Death

On March 10, 2010, Corey Haim was taken to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California, and pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m. (10:15 UTC). Los Angeles police said that his death appeared to be accidental and may have been due to an overdose, but that no illicit drugs were found at the scene. However, Haim had been ill with flu-like symptoms for two days before his death and his publicist discounted the possibility of an overdose, citing his recent clean living. Prior to the official autopsy reports being made available publicly, Haim's mother stated that the coroner's preliminary finding was that he died of pulmonary congestion and was suffering from an enlarged heart and water in the lungs.[21]

Corey Feldman spoke with Larry King on the day of Haim's death,[22] stating:

"...He was his own enemy. I mean, look, a lot of people that are artists tend to be their own worst enemy because we're passionate people... Most recently he's been, honestly, in the best frame of mind that he's ever been in, in the past year..."

Feldman added that Haim had died "very destitute" and alone.[23]

How you get to prison affects how you're treated inside

Ummmm... I feel bad for the guy, but part of that newspaper article mentions "bilateral retinal hemorrhages" which is virtually pathognomonic for child abuse AKA shaken baby syndrome. This type of injury would be highly unusual for accidental trauma and my guess is that a pediatrician specializing in non-accidental trauma or a coroner testified as much during his trial. Retinal hemorrhage occurs with multiple rapid acceleration/deceleration events, not a single fall.

Should We Bring back the Siftquisition? (redux) (User Poll by dag)

choggie says...

Voted yes... but thought it read "troll" not "poll" -siftquisition bad, very bad-I would suggest bi-passing the siftquisition altogether in a form and fashion worthy of infamy. Someone already broke as many rules in as short a period of time as possible, using their mouse like a ham radio operator reporting the upheaval of continents to a world suddenly without satellites after a direct hit from a mass coronal ejection the size of Russia....Seems like all the others were kinna whiny in comparison.

Since I have a charter now (thanks, dag and viddy-watchers), would I be able to get my next one in whatever colors and text formats I wanted??

I'm sorry, did I miss the part where the coroner listed "asphyxiation" as a cause of death? No because he was not applying enough force to prevent breathing.

You must have missed the part from the report that doesn't match up with what you wanted to say:

"Preliminary results from the Livingston Parish coroner show Stogner died from severe coronary artery disease, an enlarged heart, and a fracture of the hyoid bone in his neck. Dr. Ron Coe says the fracture may be due to force being applied to that area."

Anyone that watches this and thinks that what happened is "okay" needs counseling. The cop was choking and beating him. Choking is not a good way to pry a mouth open. It is, however, a good way to seriously injure someone. What I saw was murder, hands down. I hope the men that did this see their day in court.

There was no attempt to 'pry' his mouth open. His hand on his throat was to prevent him from swallowing. You don't stick your fingers in the mouth of a tweaked out meth head who is already trying to resist you... all you get is your fingers bitten off and hepatitis for your trouble.

This fat meth'd out tub of shit died because his plugged up heart gave out during the struggle HE caused.

"Stogner died from severe coronary artery disease, an enlarged heart, and a fracture of the hyoid bone in his neck"

As I said before, if you're so angry as to wish death as a punishment for disobedience and a victemless crime go get counseling. Its unhealthy, and quite frankly disturbing.

Pitchman Billy Mays Has Died (News Talk Post)

According to the coroner, the autopsy revealed no signs of head trauma, but he did have hypertensive heart disease, and that was likely the cause of his death. I guess it kind of makes you feel better that the cause was natural and not the result of a stupid bump on the noggin.

Yeah, it is weird, but I felt the same way when I heard that news. It sucks that he died, but like you said, at least it wasn't due to him hitting his head.

I also have become a big Billy Mays fan after getting into Pitchmen on Discovery. I remember when I first saw Billy on TV with his products, I just wish he'd stop shouting at me.

But Pitchmen really grew on me and I saw what Billy was like behind the camera, and he is just a sincere, nice guy who really believed in and stood behind all the products he pitched.

"Billy Mays' autopsy results show death from apparent heart disease, not bump to head"
from cnnbrk twitter

Is that conclusive? I remember CNN mentioning his heart disease as a "likely cause", but I haven't heard anything about the physical examination being concluded.

Either way, at least he died in his sleep. There are far worse ways to go.

Edit: The coroner just said that there was no visible trauma to either the exterior or interior of his head, so it is unlikely that the cause of death was a brain injury. They hadn't confirmed heart disease as the cause, but it appears to be the most likely cause at this point.

NATIONAL BLACK POLICE ASSOCIATION STATEMENT
PRESS RELEASE
SHOOTING DEATH OF OFFICER OMAR EDWARDS

MAY 29, 2009, 1127 AM

The shooting death of NYC Officer Omar Edwards may be only hours old; however, the known facts thus far combined with the police experience possessed by members of the National Black Police Association (NBPA) reveal that the shooter, Officer Andrew Dutton, was reckless and shot without identifying himself as a policeman and worse, failing to give Officer Edwards a chance to drop his weapon. As has been the case in all shootings of black officers by white officers ---by example the shooting of Officer Ridley in Westchester and the shooting of Officer Young in Providence, the shooting officers recklessly mistake black officers to be criminals and then commence fire without warning. This shoot first and ask questions later behavior clashes with the caution and protocol that we as police officers are supposed to undertake when confronting individuals with guns. Furthermore, consider that coroner’s report shows that Edwards was shot in the back. Consider that Dutton’s weapon is limited to a three round burst. Six to seven rounds were fired. This means that Dutton pulled the trigger at least twice. By the end of the first burst—Dutton had to know he was aiming at a man’s back and wrongfully firing his weapon. Two other officers were with Dutton, yet Dutton was the only shooter. Lastly, after Dutton shot Edwards----Edwards was handcuffed and lay dying in his blood. The officers rendered no assistance to their dying black comrade. It was not until the paramedics arrived that Edwards was tended to. Without significant efforts by the New York City Police Department to cause officers to be more open minded, there will be many more black officers killed by fellow officers.
