Dragonette "Live In This City"

Custom Motorcycle Builders

Fletch says...

Hey Discovery channel, stop bringing us the soap opera that is "American Chopper" and let us watch any of the builders portrayed in this video every week. Nothing the Tuttles have done even comes close to these amazing bikes.

Taco Bell: Discovering Bethel, Alaska

UsesProzac says...

Dude, why would they do some altruistic humanitarian venture? They're fucking Taco Bell. I like tacos. I especially like free tacos.

>> ^spoco2:

@seltar My issue is with you labelling it 'a nice thing to do'. A nice thing to do would be for Taco Bell to do some sort of humanitarian work in the town, maybe build a community centre, a library, just provide something the town needs.
Hey, they could have even pretty much done what they did here... They could have flown in stuff for them to make their tacos and served them for free and that would have been an awesome response to the hoax.
BUT
What they did was, make a spectacle of it, send in a film crew, chopper in the van (when that was entirely not needed) make a little documentary about it, get people saying how wonderful Taco Bell is.
If they had just gone in, done it as a goodwill thing, and then any publicity that OTHERS made of it would have been great.
But that they sent their own film crew and are putting this in their TV ads now... THAT'S what's wrong with this. There's no altruistic, simple case of 'hey, you know, I think people might think better of us if we just turn up there and dish out free food. And if people tell others how nice we were, that'd be great, but it's not what's really important'.
It's a fricken military operation robbed of any 'niceness' by it being SO overproduced and it being shoved down everyone's throats as to just how 'nice' Taco Bell is.
The more I explain it, the more I dislike it, because if they'd just done it without the fan fare, without the EXPECTED mass publicity from it, then I would have applauded.

Truckers Stop a Criminal

Payback says...

>> ^nach0s:

What is it with the heli chase overdub? The narrator was obviously not in the chopper or a part of the original newscast. My guess is that these videos are made without any audible sound, so to make it an interesting package, they get some hack who pretends he's either in the chopper or commenting on a live feed.

They re-dub the helo guy on America's Wildest Car Chases (or whatever it is they call it) to get around paying him a royalty.

AH-64 Apache helicopter crash in Sharana, Afghanistan

kulpims says...

pilot error. not enough altitude and he didn't execute the maneuver very well - the chopper should have pivoted around at the end of the upward curve and straighten itself in the direction of flight thus giving the rotors a chance to provide lift as soon as possible before it starts loosing too much height. altitude of the terrain was also a factor, but the pilot should have calculated that in ...

Rotor Cam - (360 Deg. Chopper View While Re-Fueling)

surfingyt says...

that video is very cool>> ^Jinx:

>> ^surfingyt:
im kinda let down the helicopter wasnt turned on fully

I remember seeing a video on the sift where somebody does that (only looking out, not in). You get a really wierd effect because of the way the camera samples. Turned the landscape into a sort of sine wave. http://youtu.be/EnrwrwMfNSs
Assuming you could mount the camera to the blade tip so it wouldn't fly off, balance the blades and then spin them up to a multiple of the cameras refresh rate I'd wager you'd get a similar effect. You might be able to see the front and back of the Helicopter simultaneously

Porsche stuck in wet cement! Really!? Really..

Porksandwich says...

Bored yeah, plus I've had people about run me down despite having flaggers, cones, and equipment parked in the roadway to keep people from running us over. You know they were close when they hit the handle of the tool you are working with.

And had a relative who works highway crew who got ran down by a car, broke his legs, brain bleed, had to be choppered to a specialized hospital to save him and deal with the damage done. Someone else got struck in the head by the side mirror on a semi truck who got too close, put them into a coma that led to their eventual death.

If possible embarrassment keeps them from running people over who have taken reasonable and sometimes extreme measures to block off the work zone......I support embarrassing the hell out of them. Sad thing is, driving into wet concrete will probably end up costing him more than running someone over with all that damage to his car and the state regulations on how streets must be built probably forcing them to throw out material he drove in.

A guy perform flying in air.

Cameraman films crash then goes to the rescue.

ghark says...

>> ^sadicious:

I'm very certain this isn't the case, but it looks like it landed on someone. Looks like a reflective vest and a bloody arm under the wreck.

Yea that's what I thought too. Everyone was helping the old guy, then I got quite a shock when I saw the body looking thing under the chopper.

Porksandwich says...

How is that guy supposed to land or maneuver that chopper with that cable attached and very little slack in it? I don't see how he could possibly land or even get low enough to detach that cable. Looks like it'd be just long enough to hit the ground running straight down.
