remember in the 80's MTV had a show called "liquid television"?
remember aeon flux?
thats peter chung, the animator who made dark fury.
it is a pretty decent short film based on the riddick universe.kinda like animatrix in a way.

I didn't know anyone made this movie. Now I'll have to find it somewhere.
I also didn't know Riddick was really just an attention whore. Across for attention, lengthwise for results.

I've always felt The Matrix was not actually a trilogy. Reloaded and Revolutions are really just one long movie chopped in half, like KILL BILL. For the record I love Tarantino but prefer the Matrix sequels to KILL BILL.

The trilogy doesn't have a real middle chapter... the meat of the sandwich. Over the years I've kind of come to think of Animatrix as the true middle sequel to The Matrix trilogy. Considering events in Final Flight Of The Osiris lead directly to the sequel movies, I suppose that's not much of an insight.

I love this song. And the Animatrix was the best. I wish they would make a Matrix prequel based on the Renaissance shorts from the Animatrix.

Moviebob reviews Pacific Rim

.. it felt like watching a live-action cartoon in the very best way. Ron Perlman's character design and the loving shots of his shoes are straight out of a Madhouse anime (Animatrix, REDLINE).

I might potentially go back to see this one a second time. I hope it has a surge at the box-office..

Shouldn't Spiderman land on all 4 limbs then....?

Heh, fair point, although he does have to keep one arm free for rapid fire web blasting and generally looking cool. =)

>> ^Payback:

The request was for "proper super-hero landing" not real world. I also merely admited I liked it. Something about a nano-tech reinforced belly flop from 25 stories speaks to me.

It wasn't a specific critique of your post, I just find it funny how the conversation surrounding things like this inevitably drifts to how it's impractical because of real world limitations... ; )

My personal fave is the first one (from the Animatrix).

heavy metal the movie-live action trailer 2012

>> ^probie:

I'm as anti-remake as they come, but I also support the re-imagining of a story in a different medium (a la The Watchmen). Seeing something like this sets my mind a fire about what a live action remake of Heavy Metal would look like with today's CGI, etc. They'd have my money, but only if they kept the initial story intact, like they attempted to do with this homage.

Why in the hell would you want a live action Heavy Metal? And the same story, remade? Are you a Hollywood executive? Jesus fucking christ!

The whole point of Heavy Metal is to make it look exactly like the magazine. How about an all-new Heavy Metal using state of the art hand-drawn animation? ... with tasteful CGI assist or maybe one CGI short like Animatrix. That is what the *real* fans of Heavy Metal (and not marketing victim consumoid bots) want to see.

"Kid" story -The Animatrix back stories- Bald kid in #3 stor

Yes, Animatrix is essential Matrix viewing. The Second Renaissance pt 1&2 is what Matrix Reloaded should have been.

I saw Dreamcatcher in theatres back in 2003 because they showed the premiere of Final Flight of the Osiris (Animatrix segment 3) as an accompanying short. Was totally worth it, even if I had to sit through Dreamcatcher afterwards. If you haven't seen Dreamcatcher, there is a large focus on aliens that come out your asshole and you know you have an alien in your ass because you can't stop farting powerfully. Not joking, there are full scenes which are meant to be serious in which actors are grimacing in medium close-up while loud farting noises are laid on top.

If you think that was interesting for a back story, look up the Final Flight of the Osiris.

The Animatrix is kind of a necessity for those who followed the Matrix series. Even if those who do not like the 2nd or 3rd, it's still a bit of a necessity as it adds more depth to the overall Matrix universe and the stories that make up the Matrix world, both in and outside of it. If you think this was interesting stuff, look at The Second Renaissance Part 1 & 2, as it tells the story of how it all began. It's dark for a story. But a good companion story nonetheless.
