Crocodile show goes wrong AGAIN !!!!

vex says...

I remember visiting that zoo when I was in Thailand. It was quite an awful place. They had drugged tigers chained to a post that you could pose with for a fee, an Asian black bear that was so horrendously obese that he just sat on his ass and drooled all day, and twenty by twenty foot enclosures packed with crocodiles (you couldn't see the ground). The crocodile show was incredibly boring, however during the show I happened to spot an elephant with what looked to be a fifth leg. Turns out it was just his massive erection. I think he may have changed lanes without signaling since the female trumpeted quite loudly when he mounted her. I suppose it's hard not to make a ruckus when you're being penetrated by a six foot long dick.

Dog and owner close encounter with a black bear

Not all bears are the same.

Preferably it's best to not interact with a black bear that's minding it's business so that dog is a little shit for running toward it and I can feel the frustration of it's owner. However if the black bear approaches you with agressive behavior, you actually want to make loud noises and look big. If they do attack (which is rare), fight back with everything you have. You do not play dead.

Grizzlies are a different story. You don't want to get loud and act bigger like you would with a black bear or mountain lion. I've been that close to a young griz when hiking with my grandfather but we just slowly backed up and went the opposite direction. The bear just kept on his path forward. Same thing happened many years before with my aunt and him only they encountered a mother with cubs. They did the same thing and nothing happened. Funny thing was it was in the same location.

Tough Russian Bear Survives The Crash.

I can personally attest to the toughness of bears. I hit a black bear with my Ford F350 one night. The bear rolled a few times, got up and kept running, just like the one in this clip. Tough little suckers.

At the time, I was wondering "what are the odds of hitting a bear? They are rare at the best of times?" Well, it has now happened at least twice.

In hindsight I don't think runnign was the best thing for him to do here. Thankfully it worked this time but doesn't running potentially activate the bears predator instinct and cause him to give chase?

I think if you're that close to the bear and already moving at that kind of speed when you first see it you're probably better off just booking it like this guy did.

Hell no. Running away is the absolute worst thing you can do.
Steps to not getting mauled by a bear/mlion:
1. Stop
2. Show a short threat display (arms wide, yell, shake a branch, throw a large rock)
3. Back away

Stop spouting BS that could get people killed. It's ludicrous to think that stopping and doing a threat display would be safer than continuing on your way uninterrupted.

If the bear isn't showing aggression you're best off just backing away with no sudden movements. If it charges/attacks it depends on the bear. Play dead if its a Grizzly, be as aggressive and as loud as possible if its a Black Bear. In either case the advice is never run.

So I'd say he was lucky the bear decided not to go after him. He probably surprised the bear as much as it did him. It even seems to bluff charge. Had the bear chased he'd not have outran it.

Russian Guy Chases Three Polar Bears Away With A Large Bone.

Fletch says...

I had to do that with a black bear once, but black bears are wimps. I thought it was supposed to be suicide with a polar bear, much less three of them. Maybe they already had a good day at the dump. And what kind of dinosaur did that bone come from?

These new BBC-documentaries all include some sort of spy-cameras for these close-ups (of course not necessarily like here in this video, but) like this:
