Belgian ale or a good dark stout are my go to beers, but I have a warm place in my heart for draft Yuengling lager or a well poured black and tan.
Unfortunately, the only Belgian beers in my local beer store are Leffe (which is ok I guess) and like 5 others that are over $100 a case. I'm told Dilirium Tremens is fantastic.

I don't think I'll ever grow to like whiskey, but beligum beer sounds tempting. Just watched "In Bruges" again these days. I don't know how easy it'll be to get it, since german beer is pretty dominant here in Germany, apart from the commercial foreign brews such as Heineken, but I'll definitely try.

Yeah, you can find it for as low as 20 sometimes if you just look for it. I thought the taste was more "deep" than "rough," but then again, I LOVE Belgian strong dark ales. Tripels are pretty damn good too, but I'd take a Quad over them.

I really like a huge range of beers though...if it makes me stop to consider all the flavors swirling around my tongue and leaves me wanting more, it's great for me. Beer is pretty much just amazing, haha. Cool to see people on the Sift who really know their shit about good beers.

Very interesting; I will have to try these out if I come across them. My own personal favourite is Brakspear Oxford Gold, a flowery refreshment with just the right amount of hops. Of a similar quality is the scottish ale Ossian from Inveralmond Brewery.

On a more patriotic note, I can heartily recommend anything from the norwegian brewery Nøgne Ø. I was so lucky recently to receive a bottle of their Dark Horizon 2. edition. With an alcohol content of 16%, I plan to store it for a couple of years, but I did taste their award winning 1. edition of the same beer. Made with demerara sugar, coffe extract and wine yeast, it is and explosion of flavour, and extremely powerful. One bottle is too much for one person, so it is perfect to share with someone you value.

Great post, I'd quality but it never works for me.
I cant really drink the mass produced beers like Heineken, Budweiser etc. cos they just make me so sick the next day. So I have to try the more obscure items to find what my gut enjoys.
My current favourites are probably not very exotic to yourselves in the USA but a local store (off license) just started stocking Sierra Nevada pale ale and a number of other varieties by the same brewery which I'm enjoying a lot as I used to brew ales myself.

I've also been getting into some organic Honey beers from microbreweries in the UK. I visited a Lowenbrau keller in Sydney which only sold imported German beers and they had some killer honey beers (meads?).

I also think highly of the Spanish lager "Mahou" which is huge in Spain but I cant find it in Ireland yet.

Raises a Flagon of ale in Zonbie's direction... I can't figure out why it took so long! This was an obvious choice, just look around the Internet. "FAIL" is so popular, it's getting it's own websites dedicated to it - It only makes sense that we give it it's due.

So to you I tap the keg as we run flagon upon flagon under it's spout and let the suds flow.... (Rootbeer to you non-drinkers )

A How To Guide to Preparing Oysters

Kilpatrick: Finely chop up bacon, mix with worcestershire and tomato sauce in equal measures, then apply to the oyster, grill until bacon is crispy. Garlic/salt/pepper/tabasco can be used to taste in the sauce (ie. prepare the sauce separate without the bacon ; )

Kilkenny:My personal favourite, marinate the oysters in Kilkenny ale (about a teaspoon per oyster) for 30 mins, then top with camembert cheese, unsweetened cream and bake lightly in the oven (you don't want to toast the cheese/cream, just get the whole thing warmed up and liquified). You can use a stout (Guiness if you must) or a nut brown ale depending on your preferred tastes. ; )

You got to wonder how much of the British dismay for the EU is because of these artificial outrages. According to them EU would have already banned: Chatting with bar staff, the Queen to be mentioned in passports, teabags from being recycled, light ale, plasma TVs and soy milk.

Here's a pro-tip Britons: Don't read tabloids!
