45% Of Doctors Consider Quitting If Health Care Bill Passed (Politics Talk Post)

quantumushroom says...

You mean, if the government steps into YOUR career field, declares your salary will be capped, tells you how many clients you're allowed to serve per day and where geographically you will serve them, you won't consider quitting? Who can blame 'em.

Health insurance is a "racket" but no one has a better idea for a business model?

Robert Reich On The Public Option (150 seconds)

They wont lower costs. They will end up delaying / cutting services.

Since when does the Goverment make efficent decisions?
Have you been served quickly at the DMV, Welfare office, Employment office or the County health department?

Katerina victims are still waiting for assistance to rebuild their homes.
The Cash for clunkers Where is that money? The people are waiting.

Government does not know how to be efficient or thrifty.

Just today I had to spent $7800 on a custom PC just to replace a$7.00 cable in side it. If I went to Radio shack and bought the cable I would be non compliant and would loose my job. And yes I DO work in Healthcare. I know that the local purchased cable would be just fine. That cost got past directly to the Hospital. But the Government made rules.

How can they serve the peoples needs? They don't know what you need you know what you need. You know what works for you. The decision needs to be yours.

What the goverment can do is:
legislate laws that allow competition across state lines.
Don't drop people when they are deadly sick and need it most.
Cap premiums on those who really need insurance ( preexisting conditions etc) to not more than 10% .
Allow those who get denied treatment the ability to challenge to a independent group that can over rule the insurance companies.
Pick up the COBRA payment when your job is lost.

Serve.gov (Humanitarian Talk Post)

quantumushroom says...

The guy whose disastrous policies are fueling the twin fires of poverty and government dependency now wants everyone to chip in with their little bit of income that can't be taxed (yet) to fill the cracks.

Unbelievable. Or used to be.

You already 'serve.gov'. From January 1st to August, YOU work for THEM!

Jesse Ventura Talks Torture on Fox & Friends 5/19/09

robbersdog49 says...

"That is his point. It's very easy for people to talk tough about things that will never affect them."

But surely in a democracy everyone has the right to an opinion. It's no good saying you can't talk about waterboarding unless you've had it done to you, as that would mean very very few people could comment on the issue, and more importantly, neither would you or I be able to say we didn't want to see it happen again.

Having served as he has adds weight to Jesse Ventura's opinion. He's talking about things he actually understands so it's right that we listen to him, but to require someone to have walked the walk, to say that you can't voice an opinion about the forces until you've served, is to become the thing he's fighting against.

Jesse Ventura Body Slams Elizabeth Hasselbeck

Asmo says...

>> ^quantumushroom:
Well, Pennypacker is running late, so I'll chime in.
How does Ventura--who really should know better--equate scum terrorists who are not soldiers and therefore have no rights or legal protections (except ones fabricated by the American Criminal Liars Union) with legitimate soldiers fighting under a nation's flag?

Because he fought under that flag with honour, and everyone involved with the torture from the guy holding the water bottle to Bush are no better than the scum terrorists. And they besmirch the honour and image of the thousands of people who serve your country both at home and abroad in the armed forces and government, who would not do such a thing.

Remind me again how you have served your country? Working at McDonalds doesn't really count as 'serving your country' btw. ; )

And CaptainPlanet, have you ever served the country that you profess to love?
There's a LOT of ways to learn discipline besides the military. I was like blankfist: I hated military life. And no amount of "discipline" they tried to shove down our threats made us better sailors in any way. I ain't talking about the haircuts and the stupid goddamn saluting. They systematically try to crush creativity and critical thinking.
I understand the need for uniformity in military units, but not to the degree they push it. Heaven forbid, a sailor might dare to ask his superior, "Should we REALLY be firing Tomahawk missiles at a nation that has no WMDs and was not connected in any way to 9/11, sir?"

That pretty much explains why you had no business in the military.

Saving Private Ryan - Knife Scene -The Shhhush Scene Graphic

Hive13 says...

The VA actually set up a counseling hotline after this movie came out to help vets that were affected by the realism portrayed in the movie.

It is hard for most people to watch this movie, but imagine if you had served in WWII.
