Don't know much about coyote behavior. Is he playing, or trying to take pot shots for a wound? Seems a little aggressive for play, and a little bold for taking pot shots. None the less, very scary. Should be glad it wasn't wolfs.


While wolves tend to be more skittish around humans, coyotes tend to have less or no shyness around humans. They may seem like simply wild dogs (even playful ones at first sight), they are surprisingly adaptable killers.

I think this one probably saw it for what it was, a human walking alone, and was testing to see if it would be an easy meal. Two coyotes attacked and killed a 19 year old woman out hiking in Nova Scotia last year and coyote attacks have been rising over the last decade or so. A large percentage of those (~37%) are actually predatory attacks with intent to kill.

What this guy should have done, from the second it started approaching him, is make himself look as big as he could (instead of crouching down to its level), yell loudly and back away. When it got close to nip/bite him he should have swatted it.

...And holding out his open hand looked like a good way to lose a finger.

I bet they have the computer comparing what it sees to a snapshot of what the turret is supposed to 'protect', and it will fire at anything that is 'out of place' when it's active. There were a few times when he'd crouch and sit still, and the thing would just unload on him, but when he hid behind the tree it hold fire.

Either way, fix the issue with the paintball loading, and put some better speakers on that thing, and you have a truly terrifying contraption.

you say that , englands defence were utter shit , but its quite concevable that if that goal had gone in england could have played more defencively , allso englnd hit cross bar so if both of them had gone in then i think people would have said england played ok.

From LiveLeak: A B.C. filmmaker says he's lucky to be alive after narrowly avoiding a grizzly attack while filming in the Robson Valley, southeast of Prince George.

Leon Lorenz, who lives in Dunster, B.C., was filming grizzly bears in a nearby valley last Monday evening when he spotted a bear and her cub.

Lorenz said he took cover behind a spruce tree so he could film the bears without disturbing them, but the mother bear picked up his scent.

She turned suddenly, he said, and looked him right in the eyes.

Then, roaring, she charged through the trees right at Lorenz.

He recalls thinking, "This is for real. This is … no bluff charge."

Lorenz set the camera down on a tripod, capturing everything on film, and grabbed his handgun with the hopes of firing a warning shot to scare the grizzly off.

Crouched behind the tree, he aimed his gun high and pulled the trigger — just as the grizzly burst through the branches of the tree, a few feet from where he was hiding.

Lorenz said the shot spooked the bear, which he estimates weighed between 400 and 500 pounds, and she ran off with her cub.

"I knew if I would have run, I wouldn't be here," he said.

"If I didn't have my handgun, even if I would have fired a shot a quarter of a second later, the blast would have been too late. She would have been on me."

'I just thank God that I'm still here'
Lorenz said it's an experience he'll never forget.

"It's something that will stay with me for life. … It was really something that I never expected and I think I've grown from it," he said.

"I think even if I would have hit her, even a very fatal shot … she would have had enough life left in her to do me in."

He believes it would have been nearly impossible to survive an attack at such a close range.

"They were both so fast. It's unbelievable — the speed — and I just thank God that I'm still here."

Lorenz said he's grateful both he and the grizzly survived the encounter.

"The timing couldn't have been more perfect," he said. "The outcome couldn't have been more perfect as far as, you know, I wasn't touched, she wasn't wounded, she wasn't killed, her baby's OK … and I was able to capture the whole thing [on film]."

Lorenz said he has had about a dozen grizzly encounters, but a bear had never charged at him before.

"It just really shows … that their personalities are all different, just like people," he said.

"But also, it shows that they're unpredictable because they can be one way one day and totally different another day and … you just have to be as careful as you can."

The only bug of note I've encountered is for a brief period of time, crouching would send me sliding really fast along the ground. Donkey lady has my bug beat.

I made a spray back in CS of a crouching terrorist (and ct if needed). From a decent distance there was no distinguishable difference between it and a real player.

Man, I got cussed at majorly for that spray... usually by dead people.

This stunt has been pulled before - and there is always a bunch of idiots around to copy-cat the stunt.
The next time we see it, there will be a fatality - I'm sure of it!

Officers were alerted to the incident in Crawley, West Sussex, after seeing video footage of the prank on a US-based website.

The video shows a spinning motorcycle wheel being placed on the outer edge of the roundabout by two teenage boys. Two girls are crouched in its centre.

Insp Mark Piper said the stunt was similar to a "high-speed road crash".

The roundabout eventually reaches a speed of about 20mph (32km/h) and the girls, believed to be 12 or 13 years old, are flung off violently.

I think I've seen enough of these videos to say that just being at a Rally makes you dumb as a box of hammers, but given that she's there and in the spot she is: She has about *one second* between when it's obvious that the car is out of control and when it slams into her.

A couple of people do see it and react fast enough to jump out of the way, but she had literally just arrived at the spot and probably hadn't gotten herself ready to react yet.
