Will Rock Band Drums Teach You Real World Drumming?

I'd love to see Rock Band/Guitar Hero give you the option to use music notation instead of the scrolling guitar neck thing.

Absolutely...that would be an awesome feature. My wife is a band director, and her specialty is percussion. Yeah, shes a drummer! And she can go from reading notation to playing Rock Band without missing a beat (pun intended).

On the other hand, a friend of mine who is also a band director and whose specialty is percussion, can barely play songs on medium level. Its an odd thing. He just cant relate the colors on screen to the colored drums. But put him on a real set and he's rockin.

I actually am a teacher sometimes, though not currently. I bounce between freelance musician, band director, drum instructor, film composer, arranger and substitute teacher to pay the bills.

bf, you are talking about giving federal funds to private schools, right? If so, then that is closely related to vouchers and I'm generally against it.

If by choice you mean charter schools, home schooling, private schools, religious schools and whatever other types of schools available that I'm leaving out, then your wish has already come true and I have no gripe with you.

Citizens (mainly parents) hold a lot of sway for change and choice at the local level. A hand full of organized parents (or concerned citizens) can do some pretty amazing things (and occasionally some horrible things). Unhappy parents will make a principal's life a living hell.

There are more options for influencing education than going to the polls each year, if you are not opposed to getting your hands dirty. If you want to make positive change in your local school system, attend your local weekly school board meeting. If there is something you don't like, speak up about it. If you don't act like the crazy guy in the vid you just submitted, they will take you seriously. If they don't, then turn up the heat, after all these meetings are televised. These elected official don't have a lot of money and can be easily toppled if proven ineffective or corrupt. You could even run for school board yourself.

Cool. Are your stuff online like on YouTube?

Oh, I scored my first feature film this year, a micro-budget cable thriller called 'Naked Fear'. It was scored for 4 musicians (Issykitty on violin, me on perc), electronics and a lot of post production audio processing. The score turned out great.

Are you doing a big band, big movie, etc.?

NIN - Something I Can Never Have

vairetube says...

His former piano teacher Rita Beglin said "Reznor always reminded me of Harry Connick, Jr." when he played.

Reznor later confessed, "I don't want to give the impression it was a miserable childhood."

At the Mercer Area Junior and Senior High Schools, Reznor learned to play the saxophone and tuba. He was a member of both the jazz and marching band. Former Mercer High School band director Dr. Hendley Hoge remembered Reznor as "very upbeat and friendly". Reznor also became involved in theater while in high school. He was voted "Best in Drama" by classmates for his roles as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar.

Also he dropped out of college while studying computer engineering in 1983.

He was a janitor for studio owner Bart Koster, who commented that Reznor was "so focused in everything he [did]. When that guy waxed the floor, it looked great."

Reznor often travels under the assumed name "Steve Austin" from The Six Million Dollar Man.
