New TSA screening procedures (User Poll by MarineGunrock)
The only thing this will accomplish is to force our enemies to learn Karate. Once the terrorists learn Karate, it's game over.

How to win a game of Starcraft 2 in one minute
I put this in the same category as zerg/gateway rushes (which is what it looks like Roche was doing anyway). Douchebaggery and a gamble, but if you get away with it, wins a win...
Seriously, a floating base, no economy and no buildings... All it would take is one void ray and it's game over, easy win in 5 or so minutes.

Yeah I've read that before, but waht the hell is that crap?? I never had any problems w my mouse in Bioshock 1. And I've got a kick ass pc, it's not a performance issue, but when i get in game (even just the menu) my mouse gets insanely sensitive.
The only way i've been able to play at all is by turning all my mouse settings waaaaaaaaaaaaay down. I have a nice logitech g500 and it lets me modify the DPI among other things. I usually run with it @ 5500, the max dpi, with my windows mouse movement speeds cranked way down. It's awesome for having a mouse that reports frequently, but is still very controllable and accurate.
So i've tried having the in-game mouse way down, modifying the cfg files to get the in game down further, toning down my windows mouse speeds further, AND kicking my dpi down to as little as 500 (down from 5500 again) but then everything feels almost like im swimming a bit (ironic no?) when im trying to do anything, and I could never find a good balance. Believe me i tried to find one too, after dropping $50 i wasn't ready to scrap the game over this 'little issue', silly me!!!
but god fucking damnit I am so pissed about that game. :-/ if you ever come across anything, I'd love to play it (WITHOUT a gamepad)
P.S. I also ran into a VERY similar problem when I got the PC version of Ghostbusters, that game's sensitivity suddenly made sense the second I plugged in my gamepad but I refuse, REFUSE, to play a FPS on a gamepad on my pc. One huge reason I'm a PC gamer over consoles is how married I am to the mouse/keyboard as a control scheme.

Maddow: Unpaved States of America
Glenn Greenwald ran a piece on it the other day called "What a collapsing empire looks like". Some of the already mentioned examples were listed by the NYT earlier that day.
It'd almost be funny (in some twisted and fucked up way) if austerity wasn't the name of the game over here as well. Maintenance of and investment into infrastructure can be postponed or outright stopped, but taxes can't be raised back to levels we had 10-15 years ago.
The other day, I read an article in a Swiss newspaper that the Danish government had to create a bank account for folks who voluntarily wanted to pay more taxes to further improve the welfare state. It's just a handful of people, but still ... the irony is just baffling.

Maddow: The Obama Paradox
@NordlichReiter it's always amazing to me how many things right-wing people (and like it or not, you're definitely one!) try to blame Obama for that originates from Bush and conservatives generally.
Case in point: indefinite detention.
I'm annoyed that Obama and the Democrats haven't made this a big front-burner issue. But honestly, I'm annoyed that Obama and the Democrats don't seem to understand how to really drive the national conversation about public policy at all. Their big victories (outlined by Rachel), were all the result of Democrats focusing on inside-the-beltway posturing and maneuvering, with little or no salesmanship aimed at the American people.
That said, here's the state of play: the Constitution says you can't do what Bush did, the legislature hasn't ratified what Bush did, and the case that went before the Supreme Court was ruled narrowly, rather than broadly striking down the Bush legal justification for indefinite detention.
Now, suppose Obama really believes it's best that we try to not get into a nasty partisan game of finger pointing game over this issue, but also wants to close the door on this sort of thing permanently.
In that situation, would he a) talk to every journalist he could about this, and give speech after speech about this, b) seek some sort of toothless legislative remedy to a non-legislative issue c) promise not to do it while he's President, and pretend that's good enough, or d) keep making the legal arguments of the Bush administration in court until some judge somewhere actually reads the Constitution before making a decision?
He seems to have chosen a mixture of C and D.
For example, this case has nowhere to go but the Supreme Court, and it will be forced to respond to the claim that Boumedine doesn't apply to Bagram.
As far as I'm concerned, the only mistake Obama is making about this is that he isn't using this as a political weapon to destroy the Republican party. Instead he's giving them a bailout, by trying to quietly clean up their mess, without drawing attention to just how big a mess it really was.
I'm kinda puzzled that civil libertarians are giving the Obama camp such a bum rap for testing the Bush legal theories in court. Do they believe the Bush legal theories will win the day? Do they believe if they aren't unequivocally struck down by a court, that President Palin won't resurrect them? In short, are they now putting forward the bogus idea that simply kicking Bush out of the White House was all we needed to do, and that no one will vote for a maniacal President again?

Zero Punctuation: Super Mario Galaxy 2
I find it ironic Nintendo is getting bashed for doing the same game over by a guy who has done the same review 50 times over.
