Joe Biden Mental state
So would I, but it has nothing to do with Trump: I'm just fascinated by those goddamn things. I mean, what does the bird get out of it? Seriously, I'm pretty sure there's some branch of Calvinist theology that's needed to explain Drinky Birds. Hmm, what an odd and wonderful world we live in.
I would vote for one of those fucking toy birds that dips its face into a cup of water instead of Donald Trump at this point.
Free Speech Considered Support for Nazism
@newtboy,
Nazis and white power groups are bad enough that standing with them makes one my foe....like NAMBLA.
Do you apply that with equal opportunity?
The guilt of association for the gallery with Stevens and whatever his name was from Amerika.org, should be similar to association with say the Nation of Islam and Farakhan?
What about Canada’s branch of BLM in Toronto who blocked the Toronto Pride parade and one of whose founders(Yusra Khogali) have said things like “white people are recessive genetic defects, this is factual”
https://archive.is/7R2LV/c2fbdb212391ecd395c3c89372819e2bd8d772bc.png
And
“ Plz Allah give me strength to not cuss/kill these men and white folks out here today. Plz plz plz”
Thats as much ‘evidence’ as you’ve given for convicting Brett Stevens of white supremacy, and then to convict anyone associated with him there after.
I say we dont get so extreme as you and deny all those people and anyone associated a right to speak their piece on that basis alone. I say the stupid and wrong things being said need to be allowed to be spoken, and confront them with corrections and revelation rather than force and violence to quiet them.
The Walk.
The president controls the purse strings among other powers you ignored. This one has wasted untold trillions, and maybe quadrupled the deficit.
That alone is one hell of a lot more than any mascot.
When is the last time Republicans and Democrats came together to have the votes to veto the president, because it was the last time. They couldn't agree to veto him on anything, Republicans wouldn't dare cross this president, even when he commits treason in public. In practice, this president controlled two branches of government for two years (now 1 1/2) and has both of his tiny hands on the scales of the third, filling the judiciary with "activist judges" that believe the president is above the law...at least this president....I'm sure their tune will change when it's Biden.
I guess we won't hear a peep of complaint about what Biden gets done from you then, since he has no real power and is just a figurehead?
I agree, local government is where governing hits the ground, so get rid of any trumptards that weaseled their way into it in November....as well as the higher offices. Any left will be "shallow state operatives" (they aren't deep), only interested in delaying and muddling any legislation meant to repair the nation.
Are you referring to the President?
President is the leader of the executive branch of government. The chief executive (I.e. Chief law enforcer).
He has direct command of the military, so you can call him the 'leader' of the military.
In practice, the President just has two powers : limited military command, and veto. Both of which can be legislatively overridden.
He's little more than a mascot, and in terms of national politics he's close to inconsequential. (Hence why TDS is much ado about nothing)
Your local country leadership does more to lead your life than the president.

FYI, he's the leader of all Americans.

News crew arrested on air in while covering riots
It's media being targeted (far from the first time) by one faction of the government, police, under supervision of the military (national guard) after being under siege from one 1/2 branches for 3+ years, the executive and 1/2 the legislative.
Fortunately the right wing doesn't control the entire government or they would be in their underwear in a wood 100 miles away and their equipment (not to mention their passports) would be gone. And they would never dare mention the incident.
If Trump wins in November, guaranteed that's where we're going, state media only, police as a club against political enemies, constant military control under constant emergency declarations, cancellation of elections, and a long hard slide into dictatorship.
Make being a police officer special circumstances instead of a shield from prosecution and the trend will reverse the day the first cop gets the death penalty.
This is not media being targeted by the government.
This is just a badly trained or commanded police force.
If this was the KGB they would be in their underwear in a wood 100 miles away and their equipment (not to mention their passports) would be gone. And they would never dare mention the incident.
This is democracy led by none other than the super intelligent and highly eloquent whatshisname whose solution to this situation is that more people need to be shot ASAP. The only hope is that the current administration is too incompetent to turn this into an outright military coup. But who knows?
Police reform? Gun laws? Stop putting people in jail based on race? Desegregate schools? Nah...

