FB was dead for me for several hours for me this morning but it seems to be working now.

It seems strange though that Google’s App Engine was down when Google seemed to be unaffected. Tumblr and Dropbox are also reported to have gone down.

@lucky760 gmail is part of drive? But my gmail says I have 10GB of total space.

I just saw where they become a dropbox competitor - you can download some software for your pc to enable syncing. Still, not sure I want my Office docs converted into Google Docs, surely I'd lose some compatibility?

I can understand why google did that - they don't want to be a general URL file host, but it does seem that Dropbox still "gets it" a bit more.

Steve Jobs said DropBox was a "feature" not a business, but they seem to be doing pretty well and have an easier model to understand than Apple's iCloud.

I'll give Google drive a go - and give gdurl a try too.

I use Fraps. It's like the mIRC of video capture. It's fairly inexpensive, and it's easy to pirate if you're so inclined. As jimnms mentioned, VirtualDub for editing/video compression. Bear in mind that, using a program like Fraps, the recorded video is uncompressed .AVI, and the filesizes are immense. Make sure your storage device is nice and spacious.

If your kid wants any sound design done for an intro sequence or anything, I'd be happy to whip something up. Example of something recent.

I used to play this game where we would use the old win 95 sound recorder to reverse a word, figure out how it sounds, then rerecord us saying it in "backwards" speak, and reverse it to see if we got close. It was a lot of fun, but there are some sounds I just can't make


Myself and my bandmates used to get very drunk and do this with entire songs. It was just the funniest thing, especially when you went to the trouble of doing the harmonies in a vocal. Learning backwards melodies is well hard because when reversed they make absolutely no sense. Often we'd do only a few words at a time.

Amazing skill that she has, I'd be even more impressed if she could pronounce them phonetically backwards, rather than pronouncing them as if the reverse spelling was an actual word. I enhanced and reversed some of the audio to see how close she was. You can listen on dropbox:
