigan, who was responding to the call about a fire, was having trouble with his vehicle’s global positioning system, which wasn’t working properly, reports the News-Tribune. “Shanigan, who almost took the long way around the neighborhood, came across Buddy on Caswell Loop Road,” reports the News-Tribune. “The dog took off, and acting on a hunch, Shanigan followed the dog down a side road.”

The budding young chemist received minor flash burns. Buddy will be receiving a silver-plated dog bowl.

Yeah, I was totally snooping.

The difference between promote and quality is basically that quality is better, but you can only do it once. It will "bump" the video's hotness enough that it will be on the front page, right under the promotes. The difference is that the hotness will stay high as long as people are voting on it, unlike promoted videos, which will "hide" again when the promote expires.

This has been a gwiz665 presentation. Sit Ubu, sit. Good dog.

Dude, I'm so sorry. I just had to put down my cat 2 months ago, so I know how you're feeling. Had him for 15 years. Hey, I'm sure she had a great life filled with happy puppy moments, walks by the ocean, many a stick/toy fetched, etc. She was a good dog.

Intelligent Border Collie Puppy

Our neighbor has a grown border collie who is very intelligent as well. They tend to be EXTREMELY intense and appear to not ever have much fun. The neighbor dog spends all her time herding our young kids. Good dog but maybe not a "fun" dog.

Deaf Dog does cool tricks

gbfunk says...

Usually (good) dog trainers will have you simultaneously teach your dog both a verbal command as well as a gesture when giving a comand. By doing this, you better communicate what you want your pooch to do and in my opinion it greatly improves the speed at which a dog will learn a new command. After the dog learns the behavior, you can supply either the verbal or the gesture to the dog with success. Give it a try the next time you teach your dog a trick and you'll be impressed... no deafness required.
