How Mind-Boggling Science Will Outlast the Economic Crisis

NobleOne says...

I guess I don't see much of a difference between the two. I don't want electrodes sticking out of my head, but if nanobots can some day reverse the damage to the brain through the process of aging then I would have no moral objection to using them (again, after a reasonable level of safety has been established).

I am a firm believer that if you were to have nanobots they would have been produced naturally kind of like white blood cells... I can't see how nanobots is an evolutionary trait....we are meant to live and meant to die....thus continues the circle of life... oh and if you want to work on your neurons in your brain just go get high....take the time and read about pot or watch.... http://www.videosift.com/video/The-Union-The-Business-Behind-Getting-High-1

oh and side note shrooms regardless of where they grow are natural not man made...

Christians against Easter

rougy says...

On the one hand, I don't really care. I think that everybody should pursue and practice their religious beliefs as they see fit.

What kind of bothers me is that there is a humanistic connection to these celebrations that need not be disparaged.

It commemorates the rebirth of the seasons and the circle of life, as far as I can see, and there's nothing shameful about that.

It's no more shameful or blasphemous than celebrating your child's birthday.

What comes after Crown? (Sift Talk Post)

Sarah Palin's daughter pregnant!

Sagemind says...

So..., She's preggos, Who cares!

I sure don't, it's human nature, circle of life and all that stuff. It may not not meet with certain people's religion, but get over it. Not everyone subscribes to that religion. A separation of church and state and all that...

Man, people, I'm sorry but, 'get a life'.

KFC-Main Ingredient: Cruelty

rottenseed says...

I think I'd like to be even more involved in this process. I'd like to go to KFC, head into the back, pick out my chicken(s), name them, and pull the lever myself while listening to Elton John's "Circle of Life".

How Chimp Chromosome #13 Proves Evolution

BicycleRepairMan says...

the theory of evolution says nothing about creation, and as such does not rule out a creator

Nothing can, even in principle, rule out a creator, it is simply impossible to do. Thats what we are trying to show by postulating celestial teapots and invisible unicorns, you cant rule anything out.

To say evolution "says nothing about creation" is a bit like saying "the football coach hasnt scored a single goal this season" it is correct in one sense, but a pretty pointless argument against the coach. The answer in both cases is "well, not exactly". You still need a coach, thats my point.

Evolution explains how all life went from really simple to really complex with no need for, and perhaps not even room for, a divine intervener. In other words, God is shown quite certainly to be ruled out of the entire circle of life as we know it, and he/she/it is reduced to a previous gap, this time not to explain the wonderful diversity and beauty of the life of this planet (Which is the reason we invented him in the first place), but to explain how he twisted the cosmological constant knobs into place and made lifeless, barren rocks unevenly distributed in galaxy clusters so far apart it shouldnt even count..

Hippo Vs. Crocodile. Anyone wanna' give odds?

Goofball_Jones says...

Circle of life and all that. But hippos are bad...you do NOT want to mess around with them. When they're in their territory, they totally own it. Nothing messes with them, especially if young hippos are around. Very aggressive.
