Australians Try Outback Steakhouse For The First Time

Sarzy says...

Uh, it's just a cheesy gimmick. I don't think Outback even claims that their food is Australian, any more than the Rainforest Cafe claims their food is Amazonian.

Stunt Woman

I just read about this in Croatian press. the guy manning the bridge said that after jumping the 9 feet gap the driver and her female passenger, both in her 40's, stopped at the cafe on the other side for an espresso

Bread update

Brushing with water worked better than milk, but both worked better than the egg wash the recipe asked for. The end result was better than buying from a supermarket, but not as good as buying from a Turkish cafe. I think it's probably to do with the flour I used, which was 150g wholemeal and 350g bread flour... more wholemeal might have helped, or the more coarsely ground flour that is hard to get here.

And if you don't know what I'm talking about, then I've updated the wrong profile http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/12772/turkish+pide

[VICE] The Japanese Love Industry: A country that is dying

MilkmanDan says...

I suppose for a Japan video this is redundant, but ... that was f*cking weird, man.

My first year in Thailand, I was in (the infamous) Pattaya for a short trip. Just as I was getting used to seeing 70+ year old Western men with 2-3 young attractive Thai girls on their arms, I saw an ~85ish year old Western woman with a walker, oxygen tank and lines running to her nose flanked by a total of 4 female "escorts". At the time, I thought ... wow, that is messed up.

But cuddle cafes where you can pay lots of money for the privilege of staring deeply into a stranger's eyes? Now that is messed up.

Rick Mercer, on Canadian Stereotypes

I'd much rather Starbucks because when you ask for a latte, they make you a latte. They don't put a cup under a machine and it dispenses powdered milk and a tiny drip of instant coffee.

I miss the coffee in Melbourne. The best I've had here is from a popular cafe down the road from work called Olimpico. They're latte's are small, but damn good. If you're in the Mile End area of Montreal, check it out.

Rick Mercer, on Canadian Stereotypes

Haven't watched the video yet, but... Have you ever watched contemporary Canadian films? You know, ones based in modern times?

We seem to produce two types of films. Excellent, factual, and interesting documentaries...

and semi-intellectual fap fuel that blurs the line between edgy art house celluloid and hardcore porn.

So... the whole "thinking about sex" thing?

Don't park like a jerk

shatterdrose says...

I was helping some friends move one day and they had paid to rent all the meters in front of the building. The meters had giant reserved bags on them and the whole 9 yards. When the meter maids came by, we had to show proof we could park there even.

So when get up to his 7th floor room, which overlooks the street when we ear a super loud vroooom. It's some expensive as hell Lambo with the giant engines visible in the back. Obviously I'm not a car person. . .

What does the douche do? Spends 5 minutes trying to park in our spot. Meanwhile, we were on the phone with the tow company "Yes, we have some reserved spaces and someone parked in them and now we can't get our uHaul truck in."

"Can you describe the car to me?"

I gave a meek description and he replied, "we'll be right there."

Best part? The guy was sitting in an outdoor cafe as he watched his lambo get towed. Should have read the GIANT ASS SIGN!

I Am Bradley Manning

enoch says...

@lantern53

i think the only thing manning did that could be considered "wrong" is the pure data dump he performed.

unlike snowden, who sifted and vetted the information and then forwarded the information to a journalist (glenn greenwald at the gaurdian),manning just dumped massive amounts of information to wikileaks.

but manning is also paying a high price and he is willing to pay that price.
so while i may disagree with his methodology i admire his courage to face the full force of the united states federal government.

its interesting that you find people who criticize the federal governments practices as being confused.
let us look at the definition of terrorism shall we?

from the FBI:“the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives” (28 C.F.R. Section 0.85).

now the key word here is "unlawful".
which can be translated as being "when THEY perform acts of violence against a population it is "terrorism" but when WE perform acts of violence against a population it is "counter-terrorism" because WE made it lawful".

the arguments is about distinctions and it is flimsy when you question the validity coming from a government which performs drone strikes on a daily basis on brown people.

when a person straps a bomb to their chest and walks into a cafe and detonates themselves in a crowd they are a terrorist.
when the US government sends drone strikes and bombing runs to a village in yemen they are terrorists.

there is no distinction.
just because the government proclaims otherwise or your desire for the US to be standing on moral ground are irrelevant.

they are,by definition,both terrorists.

and when you consider the guidelines put forth by the nuremberg trials after WW2,in which it was the UNITED STATES government which implemented the majority of those guidelines both bush and obama and consequent participatory members of those administrations should be (and ARE in the international court of law) war criminals.

but the united states government conveniently ignores just about everything outside their own interest.even if that interest after the second world war was to diminish the practices our very own government engages in on a global scale every day.

it is the height of hypocrisy and reveals a moral bankruptcy that is staggering.
when they do it =terrorism
when we do it=counter-terrorism

i call bullshit.

Who Would Want to Buy Anything From These Pricks??

mxxcon says...

Many people keep their consoles in areas of a house where there is no internet connection and they are not interested in it. They will happily play garage band/guitar hero or other party games.

xbox1 will be completely unusable to military personnel that are deployed overseas. On military bases internet connection is usually available only in designated locations and at designated times(think internet cafe-type setup).

A game can be EVER run on only 2 consoles. If you like to trade/exchange/lend your games with your friends, forget about it.

You can lend the same game to the same person only once.

In order to lend or sell/give away/trade games with somebody they must be in your friends list for at least 30 prior days.

If you want to play games you must pay Microsoft $60/year for as long as you use the console. $60, $120, $180, $240, $300. After 5 years you paid MS almost as much as the console itself for nothing.

HiroEX said:

I really don't get why people are so upset over the new xbox. Could someone elaborate why it's so bad? The online check-in really doesn't seem to be that big of a deal to me, and it's somewhat understandable since they moved to a completely digital distribution (games are just pre-loads to save bandwidth), while still allowing people to transfer their digital games. Granted, I don't really ever sell my used games (am i an odd one out for that?) I keep seeing people say MS is being anti-consumer... what are they doing exactly that's infuriating everyone so much? Looking for someone to please explain what I'm missing?

What Kind Of Asian Are You?

persephone says...

Was in a little cafe in Koyasan, Japan a few years back with the family. The waiter brought out a plate of fried potatoes saying it was 'service' (free) We tucked in, grateful for the extra snack, only to hear behind us, a couple of older locals saying, "Gee those foreigners love their fried potatoes". We chuckled to ourselves. We'd actually ordered the Japanese style dim sums.