Who pays the lowest taxes in the US?
While I'm all for progressive taxes, it would be nice if this presentation had just 1 graph that was absolute dollars paid in taxes, not always having the Y-axis a "% of total income" ... then we'd see that those rich people are paying hundreds to thousands of times more than the poor folks.
It would also be nice if individuals could choose what projects/departments/agencies their tax money (above some per-person baseline) went to, rather than budgets being proposed by executive branch and approved by congress. But if you hate political ads now, such a system would flood all channels of advertisement with "choose XYZ before April 15th!"
Honest Government Ad | We're Fucked
Sure.
For newts, it's everything.
Leaf litter, twigs and branches, and downed trees are all imperative for a healthy forest....as is periodic fire in most cases. They are habitat for most forest animals.
They also moderate soil humidity, keeping it from drying out to dust, and return nutrients to the soil for plants to utilize.
Few forests could survive being raked clean, none would remain healthy.
Thank you newt. Can you dwell a little on the importance of the ecosystem of the forest floor also?
Grreta Thunberg's Speech to World Leaders at UN
I say it's both.
It's appeal on an emotional and moral level to get people to listen to the facts that she presents more clearly and honestly than the U.N. scientists or that other less political scientific organizations have published.
Not true. Using an emotional delivery to get people interested enough to listen to the factual science is basic psychology, and could be considered the science of selling science to humans....or applied behavioral science.
There's also what's known as psychology of science - The psychology of science is a branch of the studies of science that includes philosophy of science, history of science, and sociology of science or sociology of scientific knowledge. The psychology of science is defined most simply as the scientific study of scientific thought or behavior.
And the attacks are inexcusable.
To be totally upfront though, Gretta's role is meant to be emotional as opposed to scientific or factual. She's not meant to fill the gap of proving or providing facts, but rather to appeal on emotional level to get people to listen who maybe wouldn't other wise listen.
The criticism that such an angle is apart from 'science' isn't entirely invalid in her case. Right or wrong facts, using emotion to appeal to people and change their minds is entirely a non scientific approach to argument/persuasion.
This Presidential Seal Does Not Look Like The Others
@bobknight33
How's your stable genius now? You know most people of average intelligence or better would notice the difference between the seal of their own personal office and one as manipulated as this is?
Russian-styled Eagle with two heads, golf clubs instead of arrows, wad of cash instead of an olive branch. None of it apparently noticed by the stable genius or any of his cronies.
Can you at least admit he's stupid now?
The Robots are coming for Washington State Apples
That is English, motherfucker, do YOU speak it?
Espalier: a fruit tree or ornamental shrub whose branches are trained to grow flat against a wall, supported on a lattice or a framework of stakes.
It's not an advanced or unused word, especially for orchard owners and gardeners.
Edit: I will not be dumbing down my vocabulary to accommodate someone else...they can choose to learn or remain ignorant of their own native tongue. I shall not become a lowest common denominator speaker....that only serves to make us all as dumb as Trump.
Oh stop already!
That is going to hurt
Picked a body up 2 weeks ago. A guy was cutting down a tree and was working near the top cutting branches when somehow the chainsaw cut him under the armpit. He bled out up there and the fire/rescue needed to get him down.
So there's that.
But he didn't fall on a running chainsaw, so at least he's got that going for him.
Why they still print $2 bills
I withdrew a bunch of $2s from local bank branch the other week.
many people actually think they're fake.
I think they should get rid of $1 bill, but increase minting of $1 coin, and increase printing of $2 bill.
(and get rid of penny, but that's another story)
Trump publicly blows his cover for national emergency
@newtboy
@Drachen_Jager
@simonm
@bobknight33
You guys are letting him get away with too many ill defined terms.
@bobknight33 needs to define
Republican-
RHINO (dependant on Republican definition) -
Corrupt-
"Lose" in the political sense (as in "Trump does not back down or lose much")
"Back down" same comment
Swamp
--------------
From my point of view, the definitions would be as follows, but I doubt he would agree, so the definition s actually need to come from him if there's ever to be any REAL communication here.
Republican- Fiscal conservative, functional but minimal government, patriotic and supports the democratic process over communism, law and order, often (but not necessarily) religious
RHINO (dependent on Republican definition) - Ron Paul and Ron Paul Jr. - Libertarians in the thinking of Ayn Rand who actually consider themselves the "true republicans" but are outside the mainstream
Corrupt- Promoting self interest over that of the people you are meant to govern - in Trump's case, I'd say it means "anyone who doesn't agree with me"
"Lose" in the political sense (as in "Trump does not back down or lose much") - Not passing legislation with any staying power, being defeated in the Legislative Branch after something is passed (See the Affordable Care Act for the opposite example)
not "Back[ing] down" same comment - I'm going to break the law or established political norms
UNTIL WE CAN AGREE ON TERMS, THERE WON'T BE ANY ARGUMENT OF SUBSTANCE BECAUSE YOU SIMPLY WON'T BE TALKING ABOUT THE SAME THINGS
