Your Dog thinking You're the "Alpha" is NOT a Real Thing

TheFreak says...

Hmmm....I'm not resistant to this new information but when I listen to this presenter it sounds to me like she's personally offended by the original Alpha dog theory. The disgust in her voice throughout is unmistakable and I assume she's conflating canine behavior theory with human social cliches or that she feels that any form of negative reinforcement is abuse.

This leads me to believe that I'm getting a biased interpretation of nuanced data.

If I want to know what's going on here I'm going to have to commit to the necessary investigation because this presenter is unreliable on this topic.

Unfortunately, my interest in this topic barely extends to the length of a 6 minute youtube video.

Chris Matthews Freaks Out At Obama After Debate

dystopianfuturetoday says...

The whole concept of debates is kind of strange. These candidates basically lay out their positions and platforms ahead of time, and most people are going to identify with one over the other. It seems to me that someone who changes their political convictions based on debate performance must not have had strong convictions in the first place.

I support Obamacare regardless of how well Obama does in the debates. I think privatizing education is a horrendously bad idea regardless of whether Romney surpasses expectations or not. The real debate should take place in the head of the individual voter long before the debates are even scheduled.

Because the choice between platforms is so personal and so subjective, the only fair criteria to judge the candidates on are confidence, performance and expectations. By these criteria, Romney did great. He said nothing that I found enlightening or even vaguely persuasive, but he was the more alpha-y alpha dog on stage.

(Issy is giving me shit for this comment, so let me be clear, I in no way support Mittens or Paul Ryan.)

Who is this pathetic whiny gym attendant bitching about people wearing jeans??? And that justifies a cop decking a peaceful bike rider for no reason other than they think critical mass is a nuisance.

I almost think this is some bizarre psyops experiment for the upcoming pandemic and financial crash.. and this is an effort to convince even 10 people just to lie down and take it. Pretend it is prison, don't question the stupid attendant, their arbitrary rules and power trip clearly make a vital difference in the world. Who cares if it is made up and capricious. Obey the power-tripping alpha dog at all costs. Take it up the ass in prison, never put up a fight.

Fearless tiny puppy!

By the way... there is no alpha dog in the world going to act like that to a submissive packmate... that is a scared friggin little dog at first.. he calms down soon enough.

But you guys are crazy if you don't think that little dog is acting scared as hell. Get him before he gets me.
