U2 ZooTV Outside Broadcast opener
Same here, this album and tour had an enormous impact on me. I saw them in Boston and Providence at the beginning of this tour and it inspired me to start creating animations and editing videos. I tuned out after Zooropa too, the only songs I listen to since then are Mofo and Elevation.
There's a video on Youtube somewhere that I will have to sift if I can find it, it has a lot more material from this era, like the "Eau de Zoo" perfume commercial you see on the Times Square screen (where Bono says "God bless ya, Zoo products")
I love this era of U2. The end of the Brian Eno production days. To be honest, anything before The Unforgettable Fire and after Zooropa is outside my listening zone. Eno changed the band and that's no embellishment, you can find interviews all about how Brian Eno was uncertain about the collab but Bono was so on fire about him being the producer, he was willing to change the direction of the band simply to have him produce.

If "Real People" Commercials Were Real Life
I live in Pittsburgh, we have an equally annoying accent "Yinz goin dahntahn to get a chipped ham sammich?" but beyond that I lived in Worchester, MA (basically about an hour outside of Boston, effectively a suburb even though it was it's own city) for almost a year. I can spot the Boston accent like nobodies business. In my group of friends when I lived in Worchester (pronounced Wors-ter by locals) there was one guy with a thick Boston accent, he used to get so much grief from my other friends. We tease in Pittsburgh anyone with a thick Pittsburgh accent though as well.
Who knew that the Boston accent / attitude would be such an effective antidote to douchery?
...Maybe it makes more sense if I change the "antidote" metaphor to "vaccine"; fighting douchery with a more controlled strain of douchery.
(all in good fun, my New England brothas )

Tears In The Rain - Blade Runner fan film shot for $1500
I was thinking just a replicant lying down to sleep and dreaming of Boston Dynamics looking sheep would do the job.
Definitely impressive work for the budget.
While watching it, I couldn't shake my discomfort over the fact that this Blade Runner is rather cruel in his approach to his job. He's part of decommissioning an entire series of replicants. Does he go to every single one and destroy their universe as they die? What kind of sadistic person does that?
And couldn't the manufacturer think of a better way to shut down old units? It seems like using emergency services personnel to individually locate and turn off toasters that are past their warranty date is a waste of public funds. How about just giving the replicants a subconscious urge to migrate to a corporate facility at the appropriate time?
"I don't know why I came here today."
"Don't worry about it, just let me take a look at this expiration date next to the power switch on your neck."
"Wait! I remember things I wasn't programmed foooorrrrrrrr...."
"Did he say something?"
"Dunno. He's powered off now."
I could make that film for $500."
Boston Dynamics New Nightmare Inducing Robot-Handle
When is someone going to firebomb the Boston Dynamics lab and destroy their monsters once and for all?! They must not be allowed to continue their apocalyptic research!

Ex-GF Vandalises Car
Incredibly sad, no arrest yet, 2 weeks after the video was posted. That's negligence by the Boston PD in my eyes, they know who she is and where she lives, go get her. That behavior usually eventually ends in homicide, it nearly did just then.

Occupy Wall Street.
Standing Rock.
Americans seem to have no trouble "shitting in their beds" when all other responses are impossible or will have only token effect.
Voters for Trump don't want positive change in the current system, they want to fight back, burn it down and start over.
But shitting in your bed is still an asinine thing to do, and I'll call a spade a fucking shovel every time.
Refraction - Telephoto Timelapse Video
Vimeo description:
Atmospheric refraction plays with the light of any object near the horizon. Here stars, startrails and the sun, filmed in timelapse photography from two major observatories in Chile, display immense distortion above inversion layers in the outskirts of the Atacama desert, Chile. The moon scene is filmed near Boston at the Atlantic Ocean shoreline. The mirage is an optical phenomenon in which light rays are refracted and bent in the atmosphere and produce distorted or multiple images of the object.
Family Feud SNES- Nonsensical Answers
Yep. The Algorithm that the game uses (as I said for "misspelling if you will) can be manipulated in a sense where in spite of how randomly long the response is and how nonsensical it is in context, as long as it identifies the letters well enough, it will give it to you. One example I loved was "Opps I pressed it" which the game recognized the somewhat as "Spee_ _i_it" and from there gave us "Speed Limit." Or "Bullshit Boston Lawyer" and it was able to figure out "Busboy" out of a few of the letters.
That's half the fun of this video, to try and decode these patterns.
That Hall family looks pissed.
(edit) Wow, didn't even read the description first.
(edit2) I think I gleaned the specific algorithm watching the whole thing through. The player just has to enter the answer's letters in the right order, with anything between them.
Stephen Colbert Is Genuinely Freaked Out About The Brexit
Radx: true, but the economy IS growing for the polish shop owners in Boston, England.
Its just not growing for the locals who decided 20 years ago that since the factory closed for no fault of their own it was someones duty to take care of them.
Im oversimplifying, obviously, and I do apologize.
The situation in Boston, England will not improve if they chase the Poles out. It will not improve if more local employers find it difficult to sell their produce (they might even find it difficult to find workers once the Poles are gone).
The EU is not great but it is a large accessible market. Im pretty sure Boris is trying to think of a way to stay in right now.
Demanding jobs is the road to hell. If you base your economy on giving everyone a job you end up in North Korea. The Poles in Boston are looking for opportunities, the Brits are looking for a scapegoat.
